LBRDI Chapter 78

Back to the Childcare Centre

Of course it’s not possible to bring in goods and it’s also impossible to hire a dragon cub as a model, so they could only talk about it casually- both Lu Yuan and Rhein were just shy of failing the course. Usually, it wasn’t a big deal to Shen Mian to let the cubs play casually when he was live broadcasting, but it would really disturb the cubs’ normal life.

In order to give the dragon cubs a chance to choose, they must first let the dragon cubs have the ability to choose.

Both Shen Mian and the Emperor knew that the other was joking and quickly skirted away from the topic. After dinner, the little dragon cubs followed the emperor to Ming Rong Childcare Centre to play, while Lu Xianzhi instructed Shen Mian and He Xing to stay behind.

Lu Xianzhi took out a stack of thick red envelopes from her small bag, about twenty of them, exactly like the ones she had given to the little dragon cubs before dinner.

After He Xing entered high school, he hadn’t received the Dragon God’s wishes since and was surprised to receive it. “Why are you giving so much today?”

Lu Xianzhi slapped the back of He Xing’s hand.

Although Her Highness had retired from the army for many years, her poise remained unchanged and with one slap, the thick-skinned He Xing withdrew his hand.

Lu Xianzhi, “Will you take it if it’s for you?”

He Xing, “…If you’re giving it to Shen Mian, aren’t you giving me one too?”

Lu Xianzhi took out a few. “These are for our Mian Mian and the other little dragon cubs in the centre that didn’t come.”

Shen Mian knew that such envelopes usually didn’t contain large amounts of money. The highest value of an Imperial non-paper star coin was twenty and an envelope usually contained one star coin. After all, this was just a wish.

Shen Mian took it with both hands. “Thank you, Your Highness.”

Lu Xianzhi pursed her lips and smiled.

He Xing looked around and thought to himself that the rest of the pile was for himself, so he extended his hand as well, “Thank you, mum…”

As expected, Lu Xianzhi let him take it, calmly stood up and patted his clothes. “Your nieces and nephews are coming over. Remember to give it to them.”

He Xing squished his hand and realised that there were two envelopes that were actually empty. “What about mine?”

Lu Xianzhi, “What do you mean yours? You haven’t gotten a wishing star coin since you were 18. I’m still short on two star coins, so make them up yourself.”

He Xing, “…”

Lu Xianzhi smiled at Shen Mian. “I’m going upstairs to change clothes. I’ll be down in a minute.”

Shen Mian stood up and sat down again only after Lu Xianzhi walked up to the second floor, turning his head to look at He Xing who was looking for star coins everywhere. “Didn’t you say there would be no other activities after dinner?”

He Xing was quiet for a moment, suddenly complaining, “Why are you like this?”

Shen Mian, “…”

He Xing, “I’m so wronged.”

Shen Mian, “…”
Dean Shen looked up at the stairs. Her Highness hadn’t come down yet, so Shen Mian beckoned He Xing over.

He Xing leaned over and Shen Mian grabbed his collar to lower his head and kissed him, his voice blurred between his lips and teeth. “Then I’ll coax you.”

……

On the fourth day after the Dragon God Festival, the festive atmosphere had faded and the little dragon cubs had finally gotten over their worries of seeing their elders everywhere and started coming out to spread their joy.

Qin Yi had actually convinced Ke Yu and her grandfather in the past few days and on the fifth day, she packed a bunch of stuff and came over to tell Shen Mian the news.

When Shen Mian asked her how she did it, Little Qin Yi waved her tail. “I just stayed at the parties during the holidays and chatted with every elder that held an interest towards the family.”

The Dragon God Festival had caused many of the Little Duke’s relatives that lived on other planets to gather on the Imperial Star. These families were inextricably linked to the Duke’s family, both close and distant. These relatives were usually beyond reach, but now they were all gathered together and as long as Qin Yi expresses her will, the other elders were very willing to sell the little Duke the benefit of the doubt- those who paid a little attention to the Starnet know that Qiming Childcare Centre had an unspoken relationship with the royal family. Who would be foolish enough not to support the Little Duke’s decision to get close to the royal family?

Besides, they also liked being able to spend more time with the Duke through rare opportunities.

Although the nobles did not participate in politics, they had accumulated wealth and property for generations. Now that the era of peace had arrived, the commoners were rarely given titles, so they were more concerned about their relationship with the nobles.

He Xing was listening to the whole thing and lamented. “None of my classmates at that time were as smart as Qin Yi.”
A dragon cub so young could even figure out the family interests.

“I don’t have to understand them too well. I actually don’t know many of them.” Qin Yi smiled wryly. “But they all want me to remember them, so I’m sure they’ll find their presence in front of me.”

Shen Mian patted He Xing’s shoulder.

He Xing, “What’s wrong?”

Shen Mian, “I now think you’re a genuine big baby.”

He Xing, “…”
Marshal He sighed, wanting very much to tell Shen Mian that he really wasn’t too far behind in this regard.

……

Qin Yi would go through the procedure of transferring to a different school after the start of the school year and finish her studies at Qiming. When Shen Mian told the other dragon cubs the news, Xing Fei was the happiest- apparently, the little girl also wanted a playmate of the same primary gender.

On the eighth day after Dragon God’s Day, most of the adult dragons had finished their holidays and started their regular work. The little dragon cubs were still six or seven days away from their school starting date.

Because Shen Mian had to interview a few childcare teachers and nutritionists that he had talked to before, he had to go back early and originally planned to let He Xing and the dragon cubs play on the Imperial Star for a while longer and then return a day or two before the school holiday ended.

However, Gian and Xing Fei disagreed. The two of them held Shen Mian’s sleeve on the left and right, looking up pitifully. He Xing had the same look on as the dragon cubs, “You actually want to abandon us” written on their faces.

Shen Mian had to pack up the crown prince and the dragon cubs for a trip back to the centre, which was empty because of the holiday.

As soon as Gian and Xing Fei returned to the centre, they couldn’t wait to get to their dorm.

He Xing, “I’ll go to the dorms to take out the blankets and everything to disinfect them.”

The blankets were sealed in a vacuum bag for the holidays, so it was not as fluffy and comfortable to cover without sterilizing and patting first.

Shen Mian nodded. “I’ll go to the backyard to check the crops.”

Because he was back in the centre and didn’t need to take care of too much, Shen Mian conveniently started a live broadcast and started mixing the live broadcast hours. After he entered Fei Yun City, he didn’t broadcast much and now that the Cat Eye anchor’s vacation has passed, if Shen Mian didn’t broadcast, the platform would send him a reminder.

He hadn’t been broadcasting for about ten days and didn’t have much of an audience when he first started, but a large number of viewers quickly poured in.

[Dean, listen to me ji ji ji: Ahhhhh, my Dean! This new fan is reporting wu wu wu. When I first found the Dean, the Dean was already on vacation.]

[Little Cat: Front row confessions! This is the first time I came so early.]

[Song of Rain: I’ve come, I’ve come. I was just wandering around before taking an afternoon nap. I didn’t expect to see the Dean live broadcast.]

Shen Mian saw afternoon nap and purposely replied back, “So you’re not going to nap?”

[Song of Rain: No! I’m watching the Dean!]

Shen Mian replenished the mana plants with mana, his expression still cold. “You see me, but you still don’t want to sleep.”

t/n: kek, sleep as in that kind of sleep i think ahaha

[Song of Rain: ??? Am I hallucinating? Dean, are you… Ahhhhhhh, did his Highness lead you astray?!]

[Blue Tail: Absolutely… Our dean wasn’t like this before. Your Highness, come out for a beating!]

[Crown Prince’s Dean: This phrasing and wording are very much like His Highness. His Highness took the Dean on a holiday and when he came back, he is like this. Your Highness, come out for a beating!]

[The Seventh Legion Super God and the Dean are Awesome: It’s alright. The Dean’s speech is also very funny.]

[Little Fence: What was it again, interesting and R18 are two different concepts.]

[The Seventh Legion Super God and the Dean are Awesome: Alright, I understand. Your Highness, come out for a beating!]

[Does your throat hurt today?: My pure and innocent Dean wu wu wu wu, you are a little ice flower blooming on Frost White Star, don’t let His Highness pollute you.]

[Xue Lulu: Huh- I don’t want a fierce alpha wu wu wu.]

Shen Mian let them cover the screen anyway. He and He Xing didn’t care about this kind of joke and just let them play by themselves.

The two red pigs in the backyard had already visited the centre’s kitchen table separately, so the circle was empty. Shen Mian also didn’t plan on raising any more. The centre now was not short of the cost of those red pigs. Shen Mian wanted to tear down the circle to free up the place and was wondering what to make there when his quantum computer received a delivery message.

The mock battle arena had been delivered and Shen Mian had to go over to get it.

The arena Shen Mian bought was the new version of the original one. The mock battle arena was stored in the two space buttons provided.

The new model took up a little more space than the original one and it would be inappropriate to put it in front of the two buildings as it would crowd the already small open space and would then block the sunlight from the classrooms.

Shen Mian put the space buttons in his pocket. His space had the potential to disrupt the space buttons, causing it to lose its function, or cause the items to be lost.

When Shen Mian was pondering about where exactly to put the mock battle arena, He Xing came over.

Shen Mian turned to look at him. “Have the blankets and others been tidied up?”

He Xing handed the quantum computer to Shen Mian. “Mhm. The bed has  also been installed. I asked Xing Fei to put it in her room for now. If it doesn’t fit, we can change it again. I think Qin Yi will definitely be willing.”
Xing Fei didn’t sleep and the dragon cub sharing a dorm with her must be one whose sleep quality was comparable to that of Lu Yuan and Rhein, so they can fall asleep when it’s time. Rhein sleeps even better than Lu Yuan, even noises like a thunderbolt can’t wake him up.

Shen Mian, “We’ll see for a few days first.”
A quantum computer had been shoved in front of him and he looked at the light screen. The light screen was densely packed with words. Shen Mian swiped the screen and found that it was a contract, with too many terms.

“Did you buy a starship? Why is this contract so long?”

“It’s not that exaggerated.” He Xing crouched in front of Shen Mian’s quantum computer to look at the barrage and replied with a smile, “I just bought a piece of land and wanted to find our dean to sign the contract. As the area next to it has not been surveyed for development, there are more terms and conditions.”

Shen Mian, “…”

[Xue Lulu: I also don’t know where buying land is any more common than buying a starship.]

[The mouse is not sensitive: His Highnesses not exaggerating seems to be different to us ordinary dragons not exaggerating.]

[Is there a menu: His Highness: Not exaggerating, I just bought a piece of land.]
