LBRDI Chapter 77

Brother, Eat Meat

According to the dragon’s legends, the Dragon God broke out of his shell at dusk, and at this time, the dragons would hold a family gathering to celebrate the birth of the Dragon God in the customs of their own race. After the gathering, the dragons were free to go out and play with each other, sleep, or surf the Starnet.

On the second and third days, the family would choose one day to hold a banquet, and after the fourth day, the small families would visit each other.

This was Shen Mian’s first time celebrating the Dragon God Festival. Although he had reviewed the courses on the cultural customs of the dragon race, customs were something that had always been tied to culture, and it was difficult to grasp them through one or two courses. Although most of the representative dragon customs were mentioned in those courses, He Xing, as a Gengchen, rightfully… didn’t have a single record in the courses.

Shen Mian asked He Xing if there was anything he needed to prepare in advance.

He Xing looked up from a box of clothes. “There isn’t a custom. Let’s go out after dinner.”

This unlucky thing had ordered boxes of clothes. Shen Mian, Xing Fei and Gian all had a pile. The carpet in the living room was covered in clothes.

Shen Mian and He Xing looked at each other for a long time and He Xing told the truth. “Actually, there is, but we usually don’t prepare for it… The housekeepers are on holiday and we are the only ones at home, so we just have more fancy side dishes for dinner. We don’t have any other activities. Didn’t we make a video for the holiday celebration? It will be sent out in the evening, but we can’t control the rest.”

Shen Mian searched the Dragon God Festival of the past few years on his quantum computer. It turned out that the Royal Family really did send out two announcements every year for the holidays, then went silent as if they went into hibernation for a long time, occasionally swindling corpses in response to the policy next door.

Shen Mian believed He Xing’s bullshit and matched clothes for the little dragon cubs.

Xing Fei had more little skirts and outfits than met the eye and the little girl, although not particularly fond of dressing herself, was willing to try on new clothes.

Xing Fei was a little girl, so she carried the clothes back to her room and tried them on one by one.

Gian couldn’t wear so many different types of clothes now, but there were some small accessories he could wear- Shen Mian poured out some small bow ties from a bag and put them on Gian’s tail, letting the tail slightly sway.

It gave off a more serious and cute vibe.

Also, it wasn’t as if the dragon cubs didn’t have any clothes. Shen Mian pulled a small white jacket out of a bag.

This plush little jacket also had a row of vertical triangles sewn into the back and the front buttons were a cute version of the fire-breathing gem dragons.

It was the first time Gian had ever worn one of these and it felt odd on his tail and body.

The clothes were made to fit a gem dragon cub, but they were still very awkward for little Gian- Gian’s front paws were shorter and even the fitted clothes somewhat hindered Gian’s movements.

Also, the large dragon cubs were so sleek that the clothes had a particularly strong presence on them. As soon as Gian moved a little, the plush clothes, which were called light relative to the weight of the cubs, seemed to suddenly weigh hundreds of times more.

Shen Mian buttoned-up Gian’s clothes. “Why don’t you walk around to show us?”

Gian stayed looking at Shen Mian and stretched out his leg shakily… then his leg went limp and he barrelled onto the carpet.

Gian didn’t even react himself, staring at Shen Mian like a piece of jelly that had fallen over.

Shen Mian hurriedly helped him up and the little dragon cub burrowed into his arms, grieving badly. “I feel like I’m being put into a little box.”

The little dragon cub raised his head pitifully. “I felt a strange force forbidding me from moving.”

Shen Mian, not being a dragon himself, didn’t quite understand what it felt like for a dragon cub to wear clothes and gently pat Gian’s back. “Then take it off. There’s no need to wear it.”

He Xing laughed for a while before saying, “Wait for me to take a few pictures first. It’s very uncomfortable to wear clothes in dragon form. It’s too awkward.”

“But my Gian must be the best-looking dragon cub in the Empire in those clothes.”
He Xing took several pictures of Gian’s rounded back and sent them to the emperor, who had no cub to raise.

On the matter of praising the little dragon cub, Shen Mian and He Xing’s brain circuit was similar. When He Xing said that, Shen Mian casually asked, “What is the total sales volume? Does it show any other buyers?”

He Xing thought about it. “Over six hundred. It’s the best selling dragon cub clothes in the big stores.”

Shen Mian remembered the way Gian fell just now when he was walking. “After all, it’s not comfortable to wear.”
Dragons were only required to wear clothes in their human form in any public place. Dragon cubs were not forced into their human form as long as they were under twelve years old- if they suddenly change back, not only will they tear their clothes, it may also bruise the self-esteem of the cubs who want to save face.

In some unspoken rules, the dragons were still very considerate towards little dragon cubs.

“That’s not true.” He Xing put away his quantum computer. “The main reason should be to save money. Several of my married subordinates don’t buy dragon cub clothes because they’re much more expensive than human form clothes. Who let there be more fabric.”

He Xing added, “There’s really no need to buy it. It can save a bunch of star coins. After all, the little dragon cubs are too good at tearing things down.”

Shen Mian, “…”

Considerate, my ass.

……

It was the day of the Dragon God Festival.

His Majesty the Emperor and Her Highness the Princess’s chambers were close to the mythical genus childcare centre. It was the first time Shen Mian had ever seen a Legend genus nursery- although He Xing’s parents had implicitly expressed their acceptance, Shen Mian would still feel a little awkward facing the two elders, so they all tried to walk around the area where the two would appear.

The mythical genus childcare centre was called Ming Rong and the large golden characters could be read even at night. Ming Rong was built in the not-too-bad Fei Yun City, covering an area far larger than Qiming. Shen Mian was unable to see the boundaries of the centre when he got closer and it was completely different from the small centre that could be seen from five or six meters back from the main gate of Qiming.

Although Shen Mian was also planning for the centre during the holidays, he didn’t have a clear idea in his heart of what kind of centre Qiming would be built into and now that he saw Ming Rong, the outline of Qiming’s future was a lot clearer.

Shen Mian asked, “What facilities do you have inside Ming Rong?”

He Xing carefully recalled, “Two mock battle arenas, one simulated ocean, laboratory buildings, school buildings, playgrounds, a greenhouse… that’s about it, I can’t remember. It’s mainly the three large mock arenas that occupy space, but everything else is no different from other centres.”

Dragon childcare centres were very different from human childcare centres. The dragon cubs had to attend six years of school in the centre so, in terms of hardware facilities, the centres were compared to elementary schools and even junior high schools. However, it was rare for a place as wealthy and generous as Ming Rong to directly place inside three large simulation fields.

After all, Fei Yun City was the royal family’s private domain. The royal family could build in half of Fei Yun City if they wished.

Gian and Xing Fei held hands. The two dragon cubs tilted their heads under the towering gate.

Xing Fei, “In the future, I also want to buy such a large piece of land for our centre.”

Gian’s eyes shone brightly. “Dean, I’ll also buy a mock battle arena for Qiming in the future.”

The mock battle arena that had been placed in Qiming’s clearing had been forcefully shoved back into the hands of Yan Zhou by Shen Mian. He saw the new one on the Starnet and it was to be shipped to the centre when delivery resumed.
After the Dragon God Festival, the centre will not be the same.

Shen Mian patted the two little dragon cubs. “I’ll thank Xing Fei and Gian in advance then.”

He Xing smiled a little. “Come on, let’s go to dinner first. After dinner, we’ll go inside and play. There seems to be an observatory inside. Let’s go up and stargaze.”

When they arrived at the bed chambers, the household robots had already served the hot side dishes. Lu Xianzhi and He Yi were talking and when they heard the sound of the door opening, Lu Xianzhi looked up. “We were about to go and call you guys over.”

Gian and Xing Fei politely received the gift when Lu Xianzhi picked up the red envelope on the table and handed it to them respectively. “The Dragon God wishes my little dragon cubs peace and health and a smooth and even path chosen in the future to become what they are happy with.”

The two little dragon cubs had taken the envelope from He Xing and Shen Mian before they left, and knowing that it contained star coins, they both looked hesitantly at Shen Mian.

Shen Mian, “Accept it. Thank you, Your Highness.”

Lu Xianzhi took the little dragon cubs. “It’s too much to call me Your Highness. They’re your little dragon cubs, which means they’re our family. Call me grandma.”

The two little dragon cubs took the envelope and opened their mouths, but couldn’t really call her that facing Her Highness the Princess’s age-favoured face. Xing Fei was silent for a moment and whispered, “Thank you, Auntie.”

He Xing, “That’s not right Xing Fei. You’ve mixed up the generations. My mother’s age is…”

Gian looked serious as he educated He Xing. “The Dean says it’s rude to mention the age of a lady.”

He Xing, “…Alright, I was wrong.”

Xing Fei softly replied, “Because Your Highness is beautiful and beauty has nothing to do with age.”
The little girl stood on her tiptoes and kissed Lu Xianzhi’s cheek. “I super like Your Highness.”

Lu Xianzhi wrapped her arms around the little sweetheart Xing Fei and the somewhat serious big baby Gian and said to Shen Mian, “Come sit down. The side dishes won’t taste good if they get cold.”

The family had dinner. The whole table of side dishes was almost not enough to eat. Shen Mian finished after a while but found that he was the only one full on the whole table, so he had to face the table with chopsticks to recite the recipes for the side dishes.

It’s a good thing the Emperor noticed Shen Mian’s embarrassment. He wasn’t exactly hungry, so he simply put down his chopsticks and started a conversation. “Xianzhi and I have watched quite a few of your live broadcast recordings over the past few days.”

He Xing was very alert and looked up, wondering if his own father was going to cause trouble.

Shen Mian, “…”
Dean Shen put down his chopsticks and began to recall whether he had cursed in the live broadcast.

The answer is definitely not. “What’s wrong with you?” This doesn’t count. That’s just to question the intelligence of some people.

Mn, there isn’t.
Shen Mian, “It’s all about some day-to-day life in the centre and probably not very interesting.”

“No, no, no.” He Yi waved his hand in high spirits. “It’s especially nice. I know all the cubs in the yard. Xianzhi and I have watched a few recordings that really make our day.”

He Xing found that his own father didn’t mean to sell himself and lowered his head again to eat, incidentally eating the fried meat that Shen Mian had just put on the plate, took a bite and found it unpalatable.

With a glance, Shen Mian silently pushed the drink he didn’t really want to drink in front of He Xing while He Yi was looking for a recording on his quantum computer.

A special drink of the dragons. The concentration of gold mint was so high that it was a bit too much for Shen Mian, a person with a high tolerance for gold mint.

He Xing naturally finished the drink.

Gian had just looked up to get vegetables, saw the scene, blinked and whispered to Xing Fei, “Dean likes Uncle He a lot.”

Xing Fei nodded in agreement.

Gian, “Like how he likes us.”

Xing Fei nodded halfway through then stared blankly at Gian. “…Why?”
Brother Gian, this is different!

Gian’s voice was getting quieter, “Because just now, the Dean gave Uncle He a drink. The dean will also give us food and drinks. Uncle He can get smaller and really be like a little dragon cub.”

Xing Fei, “…”
The little girl was a little tired- that wasn’t the Dean taking care of Uncle He, it was Uncle He helping eat what the Dean didn’t want to eat.

When Brother Gian grows up, he will crazily chase after his dragon. Ah, what if Brother Gian chases other dragons in the future? It’s scary just thinking about it.

Xing Fei bitterly gave a piece of meat to Gian. “Brother, eat meat.”
It’s better to eat meat.

Gian nodded briskly, his tail protruding from the hollow of his chair gently swaying.

Sitting next to the dragon cubs, Lu Xianzhi watched them and laughed quietly for a while, holding a cup to cover her mouth.

He Yi on the other end had found the recording he was looking for. “It’s this one. Lu Yuan was selling handmade bags and was very eloquent. I see that the sales seem to be good and a bunch of dragons ordered.”

A not-so-good premonition gradually arose within Shen Mian.

As expected, the emperor was worthy of being He Xing’s father and suggested in high spirits. “In fact, we have an industry under the imperial family that makes dragon cub clothes, but it just hasn’t been able to sell. See if you can get Lu Yuan to sell one. There are commissions. It would be great if we could invite Rhein over as a model. Expenses are counted by piece.”

Shen Mian, “…”
Lu Yuan, your starship is approaching you.
