ARIOCC Chapter 5

Lion Cat

He couldn’t tell that the other actually had a cat at home.

Pei Shiyi looked at him in surprise. This big bag had all kinds of rations and snacks and even two bags of cat milk powder.

Pei Shiyi paid, picked up the bag given to him by the shopkeeper, and waited for Lord Director to settle the bill before pushing the door open and going out.

Bao Jin had so many things that the shopkeeper split them into two bags to fit everything.

The two men were not humans so there was no problem with them being able to carry it. Pei Shiyi peacefully left Bao Jin behind and left him to carry the bags by himself and walk slowly.

“Come in.”
Pei Shiyi opened the cat cafe’s door.

The first floor had been emptied and with Pei Shiyi, the entire first floor was dust-free and frighteningly clean, but the home was completely empty. There was no place to entertain people at all.

The cats were sleeping upstairs. Pei Shiyi gently walked upstairs and went into the bedroom to take a look. The four cats were sleeping on all fours, Egg Yolk confusedly squatting in the doorway. As soon as Pei Shiyi opened the door, Egg Yolk immediately woke up.

Egg Yolk carefully squeezed out the door. Pei Shiyi gently closed the door and whispered, “Not sleeping anymore?”

Egg Yolk rubbed against his trouser leg, sat at Pei Shiyi’s feet with a thump.  While combing his fur and washing his face, he said, “No, Yun Chao will arrive in the afternoon.”
With bright eyes open, he looked curiously at the AMB director carrying bags. “Boss, is this your friend?”

Pei Shiyi sorted the various cat supplies in the bag and said without looking up, “No, an overseer.”

“Unfortunately,” Bao Jin put one hand in his pocket and placed the bag in Pei Shiyi’s hand with the other, “I’m a supervisor, responsible for helping you adapt to modern society in the next three months, and incidentally correcting certain behaviours of yours to prevent possible accidents.”

The more Pei Shiyi listened, the more he felt that the responsibility of the “supervisor” was similar to that of a parent. He looked at Bao Jin suspiciously and searched his phone for the definition of a supervisor.

A supervisor refers to a person who has guardianship over the person, property and all other legal rights and interests of an incapable person as well as a person with limited civil capacity.

Pei Shiyi, “…”

He now wanted to throw Bao Jin out.

Egg Yolk licked his paws and curiously said, “Are you from the AMB?”

“Yes.” Pei Shiyi stacked the cans into a straight line. “He’s called…”
He turned his head. “What’s your name?”

Egg Yolk, “??”

Bao Jin said, “Bao Jin”

Pei Shiyi said, “The Bao as in favouring one over the other1?”

Bao Jin glanced at him, “Bao as in lightweight2.”

(T/N: This part is a play on words. There isn’t an exact translation to make this joke possible )

Pei Shiyi, who remembered the first day the two met, “…”
He choked for a moment, missed the opportunity to counterattack, and had to figure out that next time he must scratch back.

Pei Shiyi was not used to doing housework and in the end, in half a day, he only packed a few things.

Egg yolk jumped on the table. It’s hard for him to be such a fat cat, but his jumping action was actually still considered light. His belly shook out a bunch of waves of flesh. “Boss, I’ll help you.”

Pei Shiyi smoothly touched a handful of hair, picked out a fish toy from the bag and stuffed it under Egg Yolk’s belly.
“No need, you can go play.”

Pei Shiyi really thought that he was just wasting time: A bird like him had not done any of this before, how should he exercise his hands-on ability?

Pei Shiyi brushed his hand and all the messy cat supplies in the bags were placed where they should be.

Before Pei Shiyi breathed a sigh of relief, there was another bag of things in front of him. He turned his head. Director Bao had taken Egg Yolk into his arms who knows when, with one hand on Egg Yolk’s belly and the other hand had just left Pei Shiyi.

Apparently, this bag was not bought by Bao Jin for his own cat but bought for the cat cafe.

“A meet and greet gift for the juniors,” Bao Jin made a gesture of invitation, his face still expressionless. “Please accept it for them.”

Oh, so capable, but you still want to rub other people’s cats?
Pei Shiyi shook the bag and the things inside went where they should go. He was so comfortable and even smiled slightly at Bao Jin and said, “Then I’ll thank you on behalf of my cats.”
He deliberately added accents to the word “my” and politely said to the Egg Yolk, “Entertain the guests well.”

Bao Jin, “…”
Given that he was still holding Pei Shiyi’s cat in his arms, Bao Jin also immediately retorted.

……

In the afternoon, near dusk, the lion cat, Yun Chao, finally arrived.

But she didn’t come alone, she brought a surprise to Pei Shiyi- she also picked up a cat.

Like Egg Yolk said, Miss Yun Chao is a pure-bred lion cat. Not to mention her almond eyes, they were different colours, one yellow and the other blue, which was commonly known as gold and silver eyes. Her body was so white that there was no variegated colour and she looked like the first pile of snow. Her ears were pink and tender and the gorgeous fur collar on her neck looked very excellent.

When she walked in, the sunlight cut out a fluffy figure sitting crouched in front of Pei Shiyi, the big fluffy tail circled around her front paws, and Yun Chao nodded at Pei Shiyi.

The end heavy and reserved, the pure white and colourless long hair added to the luxurious feeling. Even within the lion cat kind, she was definitely the most beautiful one.

Pei Shiyi returned a smile.
But…
Pei Shiyi looked at the furball behind Yun Chao, slightly surprised- Yun Chao actually didn’t come by herself.

The snow-white large furball was followed by another furball, shrunken behind Yun Chao, even the head did not dare to emerge. Only two dark ears emerged from behind Yun Chao, twitching twice from time to time.

Yun Chao crouched in the doorway, tilting her head to look at Pei Shiyi.

This was the entrance to the cat cafe. The street was full of people so she could not talk.

Pei Shiyi turned sideways and made way for the two cats, “Come on in.”

Yun Chao gave a soft cry and took the cat that was glued to her back into the cat cafe with her.

The two furballs passed by Pei Shiyi. Pei Shiyi only then found that behind Yun Chao was actually a seal bicolour ragdoll. It was probably very scared seeing a stranger, its tail hanging, clinging to Yun Chao’s body, a pair of sea-blue eyes carefully watched Pei Shiyi.

Why was this ragdoll so thin? It was almost out of shape.

The ragdoll noticed Pei Shiyi’s sight and lowered its head more carefully, even its eyes turned in one direction, not daring to look at Pei Shiyi.

Pei Shiyi thoughtfully averted his gaze, leaned down, rubbed Yun Chao’s ear and said, “It’s been hard for you, go upstairs first and rest for a while, Egg Yolk is also up there.”

Yun Chao rubbed against his hand, turned her head and called at ragdoll, and the two cats went up to the second floor together.

Pei Shiyi also followed and went up.

Yun Chao probably does not have the problem of adapting, but the ragdoll that Yun Chao brought back may be frightened by other cats. The skinny little ragdoll, with a faint demon aura, at first glance, it seemed that it was a coincidence that it gained wisdom and it was a little demon cub that didn’t know anything.

Upstairs, there was also the AMB director. What if he bullies his kitty?
What? The ragdoll still isn’t part of his family?
That does not matter. It has reached his territory, so it is counted as his.

Pei Shiyi followed upstairs.

Second Floor
The two orange cats that had napped were up and were circling the new ragdoll.

This ragdoll was too thin, but fortunately, it was still clean. It was a bicolour ragdoll, had two ears pointed and it seemed to have wandered outside for a long time. There were still some places on the body that lost fur, revealing scratches scratched by other wild cats, once away from Yun Chao, it cowered on the ground.

Egg yolk almost caught up to twenty catties, as large as two of the ragdoll. Walking around, the belly flesh slowly shook out waves. Not to mention the big orange cat that could crush it, the leopard cat version Copper Coin was also a larger cat species. He was also extremely oppressive around the ragdoll, who had not fully grown yet.

The size of these two obviously made the ragdoll very uneasy, it was in place in a ball, not even daring to breathe.

Egg Yolk would love to lick it in a friendly way, but the huge orange mountain of flesh made him look like a bully, and the ragdoll didn’t even dare look at him, turning its face sideways, right to Copper Coin.

Copper Coin thought he was handsome and dashing, the Pan An3 of cats. He smiled a gentle smile at the ragdoll, did a catwalk and walked past.
Don’t be afraid meow-

Unfortunately, the little ragdoll had just gained consciousness not long ago. It could not read Copper Coin’s imitation of a humans smile and only saw Copper Coin’s pointed teeth.

It’s over, it’s about to be eaten.
The ragdoll closed its eyes and slumped to the ground in despair, whispering a plea for mercy.

Copper Coin, “…”
He faced the condemning eyes of Egg Yolk and stammered, “I did not, I did not threaten her, I just wanted to look good in front of her…” He just wanted to show a little gentlemanly gesture, this was the only soft and cute little sister in their cat cafe.

Egg Yolk was very contemptuous. “Smelly hooligan.”

As a new cat, Yun Chao was scared at all. She went upstairs on her own and jumped on the table, lazily lying down, looking down at the two silly cats sniffing around at the ragdoll, her big tail gently tapping the table.

Bao Jin did not bother them, but leaned on the table and watched Yun Chao intently. The two tortoiseshell kittens, one on his left shoulder and the other on his right, Bao Jin let them lie on his body, calmly and steadily becoming a director cat climbing frame.

When Pei Shiyi came up, he happened to see this scene.

The two little tortoiseshells heard the movement and turned their heads to look at the stairway, both with the same expression on their little faces. “Meow?”

When Pei Shiyi saw this 1.8-metre cat climbing frame, the arc of his mouth froze for a few seconds.

The little tortoiseshell’s refused to let him go, squatting on Bao Jin’s shoulder with their left and right paws stepping on each other, anxiously calling at Pei Shiyi.
These two cubs were fed by Pei Shiyi for two days. Seeing Pei Shiyi, they were as affectionate as seeing a milk bottle.

Bao Jin looked back at him and reached out to hold a small tortoiseshell and give it to Pei Shiyi.

Little tortoiseshell, “Mi-”

Pei Shiyi really can not hold a cold face, smiled and took the small tortoiseshell.

Bo Jin sent off one sticky spirit, took the other small tortoiseshell off his right shoulder, gently stroked the kitten’s back, and his gaze fell on the three cats on the carpet.

With such a nice sun, it was time to find a soft place to sleep.
Bao Jin looked at the sofa on the side and thought that it would be nice to be able to lie on it for a while.

Pei Shiyi put one hand around the little tortoiseshell, leaned down and greeted Yun Chao with a smile. “Hello Yun Chao, I’m Pei Shiyi.”

Yun Chao stood up, her tail once again circled in front of her, very restrainedly extended her front paws and said, “Hello, I am a lion cat called Yun Chao. I received a message from Egg Yolk earlier and heard that you are willing to teach cultivation so I came over, so can I discuss with you about cultivation during off-hours?”

Yun Chao was obviously a cat that loved cleanliness very much. She trekked here, still neatly groomed, and her toe pads were not covered with dust, still pink and tender.

Pei Shiyi slightly leaned down and gently held Miss Yun Chao’s front paw. “Of course.”

Although this rare creature had lived in the mountains for an unknown period of time, his action was graceful, not half as bad as the so-called “gentleman” outside.

Bao Jin gently squeezed the small tortoiseshell’s paws, thinking: he really was a relative of the Long Que. He could perform a phoenix version of a peacock spreading its tail feathers by shaking paws.

  1. Ahh… so Bao Jin still paid for the cat food, how decent. I picture an A+ grade young man laying down on a fluffy wool carpet, enjoying th sun from a french window. How heart-warming to view.

Thank you for the chapter! It’s alright that the updates are slow, real life’s a great hassle~~
