LBRDI Chapter 47

Grades are not bad

This semester is almost over and they’re still transferring?
Shen Mian, “Transferring schools at this time?”

Lansin nodded, “He’s seven years old and I needed to transfer here for work. I can’t rest assured if he is too far away from me, he’s also quite dependent on me and there’s no one else who can take care of him where I used to work, so I wanted to transfer him to a childcare centre nearby.”

Shen Mian must tell him about the centre’s situation.

“Sir, I’m the only teacher in our centre at the moment and all the cubs currently enrolled here are all large-sized dragons.”

All of the newly enrolled dragon cubs would be divided into classes based on size, after all, some of the large dragons were too strong and could mistakenly injure other cubs when they haven’t learnt to converge. This division by size and risk factor will not change until they are in higher grades.

Although the elven dragon is the largest dragon in the dream dragon genus, their physiques were the lowest in the same genus. They are delicate and are prone to disease. Even in dragon form, the scales on their bodies are fragile and bruise as easily as dolls in front of a gem dragon and spotted dragons.

“I was hesitant at first,” Lansin spoke softly, “But after watching the dragon cubs living together here, I think he’s bound to get a good education here too.”

The pretty little girl was a human-dragon hybrid, soft and slender, and those little dragon cubs that seemed more adept at rampaging around not only did not get impatient but instead shielded the little hybrid from the wind and waited patiently for her to finish drinking.

Originally, Lansin had already come here to work a few days ago, but had been hesitant to transfer his dragon cub to this centre because this centre was mostly filled with large-sized dragon cubs and the only hybrid child should have cetacean dragon blood, which were medium-sized dragons.

But Lansin had no other choice. His dragon cub had never left him for so long, he even cried during the call yesterday. Lansin was determined to get his dragon cub back and not let him lodge there any longer. The closest place to his work was this centre. The other one was more than four hours away and his job doesn’t allow him to spend that much time on the road.

Although this dean hadn’t said much the entire time, his eyes didn’t leave the little dragon cubs for a moment. With such a childcare teacher, he will definitely pay attention to his cub as well.
Lansin, “My child also fits in very well with other cubs around him and is a very worry-free child. He has also passed all his classes so far.”

“As you can see, our centre is relatively small and the library is under construction. We have a lot of plants in the backyard that he should like. Seven and a half… his lessons are ahead of the other cubs. I’ll have separate lessons at his original pace, is that okay?”

Shen Mian originally had no intention of refusing the other party, but he had to clearly inform the specifics of the centre to avoid future disputes and to allow parents to consider the situation.

Lansin smiled in surprise, “It turns out to be a library under construction. Your centre’s facilities are already very good. Many centre’s don’t have large ecological fields, just tiny flower gardens. By the way, I would like to do a walk-in for him, so I can come here the day after tomorrow. Would that be convenient for you?”

Shen Mian was silent for a moment then firmly said, “Yes, although our nursery is remote, there is an ecological field for the dragon cubs to play in.”

Ecological fields = fields of crops = the centre’s field.
No problem.

Shen Mian, “Of course you can. Can I have a copy of his report card?”

Lansin took out his quantum computer and transmitted the file face to face, “His name is Rhein. He is really self-conscious and his grades are not bad. He is a cub that has always kept the teachers from worrying about him.”

Shen Mian opened it up and looked at it. The other party had apparently been in a better centre before and in addition to the compulsory subjects, there was a row of special classes at the bottom. Quizzes from all semesters were in a table and it was impossible to read them all at once. Shen Mian closed his quantum computer, “Is he usually partial towards any subject?”

The little dragon cubs have quite a few mandatory lessons, including basic writing lessons, math lessons and more, in addition to classes related to dragon genus.

Lansin let go of the weight of his heart and smiled as if his eyes were bright, “No, he’s not partial, he’s very balanced.”

Shen Mian and Lansin talked for a while. He could feel the deep old father’s heart from this young-looking dragon. From Lansin’s description, Shen Mian impression of the little dragon cub was: The primary gender was male, well-behaved, quiet and especially fond of plants.

En, it was very similar to Xing Fei’s personality. Such a sensible little dragon cub, no wonder Lansin was relieved.
After the conversation was almost over, Lansin looked at the time and bit Shen Mian farewell, “It’s almost time for dinner, I have to hurry back to work.”

He slightly bowed towards Shen Mian and hurriedly left the centre.

Shen Mian closed the centre’s front door and went back to prepare dinner. Just after passing the mock battle arena, he noticed that the classroom lights were still on. The four little dragon cubs were in the classroom and the little gem dragon was standing next to the podium. The three cubs below were listening attentively.

“…There should be a new dragon cub coming here.”
The little gem dragon was very serious.

Lu Yuan’s mind was full of starships, conquering the stars and getting money, and immediately raised his hand, “I know, they will be paying the Dean!”

Gian nodded, “Correct! We have to take care of the new dragon cub too, or the dean will be very upset.”

Yan Tan, “Yes! We can’t bully the new cub!”

Lu Yuan thought for a moment, “Then let’s prepare a welcoming ceremony to express our welcome to the new dragon cub!”

Gian raised a practical question, “We don’t have any money.”

Yan Tan and Lu Yuan collapsed at the same time.

“I’ve given all my stock to Livia,” Yan Tan thought for a long time, “Or maybe we should sell paintings on the streets?”

Lu Yuan resurrected, “I can take care of the explanation!”

Gian’s logic completed, “We must take a suspension vehicle or rail to the nearest street. Taxis are too expensive and we don’t know which rail line to take.”

Yan Tan and Lu Yuan collapsed again.

Gian thought about it, “How about selling paintings in the live broadcast?”

Lu Yuan and Yan Tan, “Ah- Good idea! Gian is so smart.”

Lu Yuan mentioned selling things and the dragon cub stood up on the table, “You could find some great looking drawings to draw on crafting cardstock and sell them as bookmarks!”

Xing Fei listened quietly, then unscrewed the lid of the thermos and drank water: No matter how much was discussed, it was always necessary to ask the Dean when the discussion ended.

Lu Yuan jumped down and took Xing Fei’s hand. “Little sister can write poetry too.”

Xing Fei, who was suddenly dragged into the conversation, blinked and said in unison with Gian, “But… we don’t have any money to deliver it.”

Shen Mian listened for a while, spitting out ideas on the inside like the plants spawning from mana: Lu Yuan was obsessed with selling goods and the sea of stars, Gian seemed to be an obscure miser, Yan Tan’s thoughts were full of drawing and the little girl was clever and quiet but only had books and freedom on her mind.

Knowing that the new dragon cub was an elven dragon, this sub-species has an inexplicable obsession with farming and he didn’t know what else they had a fondness for besides farming.

Shen Mian had a brief meeting after dinner and informed them about the new dragon cub, then coaxing them to go to bed. It was a real struggle for him to take three energetic and one particularly energetic cubs by himself – mainly referring to the lulling to sleep session. The dragon cubs, who weren’t crazy enough during the day, rolled over in their blankets in various ways and started pretending to sleep after the story was told.

After Shen Mian closed the door, he heard the movement of Lu Yuan jumping out of bed with a thud.

Shen Mian, “…”

He put one hand to his brow and returned to his dorm in silence.

The dorm was empty, without the adult dragon, who was always lazily waiting at the table.
Shen Mian sat on a chair and his mind drifted off for a moment before opening his quantum computer and pulling up Rhein’s file.

The archives had photos. Rhein was a golden elven dragon like Lansin, with thick, long golden hair and wings, with a genderless beauty.

Further down was the report card. In a row of more than a dozen courses, he glanced at them and they all hovered around 80 marks- the total mark for all subjects in childcare centres was 130 and the passing mark was 78.

In other words, Rhein was on the verge of failing all his classes but miraculously passed all of them. It’s true that he wasn’t partial to any subject: the highest grade was 81 and the lowest was 78.

Shen Mian, “?”

Dean Shen had the angelic face of Lansin in front of his eyes and the old father’s words playing over and over in his mind:
“He’s really self-conscious.”

“Grades are not bad.”

“He’s not partial, he’s very balanced.”

Dean Shen felt that he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.

The author has something to say:

  1. The kods probably another school tyrant. To the point he cañ tailor his grades. There’s no way that can be a coincidence, it happens too frequently

    1. Really? I just thought from how mian mian recalled the father’s words that it was probably because of the fact that the kid is self-conscious that his dad says his grades are good even though his barely passing and when he said he was balanced it actually meant all his subjects are barely passing not that he’s scores are good in all of them
