LBRDI Chapter 66

Zhao Xingchen

Until the starship’s hatch closed, the silence in the cabin was enough to suffocate a dragon.

Shen Mian was holding Gian. He was calm on the surface but was already filled with questions on the inside- what’s this all about?

He Xing felt quite suffocated. He also didn’t know what weird thoughts were filling his dean’s mystical little head right now, so he could only try to explain. “It’s like this. Vick is an officer, part of my entourage, but he’s a civilian and doesn’t follow me into battle. I used to stay at the base or go on missions all year long and I didn’t even go home much. I rarely see Vick.”

“We really, really aren’t familiar.”

Shen Mian could feel He Xing’s desire to live but was completely confused as to what kind of life he was begging for and slightly frowned. “I know… so what are you trying to explain?”

He Xing, “…”
He understood, his dean didn’t think anything was going on between him and Vick.

Shen Mian picked up Xing Fei, fixed up her little skirt and introduced them to Vick. “This is Xing Fei and Gian, my little dragon cubs.”

Of course Vick knew. He would watch Shen Mian’s live broadcast whenever he had time and he knew all the little dragon cubs in the centre.
Vick stiffened a bit while facing the blinking eyes of the little dragon cubs. “I’m Vick.”

Gian held Xing Fei’s hand. “Hello, Uncle Vick.”

Vick tried his best to look less businesslike. “…The room opposite His Highness’s room has been arranged for you. There’s a call system next to the bed, so if you need anything on the starship, you can call me.”

Xing Fei smiled at Vick.

Vick relaxed a little and slightly bowed towards Shen Mian and He Xing. “The starship is expected to launch at 8:20. There will be a lot of violent shaking so please pay attention to ensure your safety.”

Shen Mian, “Okay, we’ve troubled you.”

Vick’s eyes slightly lit up. “Then I will now take you and the dragon cubs…”

He Xing scrambled for the job at lightning speed. “No need, you must be exhausted coming here with the starship. I’ll take them over, you can get some rest.”

Vick wanted to say he wasn’t exhausted, but his boss had spoken and he couldn’t involve too many selfish motives while working, so he nodded, bowed and left.

He Xing pushed Shen Mian. “Let’s go look at the room.”

This was He Xing’s private ship, so aside from the accommodation area, most of it provided amusement facilities, such as the second floor which had a built-in mock battle arena, the third floor which had a swimming pool, and the fourth floor which had a large kitchen… though most of the areas were disabled since He Xing didn’t have time to drive around in it.

The little dragon cubs’ room was purposefully tidied up but because He Xing told them at such short notice, they had no time to change the bed to ones specifically for dragon cubs.

Vick had prepared a room for Shen Mian that was next to the dragon cubs’ room. The only room across the corridor from them was He Xing’s.

When He Xing found this problem, his head was full of questions: What? Can’t you give me an assist?

Actually, Vick didn’t have any selfish motives. He Xing had a bedroom on the top floor, but there was only one room on that floor. Even if Shen Mian and He Xing stayed in the same room, wouldn’t the two little dragon cubs have to stay on the floor below? So they could only be arranged to stay in the accommodation area and because He Xing himself had disliked that the rooms below were small when he came on the starship, he stubbornly opened all the rooms, resulting in only two rooms remaining in his row- one was for He Xing to stay in and the other one was a small compartment opposite miscellaneous things.

He Xing carried a  little dragon cub into the room before he remembered that he had done such a thing.

After Shen Mian fastened the two little dragon cubs’ seatbelts and Xing Fei finished drinking her water, the starship departed.

Shen Mian took Xing Fei’s large cup, wanting to give her some water to cool down, but ended up crossing the distance of three rooms before reaching the corner with the water dispenser.
As he poured the water, he said, “The centre is deeply indebted to you.”

He Xing was sleeping in a real 200 square metre bedroom.

Marshal He refused to admit that he was once a silly dragon that liked grand spectacles. “You know, I’m pretty big.”

Shen Mian, “…”

He Xing muttered, “I mean my dragon form. I can drink water by changing the position of my head and tail.”

……

Due to minimizing space jumps, the starship arrived at the Imperial Star’s port in the afternoon. Unlike Water Star, the Imperial Star’s port was full of private starships.

The Imperial Star gathered 90% of the Empire’s nobles, but it was not the exclusive territory of the nobles and many dragons with sufficient economic power would also come to live on the Imperial Star.

Gian looked at them for a while and whispered to He Xing. “Uncle, why do some starships have symbols on them and some don’t?”

He Xing turned around and glanced. “The nobles’ starships will have family crests. Look, that black splash is Yan Tan’s family’s symbol.”

When it came to Yan Tan, Gian couldn’t help but look forward to it. “Yan Tan’s last exam is today, can we go see him tonight? Lu Yuan also said he’d call us today, but unfortunately, the internet wasn’t very good on Rhein’s side.”

Xing Fei, “I also miss Brother Yan Tan.”

He Xing put the little girl on his shoulders. “Our house is right next to Yan Tan’s, you’ll be able to get to him as soon as he’s out of school. By the time we get home, he should almost be back.”

Xing Fei stretched out her hand and pointed. “Then let’s hurry up and go home! Uncle, charge!”

He Xing was particularly childish. “Amanst dive.”

Amanst was the protagonist of a cartoon that had been particularly popular recently and his big move was to dash down and stun the enemy dragon.

Shen Mian, “…”
He and Gian looked at each other. The little gem dragon wagged his tail. One big and one small dragon took a particularly taciturn step backwards.

After taking a step back, Gian seemed to feel a little bad and whispered, “Uncle is also very childish.”

Shen Mian thought to himself: That’s just the way it is, of course, big babies are childish.

He Xing’s villa on the Imperial Star was a three-story building. His neighbours were Zhao Xingchen, Zong Chi, Yan Huan and Yan Zhou.

Because the father and son were getting along better and better, the old General Yan was no longer insistent on taking Yan Tan back to the old mansion to raise him. Yan Tan was still living with Yan Zhou.

Before Shen Mian and the others arrived at the villa, Yan Tan had finished his last exam and was already eagerly waiting in front of He Xing’s house, looking at the road.

Yan Zhou skillfully took off the little dragon cub’s bag. “I’m going to get you your present, so wait here for a while, okay?”

Yan Tan wasn’t really afraid of his father now. “Okay! I will be good.”

Yan Zhou went to the villa next door to fetch Yan Tan’s toy box. Inside were all of Yan Tan’s favourite toys that he wanted to share with Gian and Xing Fei.

After Yan Tan waited for two minutes, he didn’t see the Dean or children but his little uncle Yan Huan, who was forced to marry by his parents.

Three minutes later, Zong Chi and Zhao Xingchen, who were similarly being urged to marry, appeared at He Xing’s front door.

Zhao Xingchen had recently paid a lot more attention to little dragon cubs because of being urged to marry. He scooped up Yan Tan and gently stroked him. “I suddenly want to have a baby. Little dragon cubs are cute, it’s just the alpha that isn’t as cute.”

Zong Chi, “What? Am I dead now?”

t/n: this is probably referring to how ZXC is treating ZC as if he wasn’t there.

Zhao Xingchen, “What’s cute about you? Did you hurt your head during the war?”

Yan Huan, “Stop fighting, give me a break.”

Yan Tan was surrounded by a bunch of adult dragons and had a hopeless expression on his face.

Upon returning from the trip to the house to get a bunch of snacks for Yan Tan, Yan Zhou found his little dragon cub with a look of distress.

Yan Zhou picked up his little dragon cub with both hands, his face grim. “You like him?”

Zhao Xingchen, “Mn.”

Yan Zhou, “Give birth to your own.”

Zhao Xingchen stroked his chin. “Alright then. I’ll find an alpha to have one with later, then dump the alpha.”

Other dragons, “…”
Zhao Xingchen, be humane.

Yan Tan struggled for a bit. “Dad, I can see the dean!”

The little dragon cub jumped out of Yan Zhou’s arms with an expression of being saved and threw himself onto Shen Mian, his cheeks pressed against Dean Shen’s calves: The uncles are so scary.

Gian and Xing Fei hadn’t seen Yan Tan in a few days and the three little dragon cubs quickly huddled together.

He Xing fell apart a little. “What have you all come here for?”

The three sworn followers naturally said, “Hiding from being urged to get married.”

He Xing, “Go hide at the base, why did you come to my house?”

The three bad friends, “You’re the crown prince.”

He Xing scooped up the two cubs. “Come on, let’s go back to Fei Yun City.”

Shen Mian had no objections and smoothly picked up Yan Tan. Yan Tan forgot his old father and happily sat in Dean Shen’s arms. “Dean, I’ve missed you.”

Shen Mian lowered his head and pressed his face against Yan Tan’s. “Mn, we’ve missed you too.”

Yan Zhou, “???”

Several veins popped out of the corner of Lieutenant General Yan’s forehead.

After the chaos, He Xing still hadn’t successfully left and opened the villa to let the bunch of unreliable friends in.

Shen Mian had seen Yan Huan and Yan Zhou before but this was his first time seeing Zong Chi and Zhao Xingchen.

These two dive deep into live rooms all year round so they were one-sidedly very familiar with Dean Shen.

Zong Chi was very polite. “I’m Zong Chi, He Xing’s second in command. If the dean needs anything, give me a shout, just like ordering He Xing.”

Zhao Xingchen was very casual. “I’m Zhao Xingchen. Dean doesn’t need to regard us as outsiders as I don’t see you as one.”

Shen Mian was quite fond of He Xing’s group of friends. They all had good personalities, which made it much easier to get along with them.

Yan Huan and the other two mainly came to hide from being urged to get married and when they entered the villa, they each found a place to hole themselves up. Zhao Xingchen sat next to the dragon cubs and after watching them for a while, he felt a bit hungry. He took out a box of thirty nutrient solutions from his space button, poured them all in a large bottle he brought, stuck a straw in and drank while watching the three dragon cubs exchanging toys.

Xing Fei prefered Yan Tan’s paintings and was not interested in the little dragon cub’s multifarious fighter jets and spaceships, so she sat aside with the collection of paintings.

Shen Mian watched them for a while and asked Zhao Xingchen if he wanted something to drink.

Zhao Xingchen thought for a bit. “I’m a bit hungry so I’ll drink a bit of nutrient solutions. I’ve brought some myself, so no need for the dean to go get them.”

Shen Mian faintly said, “I’ll bring over some desserts, it’s no trouble.”

Zhao Xingchen was quite happy. “Thank you, Dean.”

Shen Mian got up and went to the kitchen to get plates and at the same time helped the confused He Xing.

Yan Tan had stuffed Gian’s chest full of toys and as he listened to Yan Tan explain how to play with each toy, Gian couldn’t help but be distracted by the sound of gulping next to his ears.

The sound wasn’t loud at all, but it was right beside him and lasted an especially long time.
At first, Gian thought it was Xing Fei drinking water, but after listening to it for a while, he felt that something was wrong- Xing Fei wouldn’t drink water for this long.

The little gem dragon turned around and met his newly acquainted Uncle Zhao Xingchen’s line of sight through a bottle that was around his height.

The bottle that was fully filled with nutrient solution already had a small half of it drunk.

Zhao Xingchen blinked and let go of the straw. “What’s wrong?”

Gian’s expression in his eyes gradually became frightened- this amount of food was the equivalent to eating a whole little dragon cub!

It so happened that Shen Mian came out with a plate of cupcakes and fell silent as he looked at Zhao Xingchen’s large bottle.

This was called drinking a bit of nutrient solution?

  3. Thanks for the chapter! Poor baby Gian having to see all those nutrient solutions used as a snack when even buying one was a hardship for their family not so long ago… + the scary eating ability, lol.
But well, in the military guys’ defense, my sister’s boyfriend is the sporty type (not muscle crazy, but he is in shape thanks to the daily training he really enjoys, pushups every evening even on vacation kind of guy) & the man can eat, lol, muscles do seem to burn a lot of food…
