LBRDI Chapter 117

Extra

“Do I have to wear this? Isn’t it too much to wear this for today’s occasion?”
Shen Mian tugged on the collar.

He wore an extraordinarily elaborate gown, lined with white on the inside.  The collar was made into a stand-up collar for the sake of beauty and because it was a royal gown, the collar was sewn with a blooming thorn flower. A row of jewel buttons was buttoned tightly in accordance with dressing etiquette.

In order to maintain the shape of the jacket, the material used was easy to deform. The inside also supported the soft elastic shoulder support. The sleeves were made of two layers and were sealed tightly.

He Xing took a bright red half cloak and put it on Shen Mian, the precious metal clasp clicked. The cloak was basically decorated with precious metals and stones, and when pressed against Shen Mian’s shoulders, the presence is so strong that it couldn’t be ignored.

Shen Mian, “…”

Shen Mian, whose dressing style was usually more conservative, was a little unbearable. Although the two-piece set was upright, it was still tolerable, but not the cloak- because of the need to maintain the shape, the cloak material was very hard. It was narrow at the top and wide at the bottom and although it was very well-fitting, for Shen Mian, it was almost like putting a bucket on himself.
Shen Mian slightly moved and the royal emblem made a clear sound of impact under the cloak.

“Did you invent this gown in order to smother the person in question on all important days and thus achieve control of the dragon?”

He Xing stifled a laugh, passed his arm through the cloak and encircled Shen Mian’s waist. “But it looks good.”
He Xing tilted his head and kissed the corner of Shen Mian’s mouth, whispering, “Why is our dean so good looking?”

Like a young general with a lot of merits.

Today was the graduation ceremony of the little dragon cubs.
This was Qiming Childcare Centre’s first graduation ceremony and had extraordinary significance. Shen Mian researched for half a month and finally came up with satisfactory graduation certificates. The primary school notice was also sent to Shen Mian’s office a few days ago.

The young dragon cubs all went to the same elementary school as they had hoped. It was a good thing that classes were not divided according to scores, otherwise, Lu Yuan and Rhein would have lost the possibility of being in the same class as Gian and the others.

Shen Mian untied his cloak and loosened the two buttons of his jacket. “It’s too formal, it will make Gian and the others nervous.”
He Xing reached out, took the cloak and put it on his arm, a little regretful. He held Shen Mian’s hand and put it to his lips, kissing his fingertips.

“Then I’ll take the little dragon cubs to the gym first.”

Shen Mian nodded.

The graduation ceremony was held in a semi-enclosed stadium behind the mock battle arena.
When Shen Mian and the sixth-grade teachers arrived, the little dragon cubs had all arrived, sitting on small stools and although they were sitting in a docile posture, the excitement in their eyes could not be hidden.

Graduation from a childcare centre was a little dragon cub’s first graduation in their life. They were all cubs of the centre and although they were graduating, they will never leave the dean. For them, they were definitely reluctant to leave, but not that much, after all, the person they were most reluctant to leave was still by their side.

Shen Mian had the graduation certificates and primary school acceptance notices pressed in his hand. He was the main teacher of the graduating class and the other childcare teachers were waiting for him to speak.

The publicity department was in charge of photography with a camera. The little dragon cubs in this class were the first graduates of the centre with a graduation rate of 100% and all of them had entered a fairly famous chain primary school with excellent grades, so of course, they should be well-publicised. This would give them more advantages when they were enrolling students in the new school year.

It would be time for the Dean’s speech later.
The head of the publicity department and the part-time photographer were in high spirits, looking hopefully at the stable and atmospheric dean.

Shen Mian was not good at speaking on occasions and couldn’t be bothered to write essays that sang praise. He faced the bright eyes of the little dragon cubs, became silent for a few seconds, then said, “First of all, congratulations to the students successfully completed their studies in the childcare centre, Qiming and I are honoured to have such excellent students…”

He spoke for less than five minutes before ending what should’ve been the longest speech by the dean, picked up the graduation certificates and acceptance notices and walked over to the little dragon cubs, handing them out one by one.
Since Dean Shen’s speech was very short, several other childcare teachers had to summarize their prepared speeches.

The first graduation ceremony of the childcare centre was over in thirty minutes.

The head of the publicity department was a little confused, desperately winking at the dean: Say a little more, Dean, I’ll record a video!
Dean Shen received the message, but naturally would not drag out the time, so he turned his attention to He Xing.

He Xing put his right hand in his pocket, his fingertips stroked the velvet box’s casing and slowly stood up.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince walked up to Shen Mian in front of all the eyes and knelt down on one knee.

Shen Mian: ?
I let you come up to say a few things, not for you to make trouble.

Looking at this posture, he seemed to be proposing. But he and He Xing had already received a certificate, why was he still proposing?
Shen Mian’s face was paralysed as he stared at him.

He Xing, “Today is the little dragon cub’s graduation ceremony. They have grown up.”

Shen Mian glanced back, the head of the publicity department held up the camera, hand holding the lens, not knowing whether to shoot or not. Several childcare teachers who attended the graduation ceremony together also froze looking at Shen Mian.
Lu Yuan immediately guessed what was happening and already sat up on his seat, quickly holding Gian’s hand, making a cheering gesture towards He Xing’s back.

Shen Mian, “…What are you doing.”

He Xing, “Proposing to you.”

He took out the velvet box, opened it, and inside was a plain men’s ring. “Can we have a wedding?”

Although he and Shen Mian have received a certificate, they had not held a wedding. Because the little dragon cubs’ schooling was all done on Water Star, and Shen Mian as the dean, when there was a shortage of staff in the centre, Shen Mian had to wait in the centre until the last childcare teacher left before closing the centre if he wanted to go back to the Imperial Star for the holidays. As a result, the time to stay in the Imperial Capital is less.
So they had held a certificate for years but had not held a wedding.

These two years, the development of the centre was very good. Shen Mian would collect the key to leave mid-July sometimes. This year, Gian and the other’s schooling ended early, Shen Mian also wanted to give themselves a vacation, so he intended to return to the Imperial Star in early June, meet up with Rhein’s father and Lu Yuan’s parents and take the two little dragon cubs to the Imperial Capital to play for a while.
He Xing also knew there was more time this year. If there was no wedding in the first half of this year, Shen Mian will postpone the wedding because of the little dragon cub’s studies.

He Xing, “I specially consulted with the human civilisation ambassador stationed in the Dragon empire for some advice on human habits, so I ordered a ring. Do you like it?”

“Can I swear to be with you in front of the public?”

Shen Mian was stunned. He had actually forgotten about the wedding. After all, he was the type to forget that he had even gone through the marriage procedures for the certificate, of course, he will not remember more formal things like a wedding.

But…
Shen Mian looked down. He Xing’s gaze was bright under the shadow of his brow.

Shen Mian often looked at He Xing from this angle.
He Xing wasn’t an alpha that really cared about face. Sometimes when Shen Mian woke up late, when he opened his eyes, He Xing would kneel beside the bed like this and then come over to ask for a kiss.

But such a gaze was less common.
He Xing looked like this when he wanted something, but he was a little more nervous than usual.

Shen Mian couldn’t refuse He Xing and couldn’t refuse him in front of so many outsiders.
As the crown prince, He Xing needed a wedding, so did his He Xing.

Shen Mian held out his hand.
He Xing didn’t understand so he held out his hand.

Shen Mian and his fingers interlocked. “Of course you can.”
He Xing smiled, pulled Shen Mian’s hand and put it on his lips for a kiss.

The head of the publicity department holding the camera, “…”
I-I-Is, is this also publicity?

……

The wedding was decided to be held at the end of August.

Because of the shortage of time, there wasn’t too much preparation. Wedding outfits and the venue set-up took nearly two months and they finally held the wedding before the little dragon cubs started school.
On the day of the wedding, the gates of Feiyun City were opened and all invited friends and family entered in proper attire.

Inside Feiyun City, Shen Mian was wearing a formal outfit made to order in accordance with the etiquette. The gown was very similar to the one on the day of the proposal, but the style was much more elaborate. Shen Mian tidied up the collar. The gown was pure white, the cloak was bright red, and the royal insignia fell from the corners of the coat. He also had a short sword on his waist, with a coiled golden geng chen painted on the sheath.

The outfit was different from the formal wear worn on formal occasions, while the formal wear was simple and elegant. This outfit was gorgeous and beautiful and a large part of the wearing experience may be sacrificed to look good.

Shen Mian slightly moved. The cloak’s material was heavy, making Shen Mian, who was accustomed to lightness, uncomfortable.

Sensing that he was not used to the clothes, the butler took the initiative to explain, “Because of the relationship between the royal family and the military, the style of many of the gowns is modelled after the military gown. When the oath is over, you will be changed to a lighter gown.”

Shen Mian looked back, the human designer responsible for his clothing snapped his fingers and immediately a dragon pulled open the closet.  Eight different sets of gowns were displayed in front of Shen Mian.

Shen Mian, “…”
Changing into eight outfits in one day?

Shen Mian, “Wasn’t it five outfits?”

Li Cong, who entered the Dragon Empire to work because of the friendship between the civilisations and was selected to be Shen Mian’s designer because of his human identity, “This… aiya, isn’t the number five unlucky? I discussed with Her Highness and decided to add an extra set. In the end… I accidentally ordered a few more sets. Her Highness and His Majesty looked at them and said they’re all good, so all stayed.”

Shen Mian: …Why doesn’t he, the “clothes hanger”, know?

Dean clothes hanger and Li Cong looked at each other for a few seconds and silently turned his head.
Li Cong, who only watched a few live broadcasts and saw through Dean Shen’s nature, silently made a yay hand gesture internally.

The quantum computer on the butler’s wrist vibrated for a moment. He looked at the time and hurriedly spoke, “Your Highness, the time is almost up.”

Shen Mian finished fixing his cuffs before he realised that “Your Highness” referred to him. “Wait a minute, I’ll add an accessory.”
Li Cong, who was looking at the next outfit, “Then I’ll choose one for you…”

Li Cong’s words were suddenly stuck in his throat- he saw Dean Shen take out a velvet box and take out a medallion in the shape of a thorn flower.
Although Li Cong has only been in the Dragon Empire for less than a year, for the sake of designing the wedding outfit this time, he had purposely studied the various knowledge and etiquette of the royal family. Among them, he was even more familiar with the various medals- in case of a mistake, his reputation in this line would be ruined. After all, even if the royal family doesn’t pursue it, no company would want to hire a designer who was careless that even designing for the royal family could go wrong.

So Li Cong could tell at a glance that this badge was the highest ranking medal awarded by the royal family, which was only awarded to citizens who had made significant contributions to the country. Although the dean is very popular and knows how to raise cubs, he did not seem to be involved in major contributions.
But His Highness had several of these kinds of medals.

Li Cong thought: In order to study the military uniform style, he deliberately watched His Highness’s first appearance. He was covered in medals. He even had two medals that were exchanged for life1.
The medal swayed at Shen Mian’s fingertips and he politely asked, “It seems that I can’t wear it directly. Can you give me a chain?”

This was the highest commendation from the royal family, and any dragon who received a medal for their contribution was entitled to wear it on any occasion. He couldn’t, but it was a gift from He Xing when he first showed him his hidden affection. He wasn’t allowed to wear it, but he could carry it.
Li Cong froze for a moment, not reacting. The butler, however, immediately understood and took off a gold chain of a pocket watch and handed it to Shen Mian.

Shen Mian put the medal on the chain and tied it under the cloak, finally straightened his clothes, turned around and left the room.
He Xing was already waiting at the door.

He was wearing a military uniform without hanging any medals. Seeing Shen Mian’s meticulous dress, he slightly smiled and reached out to undo a button for Shen Mian. “This is your wedding, do whatever you want.”
Shen Mian made a sound of confirmation.

The morning sun was not too warm. The corridor was lit, and suddenly the footsteps of little dragon cubs came from the stairway. A short while later Gian and Xing Fei, wearing small formal outfits, walked through the long corridor holding hands and came straight to Shen Mian and He Xing.
Two little dragon cubs, one on the right and one of the left, held onto Shen Mian and He Xing.

Xing Fei was quiet for a bit. “Dad, let’s go over. His Majesty and Her Highness are already waiting for us.”
Gian was a little embarrassed and hung his head. “En, Lu Yuan and the others want to eat cake, we should hurry and go.”

Shen Mian was just about to bend down and pick up Xing Fei when the little girl smiled and avoided. “There are a lot of decorations on dad.”
He Xing suddenly picked up Gian. “What about me? Can I carry you?”

Gian seriously patted He Xing. “Papa2 He Xing can’t carry us either.”
He Xing looked at himself. Although the material of the uniform was not soft, he didn’t wear a medal. “I didn’t hang anything, are you still getting poked?”

Gian, “Because dad isn’t carring a little dragon cub, and… I’m already eleven.”
Dad Shen, who could only hold Xing Fei’s hand, “Gian is right, quickly put him down.”

He Xing looked at Gian, lowered his head and kissed the little dragon cub’s cheek. He then bent down, put Gian down and walked out with Shen Mian.

Shen Mian and his big and little dragon cubs through the long and bright corridor. The red carpet outside the palace went straight to the wedding venue. As soon as they appeared, the applause boomed.

Shen Mian turned his face. He Xing quietly stretched out his hand, his fingertips touching Shen Mian.

Shen Mian raised his hand to hold He Xing’s hand. “Let’s go.”

  5. thank you all for translating this lovely story ❤
btw 即便是这样有命换没命戴的勋章也有两个 roughly means (he) even has two medals that (people) have the fortune to earn but not the fortune to wear, ie they usually died in the course of the heroic actions that earned them the medal in the first place

  8. It’s finished? It is? Oh my, this is the first time I wish a novel could be more longer uwu. It’s sooo cute, heart warming and really simple. Story without so much conflict but many good message like this, so difficult to find. Love all the cubs, I am sure I’ll be like those old fans if I am there, watching the live broadcast everytime. So lovely, love both the Dean and He Xing. I wish I could see them having their own child too but that’s okay, they both have Gian and Xing Fei already XD.

  11. 即便是这样有命换没命戴的勋章也有两个… Pretty much refers to medals that are usually received posthumously. It’s rare enough to survive whatever ordeal led to achieving one, let alone two. These are typically the highest honours too.
