ARIOCC Chapter 6

“So,” Egg Yolk raised his head to look at Yun Chao, hesitantly motioning to the ragdoll with his tail, “This one… What’s the situation?”

Yun Chao jumped off the table. The ragdoll heard the movement and quickly turned to Yun Chao. Egg Yolk and Copper Coin were looking at it, so it didn’t dare to stand up and could only lie on the floor and scoot over, slowly towards Yun Chao. Its small face immediately hid in Yun Chao’s snow-white long fur.

The figure of this ragdoll was completely supported by its long hair, in fact, it was light and had no weight. Yun Chao was leaned against but still remained motionless.

Yun Chao said, “I picked her up. I saw that she almost fainted from hunger and thinking that the was boss recruiting cats and may still be short of cats, I brought her back.”

Egg Yolk helplessly said, “Do you think her personality is suitable for work in the cat cafe.”
The cats in the cat cafe should be cute. Although Yun Chao was cold and distant didn’t meet this standard, she was not timid. Even if a human leaned over, she would not be shy and hide away. She would only lie in place, gazing at the human with an expression like they were going to heaven. If she’s interested, she might also reward a pet. This ragdoll was not the same, she was easily frightened. Just facing two cats, him and Copper Coin, she was so scared and stuck to the ground, not daring to get up.

Yun Chao rhetorically asked, “Could there be cats who are not afraid of bullies and hooligans?”
Although the leopard cat had a good starting point, it didn’t prevent his expression to look wretched. As for Egg Yollk… he was too fat. Normal humans would be weak if they saw someone of their own kind twice their size.

The bully Egg Yolk, “…”

The hooligan Copper Coin, “…”

Copper Coin looked at Egg Yolk: My goodness, she’s so fierce.

Egg Yolk: Just get used to it. Who let her be so pretty.

Pei Shiyi smiled and looked at them for a while, stretched out his hand and patted the heads of the two orange cats comfortingly. Egg Yolk and Copper Coin were indiscriminately attacked, their heads were buried behind Pei Shiyi and they did not say a word.

Yun Chao said, “Her name is Fondant, and… I picked her up on the street.” She paused for a moment, ignoring the question of why an expressive breed like a ragdoll was on the street, then said, “She fought with other cats so she’s a little afraid of cats. Although her personality is a little shy, she’s still very close to humans.”

Pei Shiyi’s gaze fell on the scratches on Fondant’s back, guessing that this fight might’ve referred to being bullied unilaterally. It’s no wonder she was afraid of other cats.

Yun Chao raised her tail and patted Fondant, motioning her to walked to Pei Shiyi.

Fondant walked up to Pei Shiyi, tilted her head and called out to him softly.
Like a ragdoll, Fondant’s had dark fur around her ears and eyes. There was also a patch of dark fur on her back. The rest of her body was snow white. Both her eyes were ocean blue and the colour of the fur around the eyes, that colour could almost be described as deep, but her gaze was full as water waves, her purring more delicate and sweet.

No wonder the ragdoll was called the fairy cat.

Pei Shiyi sat on the carpet and let Fondant carefully step on his knees, reaching out and stroking Fondant’s satin-silky long hair.

The soft long fur went through Pei Shiyi’s fingers, with a faint cool air in the air-conditioned room, Pei Shiyi, who had a lot of knowledge about cats, noticed something was wrong with the touch- ragdolls were a long-haired cat, the length of Fondant’s hair seemed not quite qualified.

Pei Shiyi didn’t move and estimated the length of Fondant’s fur. Yes, it was indeed shorter and not within the standard length range, but the difference was very small. For humans, this difference couldn’t be measured unless a measuring tool was used.

“Fondant is very obedient.”
Pei Shiyi pet down the back of Fondant.

Hearing the compliment, Fondant stepped on his knees and slid into his arms with little effort, her tail resting on Pei Shiyi’s wrist.

Thinking about what Yun Chao said earlier, when she picked up Fondant, she was almost starved and was probably an abandoned domestic cat. As to why she was abandoned…
Pei Shiyi felt Fondant’s big fur collar that wasn’t too thick and guessed why.

Fondant wasn’t a purebred ragdoll.
But so what? Does beautiful fur have anything to do with the breed?

The delicate and soft Fondant rolled over in Pei Shiyi’s arms, revealing her fluffy soft belly, four hairy paws curled up, ocean blue large round eyes, small pink nose and small pink mouth, constantly calling to Pei Shiyi.

Although she was abandoned, after all, she was raised by humans. Fondant still liked to be close to humans.

Bao Jin walked over to Pei Shiyi, observed for a moment, and said, “Very good at being coquettish.”

It was rare to hear a pleasant sentence from Bo Jin’s mouth. Pei Shiyi gave up on choking. He curled up a long leg, one hand holding Fondant’s face and lightly scratched Fondant’s jaw and said, “She’s very similar to her name.”

Fondant was a pastry craft used in cake making. The finished product was often expensive and beautiful, but the cat Fondant was much sweeter than the cake fondant.

The small tortoiseshell on Bao Jin’s body stared straight at the flicking tail of Fondant. It crawled down the expensive shirt and pants of the Lord Director and pounced on Fondant’s tail.

Fondant was startled and turned her head to find that it was a kitten, so she meowed and let the little tortoiseshell pounce around.

The twin tortoiseshells, one pouncing on her tail and the other nestled in the ragdoll’s bosom.

The Lord Director, who didn’t have a cat, rubbed his fingers, leaned over and looked at Copper Coin, who looking at the tortoiseshells, and picked him up, stuffing him into his arms.

The feel of the leopard cat’s fur was also top-notch.

Copper Coin lying in Bao Jin’s arms, from the tip of his ears to the tip of his tail, stiffened into a French baguette with a black pattern and orange base colour.
He didn’t forget who carried him back to the AMB, and he didn’t forget that this was the real big Boss.

Why are you petting me? Why not pet the silly and sweet Egg Yolk?

Copper Coin kitty with tears: I have it too hard.

At the end of the day, Copper Coin finally sent off the off-duty Bao Jin with tears in his eyes.

Egg Yolk strangely said, “Do you like Mr Bao that much?”

“I like him…” Copper Coin swallowed the last two words with difficulty. “A lot.”
The desire to survive caught him in time- a boss of Bao Jin’s level, even if talked about him behind his back, he might not know.

Pei Shiyi, who was feeding the twin baby tortoiseshells, said, “…You’re going to meet with him every day for the next three months, are you surprised?” He wasn’t surprised anyways.

Copper Coin let out a howl.

Egg Yolk was startled. “What’s wrong with you?”

Yun Chao said, “Probably out of happiness.”

Copper Coin was in tears. “…Mhm, I’m happy, very happy.”

Evening

After Pei Shiyi put two kittens that were clinging to him to sleep, Yun Chao knocked on the door outside.

Pei Shiyi had just finished showering and buttoned his pyjamas to the top when he heard the movement. “Please come in.”

Yun Chao gently squeezed in through the doorway, followed by Fondant.

Fondant snuggled up to Yun Chao. The two white fur balls sat on the carpet, tilting their heads to look at Pei Shiyi.

Pei Shiyi simply got off the bed and sat in front of the two beauties, smiled and said, “What’s wrong?”

Fondant meowed and drilled into Pei Shiyi’s arms. She was a soft and sweet furball, even Pei Shiyi couldn’t refuse.

Yun Chao said, “Fondant has something to say to you. She was afraid that you would not understand so she called me over.” Fondant accidentally gained spiritual intelligence, although she was smart, in the end, her cultivation level was too low and could not speak the human language. The boss’s cultivation was very powerful, but they did not know what species he was, so maybe he does not understand their language.

Pei Shiyi held Fondant’s front paw and shook it. “I can understand, what does little Fondant want to say to me?”

Fondant’s ears gradually pressed down, not knowing what to say. She looked at Yunchao at a loss for words.

The lion cat sat and looked at her quietly.

With the awakening of her spiritual wisdom, Fondant actually understood why she had been abandoned by the family that always liked her- she was mixed, not a purebred ragdoll cat, and she did not have the gorgeous and beautiful long hair like others of her kind.

After half a month of being stranded, she was able to find a new home, but she was worried that she would be abandoned again because of her lineage.

But… wouldn’t she be deceiving them if she didn’t say so? Was she going to deceive such a nice person?
Fondant tilted her head and looked at Pei Shiyi, then slowly dropped her head and meowed in a low voice, “I’m a mixed cat, you’ll be made fun of by insiders for raising me.”

Pei Shiyi slowly pet along the back of Fondant, hearing those words, he said, “That’s because they’re jealous that I raised a little fairy.”

Fondant froze and quietly said, “Are you going to keep me? I’m not as cute as the other ragdolls.”

Pei Shiyi said, “Fondant is cute not because Fondant is a ragdoll, but because Fondant is Fondant.”

He laughed in a low voice, “Our family’s little fairy.”

Fondant’s hairy paw clung to Pei Shiyi’s arm, shyly burying her face into Pei Shiyi’s arms.

So far the cat cafe had four adult cats. Pei Shiyi did not recruit other big cats for a short while and the renovation officially began.

During the renovation, Pei Shiyi took the cats in the cat cafe out to take a photo album.

Egg Yolk snuck into Pei Shiyi’s arms after taking pictures and ate the jerky he brought, “Boss, why are we taking so many pictures, it’s very expensive.”

They didn’t have enough money.

Pei Shiyi kissed his ear and smiled, “You’ll know after a while.”

Xian Chan was located at the end of Shi Liu Street, but unlike the other stores, it was a small, single building. The store was large, but the layout was very general, but not a regular square. It looked a bit twisted compared to other stores.

Pei Shiyi and the designer had to communicate several times before finally finalised the fairy tale style decoration. Several windows were expanded, light curtains were hung on both sides. They didn’t have a heavy blackout effect but they were good. Other decorations had not yet been put up, but they have already created a dreamy taste with their own effort.

The seating arrangement was based on that of a milk tea store, with a row of high tables and high stools near the counter, and low tables and sofas in the window area. The floor was covered with a thin beige carpet and the walls were nailed with shelves (cat climbing frames) connected by wooden ladders so that the cats could jump at will. The greenery that can be shared with humans was chosen as an accent, hidden between the high and low, perfectly taking advantage of the terrain and creating a sense of mystery.

Iron wall lamps, solid wood furniture, imperceptible small decorations… the renovated cat cafe was like a treasure trove full of small surprises.

And these were not Kong Fanyang’s idea, but the employer Pei Shiyi’s idea.

Kong Fanyang watched the tall thin figure in front of him reach out and take a doll from a high shelf, stuffing it into the arms of the leopard cat. The leopard cat jumped in shock, catapulting in place. Mr Pei, whose prank had succeeded, held the high table and laughed.

The cat cafe, like its owner, hid flashes of brilliance everywhere.
But this boss was brighter than the soft cat cafe.

The successfully renovated cat cafe was like it gained a new life, with a new look inside and out.

Kong Fanyang marvelled, “I didn’t even think it could have this effect.”

Pei Shiyi hugged Fondant in his arms. This baby had been in the cat cafe for a few days and had been raised to a normal weight. With a long satin-like smooth fur, the beauty of the little fairy was back in business.

Fondant had not seen a human other than the boss for a long time. She was very close to humans and had been watching Kong Fanyang with curious eyes.

Pei Shiyi lowered his head, smiled and said, “Does Fondant want to go over?”

Fondant delicately called out, “Meow.” I want to.

Kong Fanyang was flattered. “Does that mean I can hold her?”

“Of course, our little princess really likes you.”
Pei Shiyi gently handed Fondant in his arms to Kong Fanyang.

Kong Fanyang was also an expert cat keeper and quickly found the best position to hold the cat.

This feeling was almost like hugging a large cloud. Emitting a sweet aroma like cotton candy, Kong Fanyang was enchanted. “Having a cat is great.”

Pei Shiyi walked to the bar and poured two drinks, a cup was pushed to Kong Fanyang. “You will be scratched by the one at home if you go home like this.”

Kong Fanyang smelled like another cat. There was a British short hair at home. Once he went home, he will definitely be ignored by the little ancestor for several days. “It’s worth being scratched to death.”
He walked towards Pei Shiyi. When he glanced down and saw the open booklet on the bar, he suddenly said, “What is this?”

This thing was upright, like a large photo album, very beautifully done. The point wasn’t that it looked good, the point were the photos with blue backgrounds placed inside!

All of them looked like ID photos, but the protagonists in the photos were not people, but cats.

Taking ID photos of cats? You sure are a genius.

  1. They ARE employees. Why not have IDs? The local cat cafe by me has intro posters of all the cats on the walls, which is a charming touch (they are all also up for adoption). Who doesn’t like drowning in piles of fluff? It is worth making the ancestors at home angry!

Thanks for your hard work translating!
