LBRDI Chapter 79

I’m Pink

He Xing was so busy after his return that he didn’t rest for a moment. He called a construction team to tear down and replace the entire fence and gate of the centre.

Although Shen Mian also wanted to renovate the building, he was not as hasty as He Xing. He hadn’t even chosen the construction team when the construction team invited by He Xing had already started working.

Shen Mian didn’t know where he got his enthusiasm from. “The childcare centres here on Water Star start later than other planets and there are still eight days before they start. Why are you in a rush?”

According to today’s technology, renovating the fence and gate would only take three to four days. Shen Mian still wanted to screen the construction team, but He Xing had already decided.

He Xing, “Because I am now the ‘Bright Prospects’ dean’s family member.”

He Xing leaned in front of Shen Mian and kissed his cheek. “Your lover wants to change the house all over again.”

Shen Mian couldn’t do anything about his various sticky little moves, so he simply let him go.

He Xing was like a hardworking little bee. As Shen Mian prepared for the new semester’s classes, he knew he couldn’t be of much help, so he circled the centre’s hardware facilities.

The land that He Xing bought was right behind the centre, about twice the size of the centre’s current area. It could easily fit two mock battle arenas and still have space for a residential area.

Yes, residential area.
He Xing had his heart set on building his own house and set a spot to build a single-family villa.

For this villa, He Xing hired a designer and a construction team to decide on a location and just started building before the other areas. Since the new semester was starting, extensive construction would affect the dragon cubs- after all, the construction site was dangerous. If the childcare teachers didn’t watch the cubs, something might happen. Therefore, it was impossible to build at the same time, so they had to ask the construction team to build slowly and sequentially.

Shen Mian could live anywhere he wanted, so He Xing was free to do whatever he wanted. Xing Fei and Gian were so happy that they even briefly “abandoned” the busy Shen Mian and followed He Xing to the construction site every day to check on the progress.

Gian rarely showed such obvious affection for anything and his excitement could be felt at night when Shen Mian put him to bed. The two little dragon cubs would pitter-patter around Shen Mian when they saw him and start talking about how the villa was.

Obviously it was still a prototype that had just begun to lay its foundations, but as Shen Mian listened to the little dragon cubs and He Xing say “our home” one by one, he actually grew a little fond of it.

He Xing understood that Gian and Xing Fei were his family’s dragon cubs, so they couldn’t live in the dormitory after the holidays. They needed to have their own rooms so they could invite their friends over to play in the future.

For Gian and Xing Fei, since the villa took shape, they’ve been more than just cubs in a childcare centre- they had a “home” to return to during the holidays when all the kids were gone.

The issue of live broadcasting had also crossed Shen Mian’s mind- there were not many dragon cubs in the centre right now. He could ask every parent’s opinion about live broadcasting and in the future, when there were more dragon cubs, will he also live broadcast the other dragon cubs? There was no point in asking one question at a time. Once the centre was on track, there was less need for income from live broadcasting.

Most of his future live broadcasts would focus on his own dragon cubs. The main focus of his live broadcasts had always been daily life anyway. The theme would probably be a complete return to the channel theme, looking for something from human civilization for the dragon cubs to learn about.

His dragon cubs were also interested in learning more about his culture and race.

……

The day after Shen Mian returned to the centre, the childcare teacher and nutritionist, whose resume he had passed on the Starnet, came over for an interview.

He had since added a few more slots and now required six childcare teachers and two nutritionists, as well as two dragons to be in charge of security.

The two dragons in charge of security were chosen from the dragons who had retired due to injuries. He Xing had already met them and felt that there was no problem. Shen Mian directly approved and these two dragons would also be reporting today.

This semester was not the beginning of the school year, so there shouldn’t be too many students. However, they couldn’t have fewer childcare teachers. Shen Mian only left six spots and when the semester was almost over, he would recruit more childcare teachers again depending on the situation.

There were a total of thirteen childcare teachers who came to the interview this time and three nutritionists. Shen Mian waited at the door, holding a stack of printed out resumes in his hand. He was still more comfortable with a physical resume.

Most of the thirteen nursery teachers who came to the interview were recent graduates and looked around as they rang the doorbell.

These young students had all seen Shen Mian’s live broadcasts and already had an impression of the centre in their hearts, but they didn’t expect to find the interior of the centre to be very different from dozens of days ago, which strengthened their thoughts of staying in the centre.

One of the dragons who came for an interview was a middle-aged dragon with a beautiful resume that had stated he had been a teacher for nearly a decade and was very good at teaching the little dragon cubs on how to practice their human forms, along with a commendation from the education department. How could such a childcare teacher jump to a small nursery like Qiming that didn’t even have that many dragon cubs?

After Shen Mian asked a few questions, he gently put down the resume. “Mr Wen Yan, I’ll take the liberty to ask you a question.”

Wen Yan sat across from Shen Mian. He looked much younger than his actual age, slightly chubby, with a smile on his face. “Dean, please go ahead.”

Shen Mian, “With excellent qualifications like yours, you could have chosen a childcare centre with better conditions.”
The salary he offered was the industry average and slightly better in terms of benefits. With a resume like Wen Yan’s, there were too many childcare centres grabbing for him once he jumped ship, so there was no need to choose a fledgling centre like Qiming.

Wen Yan smiled. “Because I watched the Dean’s live broadcast and liked the Dean’s philosophy. I believe the Dean also cares more about the inner growth of the little dragon cubs than simple achievements.”

Shen Mian put one hand on the resume, then smiled very faintly at Wen Yan. “Alright, thank you.”

At the end of the interview, Shen Mian personall y sent all the dragons that came for the interview to the door. The few young dragons had just gotten into the suspension car and left, but Wen Yan hadn’t even left when a royal blue private suspension car had parked in front of the centre.

Shen Mian took a look at the car. The windows were covered with anti-transparent film, so he couldn’t see who was sitting inside.

When the vehicle came to a stop, the rear doors opened and out jumped a tightly covered dragon cub- really tight, with a hat on their head, dragon cub clothes and even shoes on their feet.

Although they were dressed like a small bun, the way they came down and took two steps made Shen Mian immediately recognize this dragon cub: This was his Lu Yuan.

Then a dragon in human form came out from the driver’s seat. It was indeed An Long.

An Long patted Lu Yuan and brought him over to Shen Mian, smiling a bit embarrassedly. “Dean. Lu Yuan’s mother and I already started working. Lu Yuan, he kind of misses you and the other dragon cubs, so I said I’d bring him back early to see.”

Shen Mian nodded. “If you’re not in a hurry to go back, Lu Yuan can just stay here.”
For Shen Mian, Lu Yuan was almost like a cub he raised, not just his student. Shen Mian naturally leaned down to take Lu Yuan’s little fat paw. Who knew that Lu Yuan would quickly dodge Shen Mian’s hand?

Shen Mian was stunned and asked An Long, “What’s wrong?”

An Long scratched his head. “It’s nothing, it’s just…”

Lu Yuan, who dressed so that not a hair would show, “Dad, don’t say it!”

An Long was embarrassed. “But you can’t cover it like that every day.”

Shen Mian slightly frowned and crouched down. “Lu Yuan, can I see? I’m worried about you.”

Lu Yuan sniffed, his voice muffled. “Then, then you can’t dislike me after you look. You have to continue treating me like your little dragon cub, your cute big baby.”

A little smile appeared in Shen Mian’s eyes. “Yes, you’re my little dragon cub.”

Lu Yuan slowly took off his hat and showed his head, sounding aggravated. “I’m pink.”

The little black and white fatty had become a little black and pink fatty. The white fur on his entire face had become pink.

Shen Mian, “…”
He slowly bit his lip, trying to hold back the upward curve.

Wen Yan, who hadn’t left yet, “This is a good thing. This is the phenomenon of excessive hair turning to human skin. If you keep a good connection for a while, you’ll be able to learn the human form. You’ll be a big dragon cub by then and it’ll be much easier to do everything.”

An Long went on to say, “The colour changed after last night. Also now that the little dragon cubs are well-nourished, they’re developing faster than we did.”

Lu Yuan slowly raised his head and asked Shen Mian for confirmation, “Really?”

Shen Mian knew that he couldn’t laugh at this time or it would definitely hit Lu Yuan. After all, the sudden colour change and getting this colour scheme, the little dragon cub might not be able to accept it internally.

“Yes. Our Lu Yuan is growing up to be an increasingly mature little dragon cub. The other dragon cubs that can’t yet enter their human forms will surely envy you and our Lu Yuan’s bite must be stronger now.”

Shen Mian stood up and took Lu Yuan by the hand to divert Lu Yuan’s attention. “There’s a new mock battle arena installed at home. Do you want to check it out?”

Lu Yuan found a little more confidence in that it wasn’t a surprise that he had turned pink and grabbed Shen Mian’s pants with his little belly upright.

An Long was relieved to find that it was still the dean who was in charge of Lu Yuan. “Then I’ll go back first. I’ll trouble the Dean to take care of Lu Yuan.”

Shen Mian nodded. “Be careful on the way.”

Wen Yan also took his leave.

Shen Mian took Lu Yuan back to the centre. The new mock battle arena was placed in the clearing, which was a flat area that had been temporarily cleared to prevent the mock battle arena from being just right*.

*t/n: I have no idea what this sentence means. That’s what it said in the original text so uh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When Shen Mian brought Lu Yuan over, He Xing was discussing with the designer on plans for the open space. He looked up to see his dean walking by slowly with a black and pink dragon cub. The cub was dressed tightly.

He Xing looked up from the dense lines and data and didn’t see clearly for a moment. “Did our centre get a new dragon cub?”

Shen Mian, “…”
He forgot that he was supposed to send a message to He Xing.

Lu Yuan took a deep breath and let out a long ying. “I’m not Uncle He’s little dragon cub anymore… I’m so ugly that even Uncle He doesn’t recognize me.”

Shen Mian, “…”

He Xing, “…Lu Yuan?!”

Lu Yuan let go of Shen Mian’s clothes, turned around and ran away.
