ARIOCC Chapter 4

Renovation

Bonus Ko-fi chapter

The beautiful, rare and good at combat Pei Shiyi finally got the subsidy and loan. Together, it wasn’t a small amount. If the cat cafe only opened on one floor, it was definitely enough.

And now, the cat cafe had two big cats, adding Yun Chao would make it three. Pei Shiyi already planned to open only the first floor as the business area. Five cats were the most appropriate number.

Now they’re only short of two cats.
Pei Shiyi counted that the number was not enough, so he had to ask the Tong Que to help him pay attention to whether there was a beast or demon that needed to work like Copper Coin that was more similar in appearance to a cat. It was fine as long as their temperament was good and they were close to humans.

The Long Que agreed. The work desk next to hers was the poverty alleviation team and they were often in contact with non-humans who were short of funds.

But them having to be close to humans made it slightly difficult for the Long Que. those who are in urgent need of poverty alleviation were generally creatures that had just entered the human world and were more resistant to humans.
Although the Long Que promised Pei Shiyi, she still prepared for when he couldn’t recruit cats.

Pei Shiyi simply wrote a recruitment notice: Our store is now recruiting a cat, gender does not matter, has to be an adult. Requiring a gentle personality and can be kissed, food, housing and combing fur included, wages negotiable.

The small blackboard with chalk writing was set up on the windowsill of his floor-to-ceiling window. As the writing was interesting, many people passing by could not help but stop and look twice, and young people were laughing, taking out their cell phones to take photos and posting them or sending them to friends.

The day the AMB subsidy funds arrived, Pei Shiyi successfully contacted an interior designer online. The other party was a professional, so Pei Shiyi just proposed the style of decoration he wanted.

Since the cat cafe had the word “cafe” in it, of course, it must have the quiet atmosphere of a cafe, but it shouldn’t be too solemn. It should lean towards the style of a milk tea store.
But Xian Xhan didn’t have such a large glass wall. The structure was more complex, turning it into a sweet, mysterious fairytale style was just right.

“… It’s almost summer, it’s best for the floor to be padded with woven carpets. At that time, the first floor will also be divided into a bar for ordering and a dining area.” Although Pei Shiyi did not know how to decorate and design, the winged clan were naturally born with a keen sense of beauty.

The designer themself was also a cat slave. Just listen to the first half of his description, they could not help but feel the desire to go, secretly planning to go behind the back of their master.
But after looking around, the designer’s heated brain quickly cooled down: the first-floor area was not small, but the layout was not good, not normal at all. The whole house was also dark and dreary, the lighting was also very ordinary. To decorate the kind of style Pei Shiyi requested was a laborious task.

Seeing that he hadn’t answered for a long time, Pei Shiyi smiled and said, “Mr Kong?”

The designers cooled head instantly heated again. “Don’t worry, I will do my best to replicate the feel you want!”
He almost burst into tears as soon as he spoke: Why was I so sure!

It must be because Mr Pei’s looks were unfair.
Kong Fanyang silently thought.

However, since he said those words, the water had been spilled and Kong Fanyan had to pretend to get into the feeling since he had already said so. He had no choice but to bite the bullet and do it.

Pei Shiyi smiled as he sent away the sad-looking designer.

While the designer and Pei Shiyi were communicating their ideas, Copper Coin and Egg Yolk met officially.

Although Egg Yolk was just an ordinary cat demon and not a natural-born beast like the Zhu Qian, he was not afraid of Copper Coin because he had been practising for a few hundred years. What he was worried about was that Copper Coin wouldn’t be easy to get along with.

The leopard cat was a much more precious cat species. Even if Copper Coin was not really a leopard cat, he was also similar to the creatures that walk through dense forests in the middle of the night and had a very different character from that of domestic cats.

Egg Yolk could imagine the expressions of the humans when they see Copper Coin. They would certainly be taking countless photos while circling around Copper Coin and also offering countless rainbow farts.

The two kittens didn’t know any better and played with Egg Yolk’s tail.
Egg Yolk turned his head and looked at the two kittens, then walked in front of Copper Coin.

Copper Coin watched in amazement as the orange mountain of flesh slowly moved over. He obviously did not have short legs, but his stomach was only a few centimetres from the ground. His round face actually looked petite and lovely against his body. His features were actually quite beautiful.

He had seen fat ones, but he had never seen such a fatty with his own eyes. No matter how good the stray cats ate outside, they would always fight for territory and it was not conducive to the use of their talents to grow recklessly, they had a normal amount of fat, though.
Egg Yolk was different. He had been staying in the cat cafe eating three meals a day and additional meals when guests came. There weren’t any cats who wanted to steal his position, so naturally, he could be as fat as he wanted.

But he did look good, even if he was fat, he was quite a delicate fat cat.

Egg Yolk had already come up to Copper Coin and Copper Coin, like a mountain, did not move. Looking at the kind cat, Egg Yolk relaxed and licked Copper Coin’s ear.

He always took care of the two kittens and was experienced in licking fur. Copper Coin was originally squatting with his tail circled around. After he was licked by Egg Yolk a few times, he gradually closed his eyes and shrunk into Egg Yolk’s belly, also happening to be illuminated by the sun.

The leopard cat was light and compared to the heavy big orange cat, he was simply considered small, perfectly inlaid in the furry belly of the big orange cat.

When Pei Shiyi walked up to the second floor, he saw this scene. The big orange cat circled the small orange cat, two tortoiseshell kittens lying on the big cat with their stomachs out. The four cats slept on the sun-drenched sofa, piled into a small furry mountain.

It was quite harmonious.
Pei Shiyi silently smiled.

Instead of disturbing the four cats on their lunch break, he walked downstairs, turned on his phone, and while catching up on the various knowledge on cat cafes, he posted information about hiring pastry chefs and waiters online.

Pei Shiyi didn’t need to sleep at all. His intention was to catch up on all the required knowledge before opening and to buy some new cat toys and cat food tomorrow.

Cat climbing frames, cat food, canned food, toys… Everything needed money, he may also need to buy a computer…
Pei Shiyi covered his forehead and let out a long sigh: He had gotten so old and had never been short of “money”. This was his first time worrying about money.

Pei Shiyi calculated and thought that he might as well go back to the tomb tomorrow to see what could be sold.

The next day.
Pei Shiyi’s good mood was completely destroyed when he opened the door in the morning- the director of the AMB who could sleep at any time was standing at his door.

Pei Shiyi just looked at him for a bit and started to feel sleepy himself.
Who knows how long it had been since a race as energetic as his had felt this sleepy.
He propped up his forehead and wearily said, “Is the bureau about to go out of business?”

Seeing the director’s steady posture, he knew that he had been standing here for a while.

Bao Jin, “…”

Originally, the Long Que was planning to come with him this morning, but when she saw Pei Shiyi’s two forms, she became shocked, saying “crap” all the way to Bao Jin’s office.
“Boss, a Phoenix, crap!”

Bo Jin was awakened by her “crap” and leaned on the mahogany chair, looking at her.

Dragon Sparrow took a step back in fear. “Boss, I heard that Mr Pei who came yesterday is a phoenix? Is the danger rating still red level?”

Bo Jin frowned slightly and nodded his head.

The Long Que muttered, “I’ve actually been in such close contact with an elder from my family…”

The Long Que was in a trance. “I actually didn’t worship him yesterday or hug his thighs… I, I, I-I regret it so much! I want to see the elder again!”

Bao Jin who didn’t want to see Pei Shiyi again at all, “…”

The Long Que thought about it for a while and lamented, “I really have eyes that do not know gold and jade.”

Without waiting for Bao Jin’s answer, the Long Que said, “Boss, don’t look at me like that! Mr Pei is a phoenix and I’m a peacock, our two clans are related. I was blind yesterday and didn’t recognize it so I have to pay my respects today.”

Phoenix’s, whose strength could reach the red level, were all seniors, on the same level as her boss. Of course, as a junior, she had to re-adjust her position and worship the big boss.

Bao Jin, “Nice timing, you go for me.”

The Long Que shook her head, “No, no, no. He is a red level, his strength is similar to you, boss. It goes against the rules if I go.”

Bao Jin, “…”

The Long Que stared at the cold face of her boss and finally figured out that something was wrong. “Boss, do you and that person have something against each other?”

Bao Jin said, “Water and fire are not compatible.”

The Long Que said, “This is not the elder’s fault. Boss, you were too offensive the first time you met the elder. Do you know what it means to be so close to the neck within the winged clan?”

Of course, Bao Jin, as a candle dragon, would not understand the habits of the winged clan.

The Long Que said, “Generally speaking, being so close to the neck either means that you want to fight or you’re being indecent.”

She muttered, “Forget it, I’d rather not go with you. What if the elder reprimands you and also looks at me in the same way.”

Bao Jin, “…”

After the Long Que left, Bao Jin leaned back in his chair, thinking that he might as well hibernate in place and forget about it.

And so what appeared in front of Pei Shiyi in the morning was a candle dragon that lifeless.

Bao Jin originally wanted to apologize for his rudeness, but the first time he met Pei Shiyi, the other party’s attitude blocked his apology.

Bao Jin blankly thought: An apology would not improve the relationship. He and Pei Shiyi not getting along had nothing to do with the misunderstanding, it was just a disharmony in attributes.

Bao Jin held a red form between two fingers. “Look at this.”

Pei Shiyi gaze fell on the form. With his eyesight, he could easily read the words above. The first line of bolded black letters clearly stating “danger level: red.” There were various regulations for this level. Basically, it was to prevent the emergence of behaviours harmful to society.

Pei Shiyi crossed his arms and continued to read the form until the last line: Within the first three months of entering the human world, a supervisor was required to… supervise daily activities?

Pei Shiyi raised his eyebrows. “Supervisor?”

Bao Jin shook the form and after a slight paper sound, the form disappeared in his hand.

Pei Shiyi said, “You?”

Bao Jin nodded, “Me.”

Pei Shiyi put one hand against his jaw, looked at him faintly for a long time, and finally turned around and closed the door of the cat cafe.
Yun Chao would arrive this afternoon. He had to buy cat nests and come back- there weren’t enough cat nests at home. After all, Yun Chao was a girl and of course he couldn’t let her squeeze with Egg Yolk and the others to sleep.

With Bao Jin’s official affairs, he could only follow Pei Shiyi to where ever he goes.

Pei Shiyi walked for a few minutes and knew without turning back that Bao Jin was still following behind him. He endured, but still couldn’t hold back. “This director, may I ask when your ‘supervision’ ends today?”

Although Bao Jin’s pace was not fast, his strides were long and caught up to Pei Shiyi within two or three steps. Hearing those words, he said, “Unfortunately, I have to stay at the cat cafe every day during work hours.”
Getting closer to Pei Shiyi, he smelled the same smell he had smelled that day in the AMB office- like a scorching sun, radiating a warm aura wantonly.

This kind of warmth was perfect for a nap.
Bao Jin squinted his eyes- he was even more sleepy.

Pei Shiyi, “…Is your so-called supervision torturing me like this?” He almost became sleepy because of Bao Jin.

Bao Jin, “Correction, mutual torture.”

Pei Shiyi pressed his brow and continued on his way.

The pet store was at the other end of the street, and with Pei Shiyi’s pace, he arrived in ten minutes or so. He pushed open the door of the pet store, and because of his upbringing, held the door and waited for Bao Jin to walk in before letting go.

Bo Jin was stunned and walked in with quickened steps.

Pei Shiyi did not care about him. Accompanied by the pet store owner, he chose a milk-tea coloured open cat nest, the colour and style were designed to be generous.

The shopkeeper said, “You have a keen eye, this model became out of stock several times. Is it a male or female treasure at home?”

Pei Shiyi picked out several boxes of canned cat food, taking out a bag of cat food. “It’s a girl, a lion cat.”
He chose his things and mentioned that he was going to pay at the counter.

Before he took out his money, another big bag of things was put down on the side. Hearing the clinging and clanging, it was easy to tell that it was filled with a lot of cans.

Pei Shiyi turned back. The director, who couldn’t wake up all the year, was standing beside him, his hand going down just now.

The big boss director bought a big bag of cat food.
