LBRDI Chapter 11

Worshiping Hill Head

Bonus ko-fi chapter

Lu Yuan’s parents paid the tuition fees for one semester and live in costs for August. The two dragon cubs had happily gone downstairs to read Gian’s storybook.

An Long was relieved, “In fact, there is still a very important point. I dare not speak in front of Lu Yuan, I’m afraid he is guarded… Lu Yuan is an indifferent child, full of curiosity about unfamiliar places. I hope the dean will pay more attention to him. “

He vaguely said it, Shen Mian slightly frowned, “It’s not a bad thing for a cub to be curious.”

Lu Yuan ’s mother wiped her eyes and whispered, “In fact, Lu Yuan ’s personality is very strange. He has never been able to get along with his classmates in the previous centre. He has not taken all the courses and we are very worried that he will not be able to graduate kindergarten.”

In the Dragon Empire, even the most basic cub education has graduation exams. Passing or failing will determine whether you can go on to higher education.

If you fail to pass the final exam, your graduation will be delayed and you will not be allowed to move up until you pass the exam because what the cubs have to learn is too important – Learning how to get along with their instincts, how to get along with different dragons and how to maintain their human forms for a long time.

Shen Mian nodded.

Oh, he is familiar with this characteristic, after all, he was also a scumbag in middle school and Lu Yuan’s character may be a little better than him, at least without the bad temper.

An Long held Shen Mian’s hand, “Dean, after my wife and I watched your live broadcast, I think you are a human who loves cubs very much. Please take pictures of our child!”

Lu Yuan ’s mother went on to say, “Lu Yuan likes humans very much and we thought, maybe human kindergarten teachers can make Lu Yuan interested in learning, but there are too few human kindergarten teachers in the empire, and most of them are on developed planets. We don’t want Lu Yuan to be too far away from us and fortunately, Water Star has a dean like you. We want not much, just as long as Lu Yuan can pass the final exam.”

Shen Mian thought about it and found it a bit difficult – Judging from his own experience, a scum without normal upbringings will not have accidents, it is difficult to become a school bully.

It is also difficult to become a scholar.

An Long also nodded, “The monthly living expenses will be paid to the centre’s account on time. The dean has no need to be polite with Lu Yuan. If you don’t rush him to study, graduation will be left hanging.”

Shen Mian nodded. Although he was not a parent, Shen Mian understood the couple’s worries. Although there are many and complicated things taught in kindergartens, there are six years to learn and the entire empire will maintain a high pass rate of 99% throughout the year.

If a large-sized dragon had an unsociable personality was around other smaller cubs and was treated as an “alien”, it is conceivable that even if they succeed in further studies, they may be excluded by other dragon cubs.

But that doesn’t mean the blaming then and using force is right.

Shen Mian thought for a while, “I will try my best.”

An Long nodded, again and again, then he and his wife said goodbye.

Shen Mian went out to call the two cubs to send the An Long couple to the centre’s front door together.

The chubby Lu Yuan looked at the front door for a while, probably because he had previously studied at a centre before. He was left alone and didn’t cry as he watched his parents leave until he couldn’t see their backs. He then turned around holding a handful of colourful candies and raised his paws towards Shen Mian and He Xing, “Do the two elder brothers want some candy? I’ll trouble you to take care of me in the future.”

He Xing looked at the dragon cub up and down and commented, “This kid is pretty good.”

Lu Yuan was modest, “Still far from elder brother.”

He Xing, “… I’m already an adult, I don’t eat candy.”

It is also a headache to raise such a child at home.

Lu Yuan withdrew with regret and felt around his pocket for a while only to find out that he only had candy. So he gave up the plan to attack the two adults and turned around to find Gian to talk to.

Shen Mian always felt that Lu Yuan’s strategy seemed familiar. After thinking about it, he realised that isn’t this like the act of offering a cigarette?

Lu Yuan walked over to Gian and held his hands. The little gem dragon had not had friends around his age for a while. The “little brother” he picked up couldn’t be seen every day, so when faced with a buddy of his own age, Gian couldn’t help casting a look of expectation towards Shen Mian.

Shen Mian, “… Go play for a while.”

Gian cheered, “I will take you to look at the pig!”

Shen Mian looked at the two backs walking away and slowly exhaled.

“Do you regret it?” He Xing asked with a smile.

Shen Mian didn’t deny, “A little.”

Although Qiming is a welfare home transformed into a childcare centre, as part of the basic education system, children who refuse to come to school for no reason create a bad reputation for the childcare centre.

Since he serves as the dean of this centre, he will find ways to develop this centre, so naturally, he has to take into account the future of the centre.

So even though Shen Mian felt that the current Qiming was not suitable for accepting new students, the dragon cub’s parents still insisted even after the current situation of the childcare centre was explained, Shen Mian could only agree to Lu Yuan enrolling.

Aside from not knowing where he learnt these “Jiang Hu1 traditions”, his temper was unexpectedly good. When Shen Mian asked the two dragon cubs if they were willing to live in the same dormitory, Lu Yuan didn’t hesitate to answer at all, “I don’t mind dean!”

He has the slickness and sophistication that are rare among cubs of his age. After spending less than half an hour with Gian, he quickly changed the way he called others- Shen Mian was called dean, He Xing was called uncle, no longer using little brother and elder brother.

When Shen Mian and He Xing were assembling the special bed for Lu Yuan, Gian and Lu Yuan were sitting on the carpet talking, during which Lu Yuan’s gaze had been on Shen Mian the entire time.

The carpet is actually a large thick cloth, which was washed and spread under the window. When the weather was good, the sunlight would cover the carpet.

Both the spotted dragon and the gem dragon are large dragons with no flying ability. Both the bed frame and the bed board must be special, otherwise, the bed will easily collapse.

Shen Mian propped up the bed board with one hand, the metal bed board pressing heavily against his hand. Not to mention human beings, even some dragons struggle to move it. He Xing installed the parts of the bed frame underneath and supported the bed board with his other hand, “Put it on.”

The two set up the bed board, He Xing subconsciously looked at Shen Mian’s hand. The heavy parts and bed board indeed pressed into his thin callused palm and create marks.

He Xing intuitively felt that Shen Mian would not like this kind of overly meticulous care, so he wisely shut his mouth and said nothing.

Lu Yuan looked at Shen Mian in front of him and finally couldn’t help but ask, “Are you really human?”

Shen Mian nodded.

Lu Yuan reached out his hand and gently laid it on the back of Shen Mian’s hand.

The middle of the spotted dragon’s paw is the paw pad and because the staple food for them is a variety of fruits and leaves, they have sharp retractable claws to peel off the outer casing of fruits.

Lu Yuan’s claws were completely retracted, only the slightly cold paw pad laid on the skin, his strength was kept at a minimum. The An Long couple said that Lu Yuan hadn’t completed all the courses, but Shen Mian felt that Lu Yuan’s “Contact between Small and Medium-sized Dragons” course should not have too many problems.

Shen Mian let Lu Yuan touch him back and forth several times.

He really is human. The skin is warm and soft, completely different from dragons.

Lu Yuan carefully held Shen Mian’s handm “I’ve seen humans before and I really like humans.”

Shen Mian rubbed Lu Yuan’s head. The spotted dragon’s main defence was thick fat and hard bones under their skin, so the cub’s fur was soft and supple.

Although the An Long couple description of Lu Yuan was that he was a headache-causing “problem child”, it seems that he hasn’t reached the extent of being irresponsible.

Shen Mian roasted four whole feathered wurms that night for the three dragons, one big, two small and according to the recipe, prepared a large mixed vegetable and fruit meal for Lu Yuan.

Gian and Lu Yuan sat together to wash the vegetables and fruits. The honey barbecue aroma permeated every corner of the kitchen, even Lu Yuan, the main vegetarian, couldn’t help but swallow.

However, a total of ten catties of roasted feathered wurms and vegetables were still not enough for them. The three large dragons have an amazing appetite. Shen Mian finally realised why nutrient solutions were so popular even though there is a restaurant in the Dragon Empire.

If they relied on ingesting normal food while in human form, he was afraid that one meal would take two to three hours.

Shen Mian decided to follow the daily recipes in normal childcare centres, with first-class nutrients as the main supplement, along with moderate amounts of ordinary food, so the cubs will have enough to eat and not go hungry.

After eating, Gian offered to take Lu Yuan to take a bath and He Xing was left to clean the kitchen.

Only after hearing the footsteps of the two dragon cubs gradually going away, He Xing said:,“Fortunately, there is nothing out of the ordinary about him except that his personality is too smooth and not like a cub. Did his parents say he has poor grades? The kindergarten curriculum is not difficult so it should be easy to make up for.”

Shen Mian looked at him and suddenly asked, “When you were in school, were you the kind of good student that teachers particularly liked?”

He Xing’s shoulders shook from laughing, “How is that possible.”

He pointed to himself, “Do I look like one?”

Shen Mian though for a few seconds, “Your merits and achievements make you seem like one but you don’t look like one.”

The seventh legions marshal has many merits and achievements but has never appeared before the public. It has been rumoured among the outside wide that He Xing’s personality is silent and indifferent, dominating figures, big or small, all year round.

He Xing smiled, you could tell he was impressive and compelling from eyes. At the moment, he was wearing home clothes, the light colours seemed to soften the officer, the whole person looked unusually amiable.

“I wasn’t.”

The two of them were the only ones in the kitchen, a small lamp was turned on next to the sink.

He Xing rinsed the bowl in his hand and he lazily said, “Jumping over the wall to skip school, sleeping in class, gathering others to fight, not going home at night… I was way worse compared to a seven or eight-year-old child. So I can’t figure out how bad such a small child can be.”

Shen Mian rinsed the last bowl, “There are many reasons for getting a poor grade. A student who the teacher says causes a headache is often not the problem, regardless if they are earnest or not.”

He Xing blinked, “Huh?”

Shen Mian: “Think about it yourself. If you couldn’t properly study such an easy course, is it because you didn’t work hard or is it because you were thinking about other things?”

He Xing understood after a second, “It’s not because you don’t work hard, but it’s because you don’t care at all.”

The author has something to say:

Dean Shen: Me, the former school bully.

  1. 江湖风气 (jiāng hú fēng qì)
I had no idea what this meant and when I asked my parents, they said that 风气 (fēng qì) meant traditions but 江湖 (jiāng hú) has no direct english translations.
江湖 (jiāng hú) literally means river and lakes but has something to do with wuxia novels. Many different sites in both chinese and english have different meanings for the word so I can’t exactly link them all.

Gotta love toe beans. Since Lu Yuan has retractable claws, I assume his paws are similar to felines.

It’s getting late for me now so I’ll just post the second bonus chapter tomorrow :,,).

  2. I think Yuan Yuan is that kid; super smart without needed many effort so he either never care much about education because the teachers are irresponsible, or he unfortunately got a biased teacher before where they labelled him as problematic and unconsciously makes him feel excluded. So then YuanYuan continued with his “don’t care” attitude even towards important exams. I hope YuanYuan going to integrate well though. He and Gian got along so well so far.
