LBRDI Chapter 103

Scheming Dean

Shen Mian woke up very early the next day.

The final exams for first and second grade were separated. By the time the second grade began their final exams, the first grade cubs would have already finished all their subjects.

Unlike the end of the semester, you had to wait for the exam results to come out at the end of the year. The holidays would not begin until the teachers had analyzed the cub’s results. So the first year cubs who had taken their exams remained in the centre, waiting for their scores to come out.

For the first grade little dragon cubs, just because they finished their exams, it didn’t mean that they could relax. At breakfast in the morning, the little dragon cubs were listless- who knew what score they would get this year?

Because of the recent exams, the nutritionist on duty had specially adjusted the recipe and cooked an exclusive nutritious meal for the exams every day, which made the dragon cub’s faces become ashen- the staple food for the little dragon cub’s was originally light and tasteless nutrition solution, but now even the side dishes had been changed to “healthy” dishes, which made it more difficult for the little dragon cubs to eat.

He Xing himself had heavy tastes and after a few meals, he only drank the nutrient solution.

Now that the first grade had finished their exams and the second grade would start their exams, Shen Mian wanted to make some breakfast and give the little dragon cubs a change of taste.

He Xing was squeezed by Lu Yuan all night and was so hot that he immediately got up when he felt Shen Mian wake up. “I’ll send him back to sleep.”

Shen Mian dumped his pyjamas, picked up the long sleeve shirt that had been hung up aside and put it on. “…Then why didn’t you send him back to his dorm last night?”

He Xing, “…”

Shen Mian went into the bathroom to wash up. “Don’t send him back, they sleep very lightly in the morning. Don’t wake up Gian and Rhein.”

He Xing didn’t want to go back to sleep with the fluffy little fatty, so he also got up to wash up.

Shen Mian took the quantum computer to the kitchen.
Ever since he hired a nutritionist, he never started a live broadcast this early in the morning. There are a lot of fans who miss him live broadcasting making breakfast in the morning.

After all, fans who weren’t in a different time zone to Water Star loved the feeling of gradually waking up from the aroma of food.

The nutritionist on duty today was a male beta. He was currently handling a fish and there was a steamer basket next to him, probably to steam it. The nutritionist was very surprised when he saw Shen Mian coming and thought that the dean was here for an inspection.

The nutritionist stood aside at a loss. “Dean… My side dishes this morning are going to be sweet potato pancakes, steamed fish, sliced white meat and boiled cabbage…”

It was still very early in the morning and the nutritionist had only just started preparing breakfast. Among the raw ingredients on the menu, only the fish had begun to be processed.

Shen Mian lost his appetite just listening to that. Although he wanted it to be nutritious and healthy, if they couldn’t eat it, then it wouldn’t be nutritious. He rolled up his sleeve. “I’ll make breakfast today.”

The nutritionist was shocked. “B-But…”

Shen Mian smoothly handed the pot lid to He Xing1. “It just so happened that He Xing wanted to eat wine stew.”

The nutritionist scratched his head. “I haven’t learnt how to make that. Dean, you go ahead.”
As expected of His Royal Highness. All the dishes he ate in the morning were better than other dragons.

In reality, He Xing was pretty much fine with the recipes. It was true that he didn’t really like the lighter flavoured side dishes, but as long as he wasn’t in a state of IQ loss, he was very easy to feed. As long as he was full, what he ate wasn’t that important.

The nutritionist looked at Shen Mian in admiration. “Then Dean, I’ll give you a hand.”

Shen Mian turned on the quantum computer. “I’m going to start a live broadcast. You can stay if you don’t mind.”

The nutritionist quickly shook his head. “I don’t mind, I don’t mind. I also want to learn new dishes from the dean. Wine stew… I’ll learn how to cook it so the dean won’t need to cook it himself.”

Shen Mian looked at him silently, wanting to kick him out- why would there be any wine stew? It was just the name of a dish he had made up off the top of his head. If the nutritionist stayed in the kitchen, he would really have to make a meat stew.

The nutritionist looked at him expectantly.

Shen Mian set up the quantum computer under the slightly adoring eyes of the nutritionist and had the camera pointed squarely at him. It had been a long time since he had a live broadcast this early in the morning, and it took several minutes for the viewing figures in the live broadcast to rise wildly.

[Du Song Song: So our dean also live broadcasts in the morning? If I hadn’t woken up hungry this morning, wouldn’t I have missed it?! How many times have I missed it before?]

[Crushed Ice: The dean used to make breakfast, but then a nutritionist came and he stopped. He occasionally live broadcasts on Saturdays and Sundays.]

[Crown Prince’s Dean: I have to go to class! I’m lazy and don’t want to move, kisses to the dean, goodbye dean!]

[Xue Lulu: Medal is actually a student?]

[Crown Prince’s Dean: No, I’m off to teach other dragons… I’ve just finished a semester of being a lecturer. I really have to go, goodbye dean.]

[Cui Cui Hua: Why is the dean up so early today? Is the director making breakfast for the cubs himself?]

[Big fluffy tail: In the past, all three meals in the centre were made by the dean. I’ve been a fan for a long time and I’ve watched the development of the childcare centre up to now, I’m so emotional.]

Shen Mian explained, “It’s been a long time since I’ve made breakfast for the little dragon cubs. They’ve been having a hard time with exams lately, so I’m making something else for them for a change.”

The fish that was to be used for steaming had been processed almost completely and it wouldn’t be fresh if it was put back into the refrigerator, so Shen Mian simply took over the fish and looked at the size intending to cut it into several sections to make squirrel fish.

In the childcare centre, there were many cubs whose staple food was fish, so of course, the amount of fish used to make soup was not small, otherwise, the little dragon cubs who came later would have to drink soup. You couldn’t pour oil on something this big without cutting it first.

Squirrel fish is a traditional Chinese dish, and of course, the nutritionist had never seen it before. He stood on the side while taking notes carefully and asked serious questions from time to time.

The fish was scored and seasoned, then covered in flour. The oil splashed when it was hot and the fish, which was originally coated with flour, gradually became golden in the hot oil.

But during the deep-frying of the fish, the oil sparks splattered rather badly and a few drops landed on the back of Shen Mian’s hand. He glanced at the back of his hand and withdrew his gaze- how could he not be splattered by oil while cooking.

After the fish was fried, the sauce was made. Shen Mian made a modified squirrel fish, using a sweet and sour sauce mixed with other ingredients, and poured it over the fish. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, the sauce was sour with a bit of sweetness, bright in colour and looked especially delicious.

He Xing smelled the aroma of the squirrel fish as soon as he walked in through the door. “It smells so good, did you fry fish?”

Shen Mian tore off two pieces of the fish and put them on two plates, instructing the nutritionist and He Xing to have a taste.

He Xing showed his hands to him, having very distinct black ash on his palms. “I just helped Wen Yan move a robot.”

Shen Mian’s hands paused, grabbed the chopsticks and picked up the fish.

He Xing very naturally leaned in and opened his mouth to eat it. “Mn, it’s delicious. Gian and Xing Fei will definitely like it.”

The nutritionist, who was immersed in the sweet and sour taste, “…”
He scratched his head. He always felt as if the dean and the crown prince had something weird going on between them.

[A stream: I’m desperately trying to convince myself that the dean only fed him because His Highness didn’t wash his hands.]

[Have any meat to eat?: Falling fast asleep without waking up has come to report!]

[Cub won’t eat vegetables: Falling fast asleep without waking up! Falling fast asleep without waking up! Ahhhh our dean is so doting and His Highness is so pampered wu wu wu.]

[Clothes fell off: Ahhhh, Dean, feed me food! Dean, feed me! I also really want to eat!]

He Xing suddenly saw the marks on the back of Shen Mian’s hand. “Did oil splatter on you?”
He Xing, as a little idiot in the kitchen, was too familiar with the scene of oil splattering. He was bound to have this scene while he cooked, so he could immediately see that the back of Shen Minh’s hand was burned by oil sparks.

Shen Mian mned in conformation and started peeling the cabbage.

He Xing took a piece of paper towel and wiped his hands. “You go run it under water for a bit, leave the cabbage here to me.”

Shen Mian didn’t care at all. “It doesn’t hurt. You get splattered with oil sparks when you cook too.”

He Xing squeezed his hand, soaked a paper towel in cold water and gently applied the cold paper towel on the place where the oil spark splattered. “My skin is thick. Don’t you know that us dragons turn into dragon shapes when we cook? Why did you come to cook today?”

Shen Mian, “…I really didn’t know you cooked like that.”

The nutritionist was afraid that the dean’s concern for the crown prince would be wasted, so he quickly explained, “The dean said you wanted wine stew, so he came to make it for you.”

He Xing: ???

Shen Mian, “…”

Marshal He slowly spoke, “Is that so? I only just found out that I wanted to eat that.”

The nutritionist blankly stared at He Xing.

His Highness the Crown Prince hated iron for not becoming steel2. “Don’t think that he is innocent just because he is cold and doesn’t like talking. He robbed you of your work, but you are quite happy. Are you not afraid that he will lay you off?”
Dean Shen’s methods of coaxing the little dragon cubs had been repeated over and over again, but his methods used to coax the big dragon cub were never repeated.

He Xing saw the expression on the nutritionist’s face and knew that he had never seen this style of a cool guy.

[Seventh Legion Super God: Hey, why is what His Highness said the truth hahahahahahaha.]

[Does your throat hurt today?: Your Highness, do you see the look in the Dean’s eyes?]

[Your screen is broken: Hahahahahahaha Your Highness, you’re finished, you actually talked smack about the dean to the dean’s face.]

[Lipstick number: #Scheming Dean#]

[Eating a popsicle: #Scheming Dean#]

[Two winters don’t make a spring: #Scheming Dean#]

The barrage that covered the whole page rolled past in Shen Mian’s holographic glasses.

Shen Mian, “…”

  1. I love squirrel fish!! That sweet and sour taste. I can eat two bowls of rice with only the sauce alone 🤤🤤.
