LBRDI Chapter 58

Geng Chen

Bonus ko-fi chapter

[Hong Ling: Hahahahahaha I’m going to die laughing! When I see the centre, I think of the ying ying ying and when I hear the ying ying ying, I think of His Highness.]

[Death Rays: Little Gian: What are you doing? Don’t come any closer!

[Writing a thesis!: Yan Tan and Xing Fei’s expressions behind them were too cute. I remembered Mr He’s appearance at the award ceremony. Many dragons were shocked to the point of cracking.]

[Sweet Tooth: The dean’s expression hahahahaha I can’t anymore, I feel like the dean is speechless.]

The little gem dragon cub was shocked on the spot for the first time from the coquettish act. Gian stammered and spoke, “Y-you, don’t be like that, I’m not the dean, I don’t listen to ying ying ying.”

The fish soup in Shen Mian’s hand tilted slightly, but he moved quickly and stabilised his hand in time.
When did Gian, who used to be a sweet little padded jacket1, become a black cotton one?

Dean Shen corrected him, “Dean also doesn’t listen to ying ying ying.”

[A glass of wine: Dean: Trying to clarify.]

[Xue Lulu: Yes yes yes, you have to listen to ji ji ji. Where’s Mr He? Come give the dean a ji!]

t/n: ji basically means chirping, just think of that video of the baby hummingbird lol.

[New Moon: The new fans are confused, what are you all talking about?]

Shen Mian put down the fish soup and said in an even tone, “Lu Yuan.”

The little fatty snuggled up to Gian, acting very weak, though his elastic belly betrayed that weakness.

Shen Mian coldly said, “Your starship is getting further and further from you.”

Lu Yuan stiffened for a few seconds and then got up with a grunt, “Learn! I can still learn!”

At six o’clock, Rhein flew in shakily and when he went through the door, he saw a table covered with textbooks.

“Do we have to review now?”

He sat next to Xing Fei and the little girl nodded gently and made space for the elven dragon.

“Want to read for a while?”

The dean’s breakfast won’t be ready until 6:30, so let’s take advantage of this time to review more.

Rhein patted his little pouch and readily pulled out a book.

That little appearance wasn’t awkward at all. Lu Yuan looked envious- he felt like he was balding all over his body just sitting here.

After reading a few more pages, Lu Yuan couldn’t stand it anymore.

He sneaked a glance around. Gian and Xing Fei could read all the books and Yan Tan was a great little dragon cub, holding his pencil and writing and drawing. He was the only one who couldn’t finish reading anything. Even Rhein, who had similar grades to him…the black and white little fatty’s gaze moved to Rhein.

The little elven dragon was lying on his book, sleeping soundly.

Lu Yuan was suddenly comforted.

Shen Mian, who had finally finished making breakfast, looked back and was fruitfully rewarded with two completely inattentive dragon cubs.

Shen Mian walked over to Rhein, leaned over and whispered in his ear, “Breakfast is ready.”

The golden little dragon cub suddenly sat upright.

“Breakfast!”

Other dragon cubs, “…”

……

On November 6, three days before Nova Magazine announced the selected articles and poems, the scores for both of Shen Mian’s assessments were out. The moral one showed that it was in the process of being assessed and the last one would not end until the end of the semester. Adhering to the guideline of “if you fail the test, you’ll have a bad year”, the scores would be released before the new year.

Shen Mian checked his score and it was about the same as he expected. The parent rating one was quite a bit higher than he had expected and as long as the ethics one didn’t fall apart, he could go for the title of an excellent childcare teacher.

As soon as he checked his scores, a few little dragon cubs pounced and squeezed in.

“Dean! Uncle’s back!”

Shen Mian was startled. Xing Fei walked over to Shen Mian and held his hand.

“Dean, let’s go together to pick up…”

“No need, “ He Xing strode over, smoothly picked up Xing Fei and hugged her, “I’m back.”

Shen Mian turned off his quantum computer.

“This early?”

It was already the end of October when He Xing left and he rushed back after ten days on the Imperial Star?

He Xing put down Xing Fei and let Gian and Lu Yuan come over and hug his arms, one on the left and right.

“Yeah… I’ve finished my business, so I wanted to come back sooner.”

Shen Mian didn’t utter a word.

He Xing coughed, “Oh right, Yan Tan.”

The black dragon cub immediately realised that Uncle He might know something and turned around with a serious face.

“I haven’t finished reading my book.”

He Xing took two steps forward to catch Yan Tan, who was about to run.

“Where are you going?”

Shen Mian slapped away his hand that was holding Yan Tan and hugged Yan Tan.

“There’s a new dragon cub coming to school here in the yard.”

Xing Fei raised both her hands high and the little dragon cub, who was twenty centimetres tall, slightly bowed towards He Xing.

“H-hello. My name is Rhein, I’m an elven dragon.”

He Xing half crouched down and held out a hand for Rhein to stand on.

“Hello, my name is He Xing and I’m in charge of security at this centre.”

Rhein grabbed the hem of his clothes.

“I… I heard from Gian that Uncle’s family also has a very small dragon cub, did you bring him back this time? Can, can I get to know him?”

Rhein hadn’t met the tiny dragon cub at this new centre yet and he was eager to ask how the other one usually got along with the other dragon cubs and if they were as scared as he was at first.

He Xing, “…”
Marshal He looked at Dean Shen.

Dean Shen refused to meet his eyes and turned his head with one fist against the lower half of his face.

Gian, Lu Yuan and Xing Fei nodded together.

Gian, “Yeah uncle, we didn’t even take good care of him when he was in the centre.”

He Xing took a deep breath, wavering for a moment between acting quickly and telling the truth. He finally held his forehead and said, “Actually… in Uncle’s race, we can change the size of our dragon form.”

Lu Yuan, “So cool!”

Gian and Xing Fei, however, sensed something.

He Xing, “There are two sizes in my race. One is the normal size and the other is the small body size.”

Lu Yuan scratched his head and turned around.

“Why do I feel like I’ve never learnt about this kind of dragon before?”

Rhein, Gian and Xing Fei shook their heads together.

The only one who learnt about it, Yan Tan, turned around silently, leaving the few dragon cubs with darkened backs.

Xing Fei had already guessed what dragon genus Uncle He was. This was her first encounter with this race and her eyes brightened.

“Then how come you can become smaller? Does it do anything like my horns, brother Gian’s tail, brother Lu Yuan’s pocket or Rhein’s phosphorus powder?”

He Xing said helplessly, “Because adult dragons are very large, but their eggs are very small and they often have situations where they can’t find their eggs or cubs… When we incubate, we will deliberately become smaller.”

The Geng Chen species is the largest of all dragons. Even in the oldest periods, couples incubated dragon eggs together, but because of their size, it was common for them to fall asleep while incubating and not be able to find their eggs in the morning.

Shen Mian turned around and spoke to the few dragon cubs, who couldn’t imagine it.

“It’s like if you fall asleep counting star coins at night and can’t find them in the morning.”

Or like you, who plays on the quantum computer and wakes up in the morning looking for it.

t/n: lmao if you can’t guess, he’s referring to HX in that sentence ahaha

He Xing, “Too graphic for the dean.”

The author has something to say:

Dean Shen: A cool guy who is always ready to spite.
