LBRDI Chapter 52

Kinda angey atm. Although this is a fan translation, I do not consent to my hard work being reposted onto other sites. I have spent quite a lot of time on this series and for it to just be reposted onto another site is just heartbreaking. I do not mind if you redirect the link to our site so they can read it here, but just taking it without even asking me before hand is very inconsiderate, especially since there are people giving actual money to me for extra chapters. If you would like to use my english translation into your own language, I do not mind but I suggest you use the chinese raws to get a more accurate translation.

TLDR: Don’t repost my translations onto other sites, if you are redirecting to our site, I don’t mind, but DON’T REPOST.

sorry for ranting

side note: since everyone is still debating about the light brain/optical computer thing, I’m going to use a word i saw someone else used, quantum computer. I hope everyone can get used to that as I will be replacing every light brain/optical computer with quantum computer.

Bonus ko-fi chapter

He Xing’s quantum computer had three communication cards, two of which belonged to the Imperial Star. One of them was for official business and the other was only know to friends in private.
The last communication card belonged to Water Star and was used as an emergency contact for the centre.

This communication dialled in from Water Star… did something happen to the centre?
He Xing had a slightly tense expression and connected the call, the voice of an adult dragon coming through the quantum computer earpiece.

“Is this the emergency contact for Qiming Childcare Centre?”

He Xing: “Yes, may I ask who you are?”

“I am the parent of a child in your centre and would like to come into your centre to visit the cub. I have all the documents to prove it, but your childcare teacher was very unreasonable and not only refused my legitimate request, but also humiliated me. I would like to have a word with my cub now, can you please open the gate and let me in? I can donate a building to your centre and will be sure to give you a big thank you as well.”

Who are you giving a big thank you to?

He Xing: ???
Although the Crown Prince was full of question marks, he was also relieved- with Shen Mian at the centre, what could go wrong?

He knew there was a new cub in the centre and Shen Mian had sent him a photo of the little dragon cubs a few days ago. The newcomer was an elven dragon cub named Rhein and the caller was supposedly Rhein’s parent.

“I would also like to report to your centre’s dean that the childcare teacher has a very bad attitude and is very rude…”

It’s good that it wasn’t the centre that was in trouble.
He Xing lifted one leg on the coffee table and lazily said, “Is the one you’re talking about a tall, good looking, has a beautiful voice and is very gentle to the cubs, the male childcare teacher?”

Yan Huan, who was sitting next to He Xing, “…”
Listening to this long list of adjectives, Yan Huan knew in his mind who he was talking about.
Heh, the voice is indeed very nice, it’s much better when he’s cursing.

When Dean Shen first met him, the sound of “What’s wrong with him?” was still fresh in Admiral Yan’s mind.

Vitus, who was on Water Star, felt something a little off, “Yes, that’s him.”
However, to be able to respond so well to which childcare teacher he was talking about, it must’ve been that the childcare teacher usually had a bad temper, so other parents only needed to mention which childcare teacher is rude and the emergency contact would automatically know who it is.

He Xing smiled slightly, “I’m sorry, he’s the dean of our centre.”

The breathing in the quantum computer earpiece intensified sharply.

“Our dean adheres to all the rules and regulations of the nursery and is not only a trusted dean but also a teacher who is respected and loved by the cubs. If he won’t allow you to visit the cub, it must be because there is something wrong with you, for example, are you the legal guardian of the cub?

The call was disconnected by the other party.

He Xing dropped his leg and stood up from the couch.
The room was chaotically filled with young lords and as soon as he got up, he immediately attracted the attention of most of the dragons. He Xing nodded slightly at the few dragons that looked straight over.

He Xing was not in his own residence but was dragged here by Zhao Xingchen to attend the other party’s family dinner.

Zhao Xingchen quickly stopped him, “Where are you going?”

He Xing had opened the door directly and went out, raising the quantum computer in his hand, “Making a small report.”
To tell his family’s dean that there was a dragon trying to bribe him.

Zhao Xingchen, who was actually forced to go on a blind date in the name of attending a party: ???
Where? The crown prince is making a small report? To his Majesty the Emperor? Who has committed a crime again?

……

After receiving He Xing’s call, Shen Mian only then realised that Vitus was trying to bribe He Xing.
He pulled up the front door surveillance. Vitus was no longer at the door and even the grey suspension car was no longer visible.

He had just sent a message to Lansin. As he was only Rhein’s dean and Vitus was Rhein’s other father, it was within his duty to deny Vitus a visit, but it was not for him to decide whether or not to tell Rhein that Vitus had been here.

He had said it all in the message, but Lansin still panicked and said he’d be coming to the centre right away.

Lansin’s workplace was very close to the centre and ten minutes after the call ended, Lansin hastily jumped out of a dark blue suspension car.

Shen Mian was already waiting in front of the centre and Lansin ran over, “Rhein…”

Shen Mian invited him in, “Vitus is gone. Rhein doesn’t know Vitus was here yet. He has been playing with Gian and the others in the backyard.”

Lansin knew but was still relieved to see Rhein with his own eyes. He turned to Shen Mian and bowed deeply, “Thank you.”

Shen Mian avoided his bow and invited him to sit down in the former dean’s office, “Rhein’s legal guardian column only had your name in it, so I just didn’t let Vitus see Rhein.”

Shen Mian took a bit of dried gold mint leaves and brewed it into a drink and put it in front of Lansin, “Have a bit of the hot drink.”

Lansin held the teacup in both hands. The set a little bulky for the small elven dragon but acceptable.
“Vitus, he is my ex-husband… he is a very harsh dragon with severe verbal violence and is very arrogant, often belittling me and Rhein. Although I’ve been trying to not let Rhein hear those words, but…”

Lansin lowered his head, he now already knew that the dean was a human, “Sorry…actually, no matter what race, even if they have the prettiest face, they can look like anything on the inside. We’re just ordinary intelligent creatures after all.”

Not to mention humans, many dragons, who hadn’t have much interaction with elven dragons, believed from the bottom of their hearts that elven dragons had hearts that were as beautiful as they looked. The sought-after elven dragon celebrities on the StarNet also tend to like to label themselves as inherently good.

Shen Mian doesn’t have a filter or tinted glasses for any race and during the apocalypse, it would simply be a death wish to examine a person through their race.

Lansin rubbed the glass unconsciously, “By the time I realized he didn’t have no effect on Rhein, Rhein was already like this. He used to be a very lively cub, happily talking to other dragon cubs, but slowly, Rhein became less and less interested in drawing the attention of the other dragons, probably because Vitus was bound to be sarcastic once he noticed him. I finally realized that my so-called enduring for Rhein was just deepening the harm Vitus did to him.”

“Although Vitus was verbally abusive, he didn’t have an affair nor was he physically abusive. If I wanted to fight for Rhein’s custody, I had to show proof of a steady income, so I closed my old shop and took a new job as a pastry chef. There was also the fact that Rhein was over six years old and his tendencies mattered and because he insisted on staying with me, I got the custody.”

“I transferred Rhein to another centre, then my current employer wanted to come to Water Star to develop and I couldn’t afford to lose my well-paying job, so I had to come along. Because Rhine cried several times after I left him, I made up my mind to transfer him here.”

“I had previously recorded him verbally abusing Rhein and offered it to the court as evidence. The judge revoked his five-year visitation rights and I was within my rights to deny him access to his child until Rhein was a little more mature.”

Lansin stood up and bowed to Shen Mian, “Please, you must, must not let Vitus see Rhein. All his love for Rhein is just a disguise in front of people, his actual actions are to hurt Rhein.”

Shen Mian stood up, “This is within the scope of my duties. If anyone could just come and see the cubs in the centre, there won’t be a need for me to continue this childcare centre.”

Lansin was relieved, “Thank you.”

Shen Mian: “It’s not for me to decide whether or not to tell Rhein that Vitus came to see him.”

Lansin’s face showed hesitation.
He lowered his head and thought for a long moment, but finally smiled sadly, “He’s already seven, a child who has basic judgment in front of the judge. If I hide it from him for his own good, then that is no different to Vitus.”

Shen Mian remembered the golden salted fish’s crybaby attribute that hadn’t been displayed in front of him so far, “Will it scare him?”

Lansin couldn’t help but laugh, “No, he’s actually a very brave boy.”

Little Rhein, who would cry facing of Lansin, was essentially a brave little dragon cub who would dare to jump out and block his father even in the face of a boiling dragon. And even if there was fear in the face of a large dragon, he didn’t panic to the point of crying or shouting.
Shen Mian nodded, “Then you should take him back early today and spend some time with him after making it clear.”

Lansin shook his head, “I want to finish speaking about it here. He’ll play with his friends for a little while longer and he should soon forget about it. If I keep him company instead, it makes him sad. It’s rare to see him make friends, I’m really glad.”

Shen Mian got up, “Then I’ll go get him to come here.”

Lansin: “I’ll be troubling you.”

Shen Mian shook his head.

Rhein, who in the backyard, did get along well with the other dragon cubs and while he said he wouldn’t play with anything, he would sit around with Xing Fei and watch Gian, Yan Tan and Lu Yuan make a mess.

When Shen Mian walked down, the little dragon cubs who knew the situation inside, tacitly stopped playing and looked at him.

Every one of them looked like the grinch.
Shen Mian laughed silently, as long as he faced this group of little dragon cubs, he felt an inexhaustible amount of tenderness.

It just seems like there’s something missing…

Shen Mian leaned over and levelled his sight with Rhein, “Dean has something he wants to talk to you about, can I have a few minutes of your time?”

Rhein still had a bright smile in his eyes and nodded vigorously, “En!”
He flew up and hesitated, carefully sitting on Shen Mian’s shoulder, secretly checking the side of Shen Mian’s face. Once he found that Shen Mian did not have any intention of getting angry, he couldn’t help but lower his head and smile at the other dragon cubs.

Lu Yuan watched the dean take his little friend away and turned his head to ask Gian, “Can I ask the dean for a hug like that tonight?”

Gian felt a little awkward.

Yan Tan cruelly broke Lu Yuan’s fantasy, “You’ve gained weight again this week!”

Lu Yuan adamantly denied, “That’s because I’ve grown taller.”

Xing Fei stood up and patted her little skirt, uninterested in the boys’ silly arguments.

In the dean’s office.
Rhein, not expecting his dad to be here, jumped out happily, “Dad! What are you doing here? Don’t you have work today?”

Lansin stroked Rhine’s soft blonde hair, hesitating for a moment before smiling and said, “Dad has something to say today.”

Rhein blinked and sat upright, “En, Rhein is listening.”

Lansin took several deep breaths and managed a smile, “Your father, Vitus, wanted to see you today.”
He complied with the court’s rule against visits from Vitus, but it wasn’t a good idea to not mention Vetus for the next few years of Rhein’s life. After all, Rhein would still have to face Vitus in five years and letting Rhein grow up into becoming a judgmental dragon cub during that time would be the best option.

Without denying the financial care that Vitus gave to Rhein, one cannot ignore the harm he caused Rhein.
He didn’t require Rhein to grow up to be an excellent dragon cub nor does he need him to be very well-behaved, but he must be a sensible and good child.

Rhein stared at Lansin for a moment, dumbfounded.

Lansin: “I’m sorry. You were obviously so happy today, but I still say that.  Mentioning him brings bad memories to mind.”

Rhein tilted her head and fluttered her wings, “Actually… in the beginning, I didn’t want to be noticed by the other dragons because I was afraid they’d criticize me, but then…”

The little dragon cub’s eyes shone brightly, “I found that it’s actually quite nice! It’s too tiring to go out and play hide-and-seek with my friends! It’s nice to lay down and sit down!”

Shen Mian: …”

Lansin appeared with his old father filter, “Mhm yes, super tiring. It’s good that our Rhein can find a lifestyle that suits himself.”

Rhein turned to Shen Mian, “Besides, true friends wouldn’t force me to play with them.”

  3. Sorry about the pirates.
On the one hand, it means enough people are reading your excellent translation for it to be noticed by pirates.
On the other hand, people are taking credit for yours and probably many others hard work. Novel updates makes it extremely easy to read translations on the translators original websites. Why are people reading them on pirate sites? Stupid pirates.
    They won’t stop though.
If you feel the need to put password protection or some sort of other security measure, like text in picture, I support you.

  4. Thanks for the chapter! You have my support too, though I have to say that no easy protection measure has been foolproof so far from what I’ve seen from other Translators. The only measure that seems problematic for readers so far is putting part of the text in a picture, because some readers who are not fluent in English google translate the text, & images can’t be translated. I saw a Spanish speaking reader explain it once.

  5. “I finally realized that my so-called enduring for Rhein was just deepening the harm Vitus did to him.”
i wish for more ppl in abusive relationships to realise this. its so important and shows why enduring is (almost) never the right thing for the child/children, so telling themselves that they are enduring to for the child, that they want the child to have a whole family is bullshit, pardon my french.
sorry for ranting. i feel very strongly about this and that sentence just brings it to the point beautifully.
thank you for translationg this great story! ❤
