LBRDI Chapter 67

You Like Me

Shen Mian had brought the cake.

Before Zhao Xingchen, the dragon that ate the most that Shen Mian knew was He Xing- if he maintained the amount of exercise He Xing considered to be normal, he would need five or six large servings of special nutrient solutions for one meal and he’ll have to eat the equivalent of the normal amount of side dishes for two grown men.

Shen Mian had thought that the dragon who could eat the most was He Xing, but he didn’t think that Zhao Xingchen could eat even more- the bottle that Zhao Xingchen used to drink the nutrient solution was about the same height as the sitting Gian. There was still half of the nutrient solution left and it looked like he would have no problem finishing it.

Shen Mian silently opened another bag of cupcakes.

Lansin had given him these cupcakes. They were delicious and could be kept for a long time so Lansin made a few large bags for the centre, worried that after not meeting them during the month-long holiday, the little dragon cubs would miss his desserts and won’t be able to eat them.

He Xing had just finished debugging the housework robot that had been idle for a long time and when he looked up, he saw Shen Mian opening another bag of cupcakes. “Don’t give them to Yan Huan and the others. They’re already so big and would just snatch the little dragon cub’s rations.”

He Xing pulled out a set of recipes, took out the ingredients he had brought and let the robot automatically process the ingredients. He hardly ever came to this villa. There’s usually an hourly worker who cleans it and several of the robots were still in their boxes, maintaining their factory settings.

Shen Mian pointed to Zhao Xingchen, who was outside. “I’m worried that the food I made isn’t enough for him to eat.”

He Xing glanced at him. “Don’t bother with him and Zong Chi. Those two are Eternal dragons of the mythical genus. They can eat like hell and drink nutrient solutions by the box.”

Shen Mian looked up. “Aren’t you Geng Chen, the largest dragon in size?”

“Just because we’re the biggest doesn’t mean we’re the heaviest.” He Xing quietly laughed. He was next to Shen Mian and tilted his head to look at his lover. “I wouldn’t be able to fly if I got fat. They don’t need to fly.”

Shen Mian paused for a moment. “You just said that Zong Chi and Zhao Xingchen were of the same race? So does he also have to eat that much?”

He Xing moved a little closer to Shen Mian. “No, not really. Zong Chi’s appetite is much smaller. You can see that both of their human forms are similar sizes, but the Eternal dragon’s dominant gender is omega and the genders have a big difference. Adult omegas are usually about twice the size of alphas and Zong Chi’s size is smaller so he can’t eat as much.”

“Their species can synthesize an extremely corrosive venom, which is also in their stomachs. With an overall well-developed digestive system, they have particularly good digestion and eat all day.”

Shen Mian just casually asked about Zong Chi’s appetite but didn’t expect He Xing to give out so much. All this information wasn’t disclosed to the outside world. “Is it okay to tell me all of this?”

He Xing just smiled and watched him and after a while, he leaned in and kissed him. “They are my friends, allies of the royal family and part of my life. I want you to know me a little better.”

“Our kind of dragons are actually very cute.”

Shen Mian glanced at him. “Mn, I can tell.”
Quite cute, actually.

……

After dinner, He Xing began to chase away the rowdy best friends.

Yan Zhou looked at the time and also planned to take Yan Tan back to sleep. “Yan Tan, it’s already 9:30, I…”

Yan Tan cheerfully waved to his old father. “Bye-bye, dad!”

Yan Zhou: ???

Zhao Xingchen, who was about to leave, immediately leaned in to make up for his loss and affectionately patted Yan Zhou’s shoulder. “Brother, it’s fine. I’ve already heard from Yan Huan.”

Yan Huan, who had long ago left to send a message to Vick, didn’t know that his best friend was selling him out.

Yan Zhou frowned at him.

Zhao Xingchen, “You left a shadow on little Yan Tan, you have to give the cub a little time.”

The troublesome brother had a bunch of troublesome best friends.
Yan Zhou coldly said, “You don’t even have a lover.”

Zhao Xingchen, “Zong Chi, don’t hold me back, today I’m going to…”

Zong Chi almost couldn’t hold back Zhao Xingchen and couldn’t stand it any longer. “What are you going to do? You’re scaring the little dragon cubs.”

Zhao Xingchen looked over. The three little dragon cubs in the room were blankly staring at him. He abruptly changed his words.

He Xing sent the adult dragons away, closed the villa’s front door and returned to the toy room. His Dean Shen was discussing tomorrow’s trip with the cubs.

Shen Mian didn’t care about where they went, but Yan Tan wanted to take Gian and Xing Fei to see Livia.

“Livia has to tutor a little dragon cub tomorrow and the class ends at 12 noon. How about we pick up Livia?”

Xing Fei already knew about Livia from Gian and was curious about the older brother who had managed to advance his education early and immediately agreed. Gian didn’t mind and the three little dragon cubs smoothly made their plans to pick up Livia tomorrow.

Dean Shen listened to their discussion for a while and asked, “What about me?”

The three dragon cubs looked up and blinked.

Shen Mian pointed at himself. “So your plans don’t include your dear dean?”

Subtitles: Are you going out without the dean?

Gian immediately shook his head. “We did, we did. We are going out with the dean tomorrow.”

He Xing, who had been listening at the door for a while, quietly said, “What about me?”

Yan Tan blurted out, “Driving the suspension car!”

He Xing, “…”
This dragon cub should be left with Yan Zhou.

After the fuss, it was past ten o’clock when the three cubs had washed up and at last, the energetic cubs began to get sleepy because of the exams and the long journey. Shen Mian carried Xing Fei, who was rarely asleep, into the little girl’s own room. He Xing waited at the door.

Shen Mian gently closed the bedroom door. He Xing took Shen Mian’s hands and kissed them, then pressed his hands onto his own face.

Shen Mian looked away. “What are you looking at me for?”

He Xing, “I just feel particularly good.”

Shen Mian was puzzled. “What’s good?”

As if He Xing heard some soft words of love, he suddenly laughed and hugged Shen Ming for a long time. Although the soundproofing of the room was good, Xing Fei slept lightly and He Xing couldn’t bear to wake up the little girl, who didn’t sleep much, so he muffled his laughter in Shen Mian’s chest.

Like he picked up some kind of treasure, He Xing lowered his head and couldn’t help but kiss Shen Mian several times, as if it was hard for him to resist.

Shen Mian was baffled. “What are you laughing at?”

He Xing, “I just suddenly remembered when you first met Yan Huan and directly asked him if Yan Zhou had something wrong with him.”
Very blunt, which was Dean Shen’s usual style.

Shen Mian felt that this dragon had most likely gone crazy. “Has your reflection arc gotten lost? What are you laughing at now?”
In fact, he didn’t know what was so funny about that.

He Xing looked at him. “Look. If I acted like this before, you would definitely ask if there was something wrong with me. But you’re not like that now, you’ve even asked me why I was laughing many times.”
For someone with a personality like Shen Mian’s, this kind of silent patience was the greatest privilege.

Shen Mian looked away: No shit, how could my attitude towards my boyfriend be the same as to other dragons?

He Xing kissed him again and spoke with confidence, “You like me.”

“You definitely like me a lot.”

Shen Mian was silent for a moment, but he suddenly grabbed He Xing’s collar and pulled down. He pressed against He Xing’s lips and vaguely answered, “What nonsense are you spouting?”
Of course I like you. If anyone else came this close, they would’ve gotten a few broken bones long ago.

After the passionate intimacy, He Xing took two steps back.
He had already undone a few buttons on his collar, his chest rising and falling from breathing. The skin showed under the clothes from time to time.

“I think we…should sleep in separate rooms tonight.”

Shen Mian held his collar to dissipate the heat and didn’t say anything.

He Xing held up a finger. “Last question.”

Shen Mian, “Speak.”

He Xing, “May I know when you started liking me? I want to note that day down.”

Shen Mian, “…There wasn’t a specific day.”
It wasn’t the suspension bridge effect, nor was it love at first sight. It’s even more impossible to talk about the date. He Xing was like water dripping on a stone; every drop that fell left traces that were invisible to the naked eye. The robot prepared for Gian, the words that soothed Yan Tan…these bits and pieces were He Xing’s soul.

Shen Mian found himself giving the other man extra patience before he slowly realised that this was a friendship that exceeded the boundaries of friendship.

The water droplets kept accumulating and eventually passed through the stone.

“Well, I fell in love at first sight.”
He Xing smiled at him.

He chased the “light” while he felt muddled and at the end of the beautiful silver mana, he saw the source of the light.
It was Shen Mian.

……

Gian and Yan Tan slept until dawn and when they woke up, Xing Fei was already sitting in the living room drinking different flavours of herbal tea.

The sun-dried fruit and dried flower teas were from the human civilisations. Zhao Xingchen and Zong Chi ate too many cupcakes last night and they bought them to compensate for the little dragon cubs. Originally, there were some random valuables, which were declined by Shen Mian.

Shen Mian wasn’t too polite either. He didn’t want those expensive accessories, but asked Zhao Xingchen for and took around six or seven special glass bottles for drinking nutrient solutions that had an insulating effect.

Shen Mian filled several large bottles worth of herbal tea in the glass bottles before setting out to ensure that his little girl could drink herbal tea that was boiled just then.

The place where Livia was tutoring at was located in the Golden Capital, which was another residential area where the nobility lived.

He Xing drove the suspension car and casually explained, “The area where we live is mostly made up of mythical dragons, the rest of the non-mythical dragons pretty much live there.”

Shen Mian sifted through the resumes submitted on his quantum computer. “You’re still split into factions?”

He Xing, “We’re not involved in politics and the military must be in harmony with the royal family. There aren’t any factions- there can’t be any. Yan Zhou and the others actually didn’t want to buy a house over there. The housing prices there are terribly high because that place is the closest to Fei Yun City, but they can’t not buy…”

Gian, who was sitting in the back seat, suddenly raised his paw. “I know.”

Shen Mian turned around. “Hm?”

Gian, “It’s the school district, right? Yan Tan and the others must attend the childcare centre in Fei Yun City, so they must buy a house close to the centre.”

Shen Mian, “…”
This concept seems to be something he casually mentioned at one point.

He Xing laughed too hard and immediately turned on automatic driving. “Yes, yes, it’s the school district. Our Gian is too smart.”

In the middle of the conversation, the suspension car had entered a residential area and was automatically driving towards the house where Livia was tutoring. When they passed by a house, the roof of the suspension car was suddenly hit by a heavy object with a clang.

It hit so hard that the suspension car emergency braked and activated its protective measures.

The corner of He Xing’s lips hadn’t gone down yet, but his eyes narrowed a little.

Xing Fei, who was drinking water, choked and coughed. Gian and Yan Tan patted her gently in distress.

Shen Mian directly opened the door and got out and before he could figure out the situation, he heard a dragon cub wailing.

“Dad, you threw me out!”

Shen Mian: ??
He took a closer look and found a red gem dragon cub on the roof of the car.

The little dragon cub was so aggrieved that he wiped his tears and kept apologizing to Shen Mian. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it wasn’t on purpose.”

“My dad and I were playing a game of high toss…and I ended up being thrown out.”

Shen Mian, “…Where’s your dad?”
Gem dragons like to carry their cubs like that.

The dragon cub sniffed and after finding that Shen Mian didn’t mean to scold him, he explained in a small voice, “He didn’t do it on purpose. It’s because mum came out and scared him, that’s why he accidentally threw me out, he should be getting a beating right now.”

Shen Mian, “…”
There are too many missing parts.

  1. Thank you~
Shen Mian and He Xing are so sweet (▰˘◡˘▰) fufu~
That comment from the dragon cub at the end reminded me of little He Xing’s masterpiece in an author’s note in one of the earlier chapters. The one about him talking to his dad, who threatened to throw him out and his reply: “my mom will beat you up” XDD
