LBRDI Chapter 81

Tidal

Qin Yi arrived at the centre the day before school started.

The young duke herself carried her case, coming along with a bodyguard gallantly in an air-railcar.

Shen Mian only knew she would arrive today and planned to pick her up, but he never thought that Qin Yi would be so independent that she dared to bring a bodyguard with her on an interstellar flight and an air-railcar.

The bodyguard was still the same one Shen Mian had seen, without a sense of existence. The young duke tidied up her clothes and patted her shoulders. “You’ve worked hard. When I got off the bus, I saw a small hotel in front of the residential area. You can rest for the night and go back in the morning. Remember to collect the invoice, the family will reimburse you.”

The bodyguard’s year-round paralyzed face smiled. “Alright, Duke.”

The young duke waved at him and the bodyguard stood up, nodding at Shen Mian. “Please, Dean, look after our Duke.”

Shen Miang, “Of course.”

The bodyguard said goodbye to Qin Yi, turned around and went out.

Shen Mian received the little Duke’s luggage. The weight should still be quite heavy for the little dragon cub, but Qin Yi just carried it anyway. “How come you didn’t send a message? Didn’t Mr Ke Yu come send you off too?”

Qin Yi laid in Shen Mian’s arms, swayed her tail and looked up at Shen Mian. She wasn’t exhausted at all after the long journey, instead, she was so lively that Shen Mian wondered whether she was possessed by Xing Fei. “Father went to an academic seminar and my grandfather hasn’t been feeling well recently. I didn’t want to be late, so I came by myself.”
The little duke left the Imperial Star, seemingly free from her heavy shackles, and turned into a small dragon cub.

Shen Mian patted her. “Gian and the others are in the mock battle arena. Let’s take a look at the dormitory first and put down your things there at the same time, okay?”

Qin Yi, “Is Xing Fei also in the dormitory?”

Shen Mian shook his head. “They’re all in the mock battle arena, but they’re live broadcasting.”

He Xing tried to become a childcare teacher, but Marshal He had been out of a childcare centre for more than ten years and he had forgotten the knowledge he had memorised back then, so he was asked to take the childcare teacher qualification certificate. That was only a possibility if he hung on from beginning to end. Shen Mian couldn’t stand his coercion, so he signed him up for a combat instructor certification exam. After finishing the exam the day before yesterday, he kept dragging the little dragon cubs to practise going to class.

Qin Yi was already eager to go to the mock battle arena and when she heard that Xing Fei was there, she didn’t hesitate at all. “Then let’s go to the mock battle arena.”

Shen Mian looked at the luggage in his arms. “Then I’ll help you put it away?”

Qin Yi thought to herself. “Then I’ll give them the gifts later tonight.”

Shen Mian nodded and took Qin Yi to the mock battle arena.

The new mock battle arena was silver-blue in appearance and from a distance, it had the sci-fi feel that sci-fi movies strived for. Entering inside, it was more spacious and more functional than the previous one.

And, of course, more expensive.

As soon as Shen Mian and Qin Yi entered the mock battle arena, they heard the sounds of the little dragon cubs making a ruckus, and only saw He Xing and the others behind a few training robots.

Lu Yuan and Gian were being chased by two training robots. Gian was able to maneuver around a bit with his fire-breathing, but Lu Yuan was too anxious to run, so he found a corner and crouched, turning his back to the robots and letting them grip the fluff on top of his head.

Shen Mian’s holographic glasses also finally received a signal from the quantum computer and dense barrages covered the screen, all of them saying hahaha:

[Death Rays: I can’t anymore, someone save me, I laughed until my stomach hurt.]

[Pig’s belly chicken: I laughed so much I don’t care anymore, what kind of big cutie is Lu Yuan hahahahaha.]

[Strawberry flavoured nutrient solution: Hahahahahaha, show me more of Lu Yuan. I’m laughing to the point abs come out and still am as fit as a ghost.]

[Nine Roses: Looks like the Conqueror has been completely scrapped, tsk tsk, raising little dragon cubs really scraps robots.]

Unlike the previous Conqueror, this was not a toy, but a robot that was often used in combat classes and was much harder to deal with than the Conqueror. However, the robot was programmed to not attack with real damage even if it successfully “captured” the cub.

Shen Mian knew at a glance that the one who set up the program was He Xing- only He Xing could set up such a program, which was damaging enough.

Lu Yuan had reverted from a black and pink fatty to a black and white fatty. Like a super-large glutinous rice dumpling in the corner, the kind with seaweed.

Of course, the robot’s fingers were not as flexible as human fingers and Lu Yuan’s fur was also very soft, so only a few hairs could be pulled off even after a long time, but every time it pulled on Lu Yuan, the big ball in the corner trembled and looked especially pitiful.

Rhein was sitting on Xing Fei’s lap and both dragon cubs covered their mouths, laughing. Rhein, who hadn’t sat still, slipped off Xing Fei’s knee but was quickly held by Xing Fei.

The two dragon cubs took a moment to relax and finally burst out laughing.

Lu Yuan, of course, heard, moved his ears and closed himself off.

Qin Yi, “…”
The young duke, now in her dragon form, couldn’t help but look at her scales as Lu Yuan’s fur was being pulled out and slowly shivered. “It looks so painful.”

Shen Mian shook his head. Although Lu Yuan had studied combat for a while, it was still too easy to panic against this kind of robot- this kind of robot was harder to deal with. Lu Yuan could actually deal with it, but he was just panicking and couldn’t react.

After the chaos, Gian slowly found the robot’s weakness. After running, he suddenly turned around and his flames accurately hit the robot’s “heart”. The robot determined that the attack was causing serious damage, stopped its actions and went back into standby.

After a few gasps of air and a moment’s deliberation, Gian blew out a puff of flame that hit the robot right in the back and saved Lu Yuan from the “torture” of pulling out fur.

Lu Yuan didn’t want to speak, and with a twist of his head, he held Gian’s tail in front of his face, feeling ashamed to see anyone.

Shen Mian walked over, patted Lu Yuan’s head and reached out to pick Rhein up. “A new dragon cub came.”

His voice entered the live room and the audience laughing crazily realised that he was back with a little white dragon cub beside him.

[Xue Lulu: ! What kind of dragon is this?! It’s so beautiful and it’s white to the point it glows. Whether it is a boy or a girl, the antlers are a little too sacred, it feels like an angel.]

[The moon is like me: This little dragon cub seems to have holy light on it.]

[Death Rays: AHHHH! This is a tidal dragon, right?! I can actually see a live tidal dragon, my God, I want a screenshot!]

[Crown Prince’s Dean: Little sister is very pretty, as pretty as Xing Fei. She looks quite quiet.]

[Vegetarian: Why are they called tidal dragons? Are they amphibious dragons like Xing Fei?]

[Seventh Legion Super God: Hm… It’s quite complicated, you can look it up on the encyclopedia. It’s not really easy to explain as it’s related to racial instincts, it’s not very scientific anyway.]

Shen Mian casually introduced her to the audience. “This is the centre’s new dragon cub.”

Qin Yi nodded her head in the direction of the quantum computer, then said to the dragon cubs, “Hello, I’m Qin Yi, eight years old, and I’ll be attending this childcare centre in the future. We met before the Dragon God Festival, in a video call.”
She should have been considered seven years old when she and Shen Mian met, but with less than a month to go before the Dragon God Festival, Ke Yu simply said she was eight.

Lu Yuan quickly sat upright. A few days ago, the dean also told them about Qin Yi coming. Lu Yuan and Rhein also met Qin Yi during the video call and sort of got along.

Qin Yi was even more beautiful than what Lu Yuan and Rhein saw in the video call, white with no mottled color at all, with beautiful white horns on her head, looking like a little fairy covered in holy light.

With this appearance, if she and Xing Fei were shrunk several times, they would definitely be recognised as elven dragons if they went out.

Rhein and Lu Yuan liked the pretty and elegant looking Qin Yi. After greeting Qin Yi, Rhein asked in a soft voice, “Do you want to play with us for a while? There are chairs here to sit on.”

Xing Fei hopped off her chair and looked at Qin Yi with a smile. She didn’t think Qin Yi would sit down to watch Brother Gian and Brother Lu Yuan play. Surely she would go over and dismantle the robot.

To Xing Fei, even if she was well enough now, her half-dragon body kept her from being as strong as Gian and the others, so she enjoyed watching the other cubs jumping around, which gave her some comfort.

Qin Yi belonged to the particularly lively ones.

Sure enough, Qin Yi waved her tail apologetically. “Thanks, but I’d love to play with the training robot too. Do you want to sit on me?”

Rhein quickly shook his head. “No, no, no. No need.”
He hurriedly sat on the arm of the chair and placed his hands squarely on his knees, doing his best to reduce his presence, worried that he might actually be dragged over to exercise.

Qin Yi walked over to take Xing Fei’s hand and told her to sit down.

Gian and Lu Yuan also came around to talk.

Shen Mian felt that the little dragon cubs were communicating well, so he walked over to He Xing. “Aren’t you going to teach them combat?”

He Xing lamented, “One year of teaching, ten years of life lost. Lu Yuan is too difficult to teach. He asked me why I couldn’t ride a dragon in non-space high altitude combat and had to fly a plane.”

This question full of holes was indeed something Lu Yuan would ask.
Shen Mian replied, “So you let the training robot pull out Lu Yuan’s fur?”

He Xing turned his head. “I’ll get another robot model for Qin Yi. She’s too good at tearing it down. Gotta get a real one.”

Shen Mian, “…”
Changing the topic was basically admitting.

He Xing pulled out a black robot from the closet. Just by looking at its appearance, one could tell that it was different from the one he had given to Lu Yuan. It was shorter than He Xing, but its lines were very precise, revealing the murderous air unique to war machines. He Xing loaded the robot with energy and selected the program. The robot moved a few times in accordance with its program, moving swiftly and sensitively, and its internal structure must’ve been very precise.

Shen Mian took a few steps back and He Xing patted the robot. The black training robot quickly walked, the movement not mechanically slow and clumsy, and it did not make much sound. The camera acting as eyes activated to emit a red light and the silence was particularly oppressive.

“So you want to play with this one?”
He Xing smiled at Qin Yi.

This was the kind of thing that He Xing played with when he was a kid and it had been modified several times, but it was still a very vicious training machine compared to anything else, other than the increased safety factor.

Gian and Lu Yuan, who had only learned to fight for a few months, would never be able to handle it. Gian was calm enough, but still too rusty in his skills.

Qin Yi slowly spread her wings, eager to try. “Come.”
Of course she had such a robot at home, but it was locked in a closet and her father had the key. While she could blow up any robot in front of her father, she couldn’t take the initiative to ask for the key.

Anyway, as good as she was, her old father would think it was his daughter’s natural seriousness that made her work hard and get results in everything she did, but if she asked for the keys, her father would be surprised.

He Xing adjusted the program and released the hand holding the robot down.

The black robot turned its head. Its camera caught on to the white dragon cub and it strode over.

Lu Yuan also turned around to look.

Gian stretched out his short claws to smooth Lu Yuan’s hair. Qin Yi already started facing the robot and her actions were very sensitive. The flames were hot and always hit the robot’s vitals precisely. The damage to the robot’s chest was approaching the point where it stopped moving.

[Xue Lulu: ??? So strong?!]

[Does your throat hurt today?: Tidal dragons are very good at combat. I was beaten by one in elementary school and had my tail fur pulled off.]

[Under the southern mountain: Tidal dragons… are really strong dragons that are said to have body values close to the mythical genus, but their various features are more in line with the devouring dragon genus, which is why they weren’t included in the legendary genus.]

[A Book: Wait! Am I the only one who noticed the white smoke coming out of the little dragon cub? What’s going on with her?]

[Mirror: She really is smoking! There’s more and more!]

[Seventh Legion Super God: She’s a tidal dragon, it’s normal. Smoking means it won’t last long, but this is also the time when the output is the highest, the flame temperature will rise to the highest and the speed will be the fastest.]

The white smoke on Qin Yi’s body was increasing, seriously affecting the robot’s camera capture ability and at this time, Qin Yi’s flame heated up again, hitting the robot’s chest. The robot didn’t move, and the little dragon cub dropped with a ‘duang’, still emitting white smoke.

Xing Fei hurried over. “Are you alright?”
She subconsciously reached out to hold Qin Yi but was shocked by the temperature of the little dragon cub’s blazing scales.

Qin Yi avoided her hand. “My body is scalding.”

Shen Mian took a bottle of water from his space, unscrewed it and handed it to Qin Yi. “Drink some water.”

He Xing reassured the panicked dragon cubs. “She’s fine. Under normal circumstances, she’s just tired.”

Shen Mian held Xing Fei’s hand to make sure there were no burns before explaining, “The core body temperature of a tidal dragon is higher than most dragons. When it enters combat, the body’s temperature will get higher and higher and in order to cool down, the scales will open up, allowing the water in the body to flow out with the heat. Qin Yi is still young and when she grows up, she won’t heat up as easily. The moisture used for cooling is purposely stored under the scales, just like normal moisture.”

Qin Yi was feverishly hot, holding the water bottle and guzzling water, still covered in white steam, like a particularly nice air humidifier.

[Necklace: Why are you dragons all so magical?]
