LBRDI Chapter 5

Pheromones

Bonus ko-fi chapter

The part of the dragon’s grass used as an ingredient is the leaves, which are thick and are translucent emerald green like succulents.

This was a high-quality dragon’s grass, full of wood mana.

Live room:

[Seventh Legion Super God: Aaaaah, I’m going to drool! It must be crisp and sweet!]

[Big Moon Moon: Is the anchor selling? I’ll have all these packaged following the market price. I’ll pay the transport fee for the fastest interstellar delivery service.]

[Ready to go to Heaven: It looks very plump, fine goods aaaah. You could probably eat it directly. But it’s so expensive, I reckon that ones at this grade are sold per leaf.]

[Death Rays: Human’s seeking science, what are these things? Is it expensive?]

[Big Moon Moon: Dragon’s grass, a perennial plant that grows by absorbing mana. The mana will be stored in the leaves, the higher quality the mana content is, the more transparent the leaves will be. Most dragons like it. Although we can’t absorb the mana, we feel very comfortable after eating it.]

[Ready to go to Heaven: Does the anchor have an online store? I also want to order a few pieces to eat. A fire breathing dragon going through puberty will feel like they have a sore throat every day and coughing will create sparks.]

[Anchor Bang Bang Bang: Hahahaha, both pitiful and cute.]

The wood ability is a very mild and neutral ability. For dragons who can convert absorbed elements into fuel, or purely vegetarian dragons, both cannot absorb it so the grass can effectively relieve symptoms such as sore throats.

Shen Mian recalled that the original owner really did have an online store. Sometimes he would put up a little something from the wastelands as a “special product” from the dragons. The online store has had no one purchase from it for so long that the original owner himself forgot about it. Shen Mian discovered it while looking everywhere for the original owner’s savings.

Shen Mian replied, “I will put the address of the online store on the profile of this account. If you want, you can go on the link to find the dragon’s grass and price.”

He leaned over to pick up the quantum computer, his profound facial features suddenly drew closer. His eyebrow peaks were stern, his eyelashes were dark brown above his almost black pupils, however his eyebrows in comparison were especially deep.

Looking up at the eyes, the dark colour seemed to overwhelm the people in it, a cosmic galaxy that exhausted civilisations cannot penetrate.

The barrage disappeared like broken pieces in the live room. Only one barrage fluttered past trembling.

[Whirling Planet: I’m sorry to my family’s alpha… I died under this look.]

Shen Mian only came close to find the button to turn off the live broadcast. After finding it, he ruthlessly said, “I’m going to go. After the broadcast ends, you all should go home and eat.”

Regardless of the barrage persuading him to stay, he ended the live broadcast and logged onto the online store platform. He first searched the average price of dragon grass and according to the quality, he set it to three star coins per piece, the inventory was only set at 500 pieces.

There are only twenty seeds in a pack of dragon grass and each seed has successfully germinated. New leaves will continue to grow throughout the summer, which will provide enough leaves.

Shen Mian put the dragon grass in the online store and checked the rewards in the background. He broadcasted for nearly two hours and after the rewards were divided, he had around 600 star coins. Shen Mian transferred the money to his account and added to the original 1000 star coins left behind, he had 1600 star coins in his deposit.

Although the urgent need had been solved, it was not enough for the long term.

Gian pulled on Shen Mian, “Dean?”

Shen Mian lowered his head, the malnourished small gem dragon’s scales and crystal spines were not as bright as other gem dragons since gem dragons needed to consume precious ore minerals, but little Gian could not afford it.

He took Gian’s hand, “Come on, let’s go eat”

….

Lunch was nutrient solutions paired with dragon’s grass leaves.

Gian held the leaves in both hands and stuttered, “Will this be too extravagant?”

Three star coins per dragon grass leaf! You can buy the cheapest nutrient solution for three star coins!

Shen Mian frowned and drank a nutrient solution, “Extravagant?”

In the “Early Education of Gem Dragons” he recently read, gem dragons can convert ingested ore minerals into fuel as they belong to the dragon family that can breathe fire.

The nutrient solutions that cost ten star coins are cheap and include basic nutrients, so the taste and flavour aren’t good. They’re slimy and have an unexplainable sweet flavour.

“Should we eat something else tonight? Do you want fish?

Shen Mian opened the second nutrient solution and handed it to Gian.

One piece of dragon grass is three star coins in Gian’s eyes. He swallowed, “No, don’t want anymore, give it to younger brother. I also don’t eat fish, the nutrient solutions are okay.”

Shen Mian almost told Gian that he was a fake younger brother and when it nearly came out, he quickly replaced it, “He drinks milk and does not eat these.”

Gian believed Shen Mian’s lie. After eating the second nutrient solution, Shen Mian coaxed him to take a nap.

Shen Mian took a bag of nutrients and went to find He Xing. That unlucky thing refused to get up in the morning, randomly probing everything in the house. Shen Mian had to leave him be.

Shen Mian returned to his room, scanned around, his eyes falling on the folded quilt. He reached inside and sure enough, pulled out a dragon.

He Xing was shaken awake by his tail, which was squeezed, and lazily climbed around his wrist. Since the other side had not responded to the nutrient solutions before, maybe because his IQ was too low to know how to eat, so Shen Mian gathered some mana.

He Xing seemed particularly sensitive to his mana, the silver nebula mist-like mana was absorbed in the blink of an eye. Shen Mian’s eyelids suddenly jumped, and before someone came over, he suddenly grabbed the quilt in front of him and threw it over.

He Xing who had just completed being in human form, “…”

He dragged the quilt to cover his lower body and in a complaining tone, “It’s me who has been completely seen, why do you look lost?”

Shen Mian stood up holding the nutrient solutions, “You have already severely damaged my optic nerves, a second look will cause brief blindness.”

He Xing pretended he didn’t hear that, smiled and reached out, “Is this nutrient solution for me?”

Ordinary nutrient solutions have bad taste and have only the most basic nutrients to ensure that they won’t starve to death. He Xing finished it in one go, “Thank you.”

Shen Mian threw a small pack of nutrient solution on the table, “Hurry up and leave. As you can see, I don’t have anything here that can help you.”

He Xing piled up the packets of nutrient solutions and said with a smile, “I definitely won’t be able to keep it up for ten minutes if I leave you.”

Shen Mian extended a finger, “Come.”

He Xing stunned, “What?”

“Charging,” Shen Mian said, “Leave when fully charged.”

He Xing, “… That won’t do. My dragon’s battery is particularly poor, I have to bring an energy source with me if I want to leave.”

Shen Mian, ”One, my friendship with you is limited to the exchange of abilities. You saved me once in the wastelands, but I also used abilities to awaken your reason and I promised to recharge you. Two, you are a dragon with the word troublesome written all over your face.”

It stands to reason that he owes He Xing’s life-saving grace and won’t be able to pay it off by only “charging twice”. Shen Mian also has a “refusing to owe others” kind of attitude. However, Gian is still in the nursery and Shen Mian can’t rest assured knowing that an unknown dragon will stay in the centre.

He Xing blinked, he was a bit stunned by this, “… I have an idea of what you are worried about but look at my dragon that can’t even leave you for three minutes, is there really any threat?”

“If you are not troublesome, why aren’t you saying who you are?”

Shen Mian said that while opening the virtual store and searching for gem dragon mineral powder. The light screen that popped up from the quantum computer showed various brands and ingredients.

He Xing moved closer towards him, “Are you buying mineral powder for the little dragon cub outside?”

Shen Mian didn’t say anything and clicked on best-selling products. The smallest portion was priced at 1500 and he silently withdrew. This price can be afforded, but there will be issues with food after buying it.

No wonder Little Gian has been unable to eat mineral powder. This 500-gram can of mineral powder actually costs this much.

He Xing tilted his head, “How come someone with such powerful abilities like you is short of money?”

Shen Mian calmed down, “How come such a large dragon like you not even have any clothes?”

He Xing smiled, “How would that be the same… I have an intermittent intellectual disability.”

Shen Mian looked up at him.

He Xing immediately raised his hand, making a surrendering pose, “I was wrong. Actually, you don’t need to buy mineral powder. The little cub is a golden-green subspecies of the gem dragon, usually supplementing with a special nutrient is enough.”

Shen Mian searched on his quantum computer and there were indeed special nutrients specifically for golden-green dragons. A small dose of the nutrients is priced at 20 star coins. Although the price was still relatively expensive, it was within an acceptable range.

He calculated and placed four orders. He will supplement Gian once a week.

He Xing trembled and said, “This kind little brother, I’m about to change back, can you give me a bit?”

Shen Mian held He Xing’s wrist, which already had scales appearing, and gathered the silver mana.

His palm was dry and warm as the human body’s temperature is high. A thin cocoon formed on his fingertips, the pressure on his wrist increasing.

He Xing blankly lowered his head, again smelling the pheromone that the other party sent along with the mana.

A strong wine aroma with a little bit of sweetness.

He Xing quickly glanced at the other party. The overly good-looking omega apparently did not realise the problem of pheromones. He Xing slowly exhaled, silently repeating the declaration of enlistment three times.

“Aren’t you dragons unable to awaken abilities?”

Shen Mian did not notice He Xing’s abnormality, slightly frowning while watching the mana being concealed in He Xing’s skin.

He Xing, on the other hand, clutched Shen Mian’s wrist with an expression that looked like he couldn’t survive without him,“It’s true, we can’t. I have also been in contact with many humans who have awakened their abilities but have never had any special reactions to them… Probably because we were born as fated pairs?”

Shen Mian just coldly looked at him.

He Xing helpless, “Okay, okay. I’m actually just a normal soldier and I have some physical problems. If I go back like this, I will definitely be dismissed by the army…”

Shen Mian picked up the cup and expressionlessly listened to his nonsense.

He Xing, “… Everything previously said was made up. Do you really not know who I am?”

Shen Mian baffled, “Should I know who you are?”

“It stands to reason,” He Xing emphasized, “You really should know who I am.”

Shen Mian thought for a few seconds, opened his quantum computer and searched for He Xing. In the first result that popped up, he is the first heir to the Dragon Empire, also known as the crown prince, and serves as the 7th Legion’s Marshal.

The crown prince has very little personal information that has been publicized, all of which are basic information that is irrelevant: gender, age, schools attended, merits and positions.

There is not even a photo.

He Xing spread his hands, “After all, I went to war and served on the front lines. Before the war is settled, private information must be kept a secret. You are a kindergarten teacher from the humans, so you must’ve learnt a bit about the dragon’s history, right? Although the dragons have already established an empire, there are still some dragons who believe that civilisation should regress back to the era of racial separation, so there was civil strife for many years.”

Shen Mian looked at the scar on He Xin’s body: “So you were injured during the mission and suddenly changed back to a young state?”

He Xing nodded, “I’ve had this problem for a long time and I will cultivate for a while every time it happens and will be better after a while. See, I really won’t cause you any trouble, I’m also very strong, suitable for working for you.

Shen Mian, “I see you are very beautiful, why don’t you go sell yourself?”

He Xing really considered it for two seconds, then lifted his still left hand that was holding Shen Mian, “What should I do if halfway through being sold, I turn small? There is a high probability that the service purchased will be returned.”

The pun is also very reasonable.

Shen Mian, “…”

He Xing didn’t let go of the hand he was holding and after He Xing changed back into a dragon, he didn’t know how to drink the nutrient solution that was fed to him. If he really was thrown out… he may starve to death.

He saved him once in the wastelands and helped him out at the centre’s front gate.

Shen Mian slowly frowned, “My name is Shen Mian.”

He Xing froze for a moment and quickly reacted. As soon as a smile appeared on his face, he was smashed by Shen Mian’s next sentence –

Shen Mian pulled out his hand, “You will live in this room with me until you have a cure for your problem.”

He Xing, “…”

Are you that enthusiastic?

The author has something to say:

I see that everyone is doubtful about the price of dragon grass, so let me explain:

This is the case, everyone knows that the price is determined by the value and is affected by supply and demand. No matter how scarce the dragon grass is, it is just a natural throat lozenge that is easy to use. 50 cents for one piece of chewing gum is normal, $1.50 for one piece is a bit expensive and $3 for one piece, no one will buy it (at least if I found one piece that costs $3, I would put it back because it’s not worth it, it’s just chewing gum.)

In addition, in the article, dragon grass also has cheaper alternatives that are less effective, so because the quantity is small, it sells for seven or eight star coins per leaf, so why wouldn’t the dragons hoard a few alternatives at home?

I haven’t studied economics, so these are my own feelings, if there is something wrong, please point me out!

    1. No one adopt him probably because his high maintenance. Just for his food alone need hundreds star coins per day. Unless there’s a rich person want to adopt a dragon cub, he probably will never get adopted. 😅

  2. Why would readers doubt the price of dragon grass? It’s not like there’s an analogous real life product. It also sounds like it’s food and not just a lozenge.
