Laying Eggs

Interstellar New Calendar, Water Star

Shen Mian woke up in severe pain and with a blurred vision, he saw several figures standing in front of him – how come there are little green people? Eco-version smurfs?

“He’s awake! He’s finally awake!”

Shen Mian did not recognise any of these people. He forced his body to sit upright and looked around, realising that the area was completely unfamiliar. It looked nothing like the apocalypse.

The green dwarfs in front of him seem like they have nothing to do with humans. The language spoken by the other party wasn’t any foreign language that Shen Mian recognised, but for some reason, he could understand it.

Shen Mian squinted his eyes in the grey sunlight. Fortunately, not waiting for him to speak, someone already started talking a bunch, “Dean Shen, how could you dare to go to the unopened wasteland? There are many ferocious wurms in that place. You luckily escaped this time but you might not next time.”

”Yes…”

During the discussion where he was comforted and exhorted, Shen Mian realised there were memories that did not belong to him – this isn’t Earth but a planet known as Water Star that is an unknown number of light-years away from earth. The “people” in front of him are not actually humans but are creatures of higher intelligence: dragons.

That’s right, there are actually dragons in this world, divided into the intelligent dragons and the less intelligent wurms. Orthodox dragons have their own civilization and can freely transform between their dragon and humanoid forms, no different from aliens in science fiction films. The human civilisations and dragon civilisations are currently in a phase where they are still getting used to each other.

The wurms are the general term for interstellar mutant species that are aggressive and have a large appetite. They can survive on any liveable planet and occupy the liveable spaces of the humans and dragons.

Shen Mian’s current body is an ordinary human, also called Shen Mian, and was a student that majored in “young dragon’s education” in the human civilisation. After graduation, he was allocated to a childcare centre on a planet where the human and dragon civilisations bordered, but at the same time, he was also an anchor on a platform.

Because the childcare centre was very poor, the original owner live broadcasted himself venturing into the wilderness to gain attention. As a result, he was attacked by a wurm and his psyche died on the spot.

When Shen Mian transmigrated, he couldn’t understand the situation at all. The dying body absorbed a lot of its mana to save itself. He managed to avoid it for a little before the dizziness got heavier. Before he finally fainted, he heard a mountain tremoring roar. The second short wake-up was when a tree dragon family brought him out.

The tree dragon family is considered a neighbour of the childcare centre, but these neighbours are a little far away, taking a normal human walking an hour to get there.

Shen Mian took the nutrient solution that the mother tree dragon handed him, tore it open and drank, “Thank you.”

Lisa, the mother tree dragon, spoke softly, “You’re welcome, but we didn’t do anything except bring you back. Your body recovers very quickly so we didn’t take you to the hospital.”

Shen Mian nodded, “ Without you, I may not have been able to return, thank you for looking after me.”

Lisa promptly waved her hand, “ We didn’t look after you either… We will head back first, there are still many matters at home.”

Shen Mian was about to get out of bed and as soon as he moved, the wounds on his body immediately began to cause him immense pain1. It seemed the wounds were not as healed as Shen Mian thought.

“Don’t do that! Your body hasn’t healed yet.”

Lisa quickly pushed him back down and hurried away with her family. Before leaving, Lisa held Shen Mian’s and whispered to him, “You might not want to go out right now, Dorey has already returned.”

Shen Mian froze for a moment, vaguely remembering that this person should be in conflict with the original owner. He didn’t exactly remember what it was, so he thought it was not a big deal.

But for some reason, he always feels that there is some important information that he did not receive.

Shen Mian put aside the matter of Dorey and relaxedly laid down to sort out the chaotic abilities in his body.

Before Shen Mian transmigrated, the space ability had already reached the peak that humans could reach, which was grade 12. His wood ability is a little weaker but is stable at grade 9. Fortunately, he had abilities otherwise Shen Mian would only be able to take in two breaths before dying once again.

The wood ability had been used up, the space ability had a little remaining. Shen Mian gathered up his abilities, waiting for them to automatically recover.

Next, Shen Mian opened his eyes and picked up the original owner’s quantum computer.

He received some of the original owner’s memory and needed to sort it out:

The childcare centre where the original works is called Qiming, which was originally a private welfare home. The original owner became the dean after the previous dean passed away. The centre was so poor that they couldn’t even use a housekeeping robot.

Raising dragons cost money and the cubs at the centre are all orphans. The centre doesn’t gain income through tuition fees and soon became unable to function. After the old dean died, he sent away a few cubs, leaving only one gem dragon cub that refused to leave the centre no matter what.

The original owner couldn’t afford to raise even one cub so, in order to gain more rewards during the live broadcasts, he constantly puts himself on the edge of death. This time, his luck really ran out2.

However, the live broadcast this time gained a lot of rewards, probably enough for the cub to eat a few meals.

Wait, where’s the cub?

Shen Mian lifted the quilt and got out of bed, came out of the room and hurriedly glanced at the childcare centre’s surroundings.

The land that the centre occupies is a similar size to the childcare centres on earth, except there is only one small three-story building and the rest of the area, except for the ground level3, is a vegetable field with wild grass.

Shen Mian narrowed his eyes, he didn’t feel any obvious movements in the small building so he went downstairs and found a golden-green cub at the centre’s backyard wall.

The dragon cubs in the childcare centre are under twelve, so they cannot transform into their humanoid forms yet. Therefore, this dragon cub is completely in the form of a dragon. Covered in gold and green, there were rows of rugged crystal spines on the tail and a the tip of the tail was a large bald spot.

The cub looked like a shiny chibi version of a tyrannosaurus rex that is also a green apple flavour.

This child seems to be called Gian and he is part of the gem dragon race.

In the memory of the original owner, there are seven major genera of dragons: mythical dragons, devouring dragons, gem dragons, velvet dragons, aquatic dragons, dream dragons and flame dragons. The gem dragon cub is a kind of the gem dragon subspecies. The beautiful scales and crystal spines of the gem dragon are sought after by humans. The exceptionally good looking ones often sell for a high price.

It’s just that the crystals spines and scales of a young dragon can easily soften after leaving the body, so they can’t compete with the adult dragon ones and can’t be sold for a high price, but for some humans that love crystal spines but cannot afford the price, the young dragon’s ones are a good alternative.

Shen Mian gently and quietly walked towards Gian, squatted down, “What are you doing?”

Gian was so frightened that he covered the thing in his paws, abruptly opening his eyes. After discovering that it was Shen Mian, he relaxed and lowered his head, continuing to polish what he was holding and murmured, “Nothing.”

Shen Mian looked at Gian’s bold tail and the crystal spines he was holding, thinking that he was not blind.

A lot of stones were piled up in the backyard wall of the nursery, probably cleared from the ground when the yard was being levelled3. Many of the stones had been broken apart and some golden green scales were scattered on the sides.

There was a bald spot where the crystal spine on Gian’s tail should’ve been and a scale also fell off, the bright red blood stains showing through. At a glance, you could tell that the tail was smashed on the stone, causing the scale and crystal spine to be knocked off.

Gian continued to polish the crystal spine in his paw without saying a word. His crystal spine is not as beautiful as other dragons and if he wants it to sell at a good price, he has to take care of it. If he can sell it for two hundred stars, they could buy some better medicine.

Gian polished it for a while and suddenly felt a slight pain in his tail. Turning around, he finds out that the injured part of his tail has been bandaged. Shen Mian has never raised a cub before and awkwardly pet Gian’s head, “Don’t be afraid, I’ve already finished.”

There is nothing better than wood-based abilities to nourish the body unless there is some kind of dark technology that the interstellar age doesn’t know about, such as dragon blood or something.

Gian, “Aunty Lisa said that you need to take medicine for a while.”

He rinsed the crystal spine, wiped them and stood up, “It’s already polished, take it and sell it.”

Shen Mian pet his head, “Alright.”

With such a piece of crystal spine in Gian’s possession, there was no possibility that someone would come to collect it so he had to take it to the shop himself.

Although it’s currently the interstellar age, physical stores were still not replaced by virtual malls. Water Star is located at the border of human civilization and the dragon empire, its prosperity was no less than that of the big malls of ancient earth.

The crystal spines of the gem dragon only occasionally fall off. Gian’s crystal spines have only been sold a few times and each time they had been sold by the old dean when they were still alive. Gian himself did not know who the crystal spine was being sold to, he held Shen Mian’s hand while standing in a daze on the street where humans and dragons were coming and going.

Shen Mian opened the original owner’s quantum computer and searched for a nearby gem or jewellery store. The quantum computer’s small screen disappeared and a light screen popped up, the shops that met Shen Mian’s search criteria were marked with small dots.

Shen Mian picked a random point, “Let’s go and see this shop.”

Gian had no objections. For the first time, the little dragon cub stood on a street with all kinds of suspension cars and empty railways, he tightly held onto Shen Mian, fearing that he would get lost.

The little gem dragon is a genuine countryside dragon.

Shen Mian followed the quantum computer’s directions and stepped into the gem shop.

The store was filled with small accessories at relatively low prices, the rotating light screen displayed a “Handmade, Unique” sign. Such a small shop should welcome raw materials like the gem dragons crystal spines.

When the people around the counter dispersed, Shen Mian walked over, “Excuse me, do you accept the crystal spines and scales of the gem dragon? It’s from a young dragon.”

The blonde female sitting behind the counter looked up and saw a tall and thin young man with drooping eyes. He was so white he looked cold, his hair fell softly on his forehead and had dark eyebrows.

The blonde woman froze, “Accept.”

Shen Mian took the small package that Gian handed over and unfolded it on the counter.

The blonde woman checked the quality of the crystal spines while casually saying, “This dragon cub is a little malnourished. The back spine and scales have average gloss and average hardness… I can’t give you a high price.”

Gian is too short, so the shopkeeper couldn’t see him at all.

The gem dragon family loves to take care of themselves, their appearances are among the top ten of all dragon species.

After hearing this comment, little Gian felt like he was struck by lightning and immediately fell into self-doubt, was he not a pretty cub?!

Shen Mian lowered his head at the dragon cub who was doubting his own birth.

Without waiting for Shen Mian to think about how to comfort Gian, the shopkeeper had neatly finished weighing them and quoted, “Rounded up an integer, two hundred star coins. Will you be selling?”

Gian tugged Shen Mian’s sleeve and nodded at him.

The childcare centre had run out of money a few days ago, otherwise, the dean wouldn’t have gone to such a dangerous place to live broadcast. Gian himself knows how much it costs to raise a gem dragon cub- his average meal is five times the amount a normal adult human has and it has to be all meat, or he would need two very expensive nutrient solutions.

Shen Mian didn’t have anything to say. After the shopkeeper gave them the money, Shen Mian took Gian out of the jewellery store and bought some nutrient solutions then returned to the centre.

His abilities weren’t a panacea after all. The original owner died at a price and the body isn’t originally his. Although the foundation is good, in the end, the body’s condition is very bad.

Shen Mian forced himself to head back despite being in pain coming from the abilities. When he finally saw the gate of the centre, he didn’t expect to see a stranger standing at the gate.

Gian held onto Shen Mian.

The little gem dragon raised his ears, shivering against Shen Mian’s body, “Do-Dorey.”

Shen Mian’s gaze flicked back and forth between the two and finally settled on the man, who had a bear-like build. Shen Mian patted Gian’s head, Dorey, who was standing in front of the gate, had already seen him and strode over.

In the original owner’s obscure memory, Dorey is an adult dragon. In his humanoid form, his height is close to two metres and the pattern on his clothes distort from his muscles.

Shen Mian put Gian behind him and estimated the combat strength from the opponent’s size. He didn’t know which race the opponent was from, nor did he know what special racial skills the opponent had.

His abilities have not fully recovered and his body is so weak that he can’t even fight a chicken, so he tries his best to avoid conflict. Also, after looking at Dorey, he doesn’t look like he wants to come over and fight.

Dorey stopped in front of Shen Mian and ambiguously said, “You said that I should give you three days to consider and now the time is up. When will you marry me? You must lay me two eggs!”

Dorey looked up and down at Shen Mian. There are many good-looking omegas, but this type of omega is very rare, “stay far away from me” was written all over his body.

The more that was said, the wider Shen Mian’s eyes became.

Shen Mian, “…Lay what?”

Is his brain alright?

Dorey thought he didn’t hear it clearly and once again emphasised, “Lay eggs!”

Shen Mian finally realised what the important thing he hadn’t received was – this world actually had an ABO secondary gender.

What’s more, he is an omega.

Phrases with noodle :,,)

  1. 做妖 (zuò yāo)
Literally meaning becoming a demon, but actually means being naughty so the sentence was the wounds were being naughty. It actually just means the wounds caused a lot of pain.
