LBRDI Chapter 42

I’m Thirsty=I’m Deflated

The centre’s library was finally under construction. It was next to the two school buildings. The plan was to build a three-story building just like the school building. The first floor will be a studio with desktop quantum computer’s, with the books placed above on the second floor.

After the building designer came to the kindergarten for field mapping and surveying, they went back and drew the design according to Shen Mian’s requirements.
“The remainder of our centre’s land is not that big and the dragon cubs don’t have many books. Just build a library that covers about the same area as the school building, so that although it doesn’t look as imposing as those big libraries, it is cost-effective and I have calculated the capacity, it is absolutely enough…”

The building designer used a large light screen in the school building to project the three-dimensional design. The relevant data clearly showed on the light screen, the length, width, height and radius, dazzling the dragons.

Lu Yuan collapsed on Gian, “One look at it and I feel my eyes are going to go bad.”

Gian raised his short arms to rub Lu Yuan’s eyes.

Yan Tan flew to the podium and carefully panned across the light screen. The 3D model changed directions when he moved and tapping into any room instantly brought up the modelling of that room. When the solids are hidden, only the lines remain, making it clearer.

“Awesome, did you draw this!?”

The building designer smiled, “It’s a model made by professional software, if you scale up the projection it will look like a library that has been built. “

Yan Tan exclaimed, “That’s so awesome and so cool-”

The little dragon cub turned around, “Dean, I want to learn this!”

Shen Mian: Your Dean doesn’t know how to do this.
He’d only learnt CAD by himself in university; new software from the interstellar like this, the original owner had never learned before, so he knew even less.

(CAD is Computer-Aided Design)

Facing the expectant eyes of the dragon cub, Shen Mian could only say, “…I don’t know either, let’s learn together.”

Building designer, “Dean Shen, do you think it’s okay to use this design? If it’s okay I’ll contact the interior designer to do this design.”

Shen Mian nodded, “Mhm, then this one.”
For now, this configuration is absolutely adequate for the library.

Yan Tan volunteered, “Can I see the designs with you as well?”

Yan Tan had an extraordinary sensitivity to colour and he was interested in getting into this, he may enter this line of work in the future.

Shen Mian looked at the building designer, who had just communicated with the interior designer. After hearing what the little dragon cub said, he asked the interior designer and when he got a reply, he received a cheerful reply, “No problem, I welcome guidance from the little teacher!”

Building designer, “Since the design has been finalised, we’ll start construction this afternoon. Our engineers are quick and the entire library including the interior can be completed in about three months. If the interior designs come out quicker, it can be a month shorter.”

That quick? Only two to three months including the interior? But being quicker is also a good thing.
Shen Mian nodded, “Then we’ll be troubling you.”

In the afternoon, after construction work on the library began, Shen Mian finally knew why the construction period was so short – as soon as the construction team arrived on-site, most of the dragons performed a passionate striptease and transformed back into their dragon forms. Only the dragons with machines remained in human form.

The construction worker was a pure black hurricane dragon with a very wide wingspan. Although they were so dark to the point they looked like a moving three-dimensional shadow and only their outline could be seen, their eyesight could be ranked in the top three among the dragons. Hurricane dragons can briefly dive into the water and use their wings to create vortexes. They can also blow out strong winds when flying in the air.

The worker flew higher into the air with a megaphone and roared, “Don’t be lazy! The team laying the foundation, hurry up!”

The other worker in charge of marking lines was a dragon from the velvet dragon genus and had two tails. A marker was in their hand and each tail held a pen.

Shen Mian, “…”

A trailer transported the brackets. When they were placed down, they found one of the brackets was broken. A blue gem dragon duangduang came over with a piece of welded metal in their claws. They opened their mouth and sprayed out blazing flames, rewelded the broken bracket and carried it away with satisfaction.

(t/n: duangduang is just sfx of them walking over, it was written like that in the original.)

A tiny elven dragon climbed onto the shelf and let the gem dragon lead him into the foundation pit.

Shen Mian: …No wonder the dragon construction was so quickly. Although humans can control machines, using a welding torch or drone was not as convenient as them using their original forms. There is also no need to run electrical wires everywhere and they can also save a bunch of scaffolding.

Shen Mian withdrew his gaze after a glance and continued to walk away.
The last of the library’s books and shelves were delivered just now, in two batches.

The courier was already waiting at the door and as soon as Shen Mian came, he moved all the deliveries out of the car so that Shen Mian could inspect them one by one.

The previous batch of deliveries were all books. This batch only had two boxes, but the bookshelves were divided into more than twenty boxes. The weight was still within the acceptable range, but the size was much larger than Shen Mian had imagined.

The courier scratched his head, “Would you like me to help you bring it inside?”

Shen Mian held onto the box that almost fell over.

“No need since you’re busy.”
Because of Shen Mian’s deliveries, some small pieces have been piled up in the courier truck. It was already causing trouble for the courier, so he couldn’t delay them from delivering other deliveries.

He directly stuffed the things into his space and transported them back in one go.

The books from before were kept in the school building and took up several classrooms. The first batch of books sent over had been handed over to the dragon cubs and He Xing to be sorted.

Shen Mian began a live broadcast before he left. This month, because of the unified exam, he did not broadcast for several days, so he had to find time to make up, at least to complete the monthly live broadcasting time.

He made his way to the second floor of the school building before the holographic glasses reconnected to the quantum computer and the continuous barrage reappeared.

[Death Rays: Ahhhhh Mr He is so A!]

[Crown Prince’s Medal: I always thought he was a spoilt brat.]

[Suga Cube: I’m suddenly so jealous of Dean, I feel so safe with this alpha.]

[Writing a thesis!: Yes, yes, it’s a sense of security! Not only are they particularly good at combat, but they are also peaceful but dependable. It must be very comfortable to have a boyfriend like that.]

Seeing such a dense barrage in the live room, Shen Mian had a hunch that He Xing and the little dragon cubs had been up to something. Before he even entered the library, he heard Xing Fei’s crisp laughter.

Shen Mian pushed the door to enter and the entire library was suddenly quiet.

Lu Yuan and Gian were sitting together. The black and white chubby boy fell asleep in a pile of books with his paws in his mouth.

There was a pile of books scattered around Gian, but he was already holding a book and reading it. Shen Mian swept a glance at it, the title of the book was “The Mystery of Introductory Mathematics”.

Yan Tan opened a picture book. A large poster was spread out and the little dragon cubs laid on top of it, appreciating the details in the picture.

Xing Fei sat on He Xing’s shoulder, holding a book half-turned. She heard the door open and turned her head together with He Xing.

Shen Mian, “…”
Only He Xing and Xing Fei were organizing the books.

He Xing smiled at him, “You’re back already? Did you get the delivery?”

Xing Fei had found a good book and was anxious to present her treasure to Shen Mian, almost jumping off He Xing’s shoulder, but He Xing held her and put her on the ground. Xing Fei rushed to Shen Mian.

“Dean look! I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time, but it’s expensive so I never got to see the paid part.”

Shen Mian caught the little girl, “Then let’s take a look first.”

Xing Fei carefully placed the book in Gian’s pouch.

“But I need to organize the books here first.”

Shen Mian remembered the books and shelves in his space and shook his head, “There’s too many and it’s very heavy. I can do it with uncle so you and your older brothers can go play together.”

He Xing came over and held Xing Fei’s hand, “There are too many books, hundreds of them.”

Xing Fei shook her head, “I like these.”

Shen Mian thought about it. Xing Fei and the boys might not have anything in common so he didn’t force her, “Alright then.”
He took out the shelves and books and the unpacked boxes to assemble the shelves.

He Xing patted the little green and gold dragon cub, “Gian, go a little that way, will you?”

The maths obsessed Gian stood up, moved to the corner in some small steps and crouched down again. He faced away from the live room and was like an oversized jelly ball.

Shen Mian and He Xing assembled the bookshelves quickly and the dozens of boxes of shelves were quickly installed, mounted and labelled with categories. Xing Fei held the books one by one and sorted them into the shelves.

[Night Sky: Ah-I suddenly realised that it’s been almost two hours since the beginning of the broadcast. Lu Yuan is sleeping so soundly, I nearly fell asleep watching him hahahaha]

[You’re killing me: This is called… peaceful times right1? Aiya, I feel that watching the Dean’s broadcasts is making me more literary.]

[Baby Gian’s Godmother: I really want to crawl along the network cable to the library so badly to hug the book-reading Gian. His back is so cute and feels great to the touch.]

[Purple Sweet Potato: Xing Fei is really powerful… She seems to have memorised many categories on the bookshelves. She gets a book and doesn’t hesitate, directly going to that category. I admire her and Gian the most.]

[Old Cloth: The little girl’s tail swishing around is so cute wu wu wu, I really want to hug the big tail and kiss her little horns.]

Xing Fei was a little tired. She was busy sorting out the books and forgot to rehydrate. She quickly ran to the side and picked up the thermos that had a capacity of about one litre from the table. She unscrewed the lid and felt the temperature, neither hot nor cold, only then did she use any effort to raise the thermos.

She gulped down half the bottle.

[It’s wine: ??????]

[Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs: ???????]

[Xue Lulu: I feel like my world view has been shattered…I always thought the little girl was the only soft cub in the centre that was cute inside and out.]

[I want to resign: Is this a half cetacean dragon cub? These dragon cubs can drink a lot.]

[It’s snowing hard: What happens if they drink less? Will they become dehydrated?]

Shen Mian went over to pat Xing Fei’s back, who was drinking water rapidly, “They will deflate.”

[South Shore Road: I’m so worried! Dehydration is really uncomfortable. I once had severe dehydration and it felt like I was dying. Xing Fei hasn’t had water in a while, is everything okay?]

[That’s some ugly writing: ?????? My little question mark is back! What do you mean deflated! That sounds so scary!]

Xing Fei was still drinking. The thermos was opaque but judging from the more and more elevated thermos, such a weak little girl should be about to empty the thermos.

She was well fed and was much healthier than she was before she came to the centre, her five lovely and fleshy hand dimples holding the bottle.

Shen Mian showed the curious audience what it meant to deflate- he reached out and pressed on Xing Fei’s little horns and the little horns deflated.

“Like this.”

“When they have enough water, these two horns will not deflate.”

He Xing came just in time to hand over a second thermos after Xing Fei drank it all, “Drink slowly, there’s more you don’t have enough.”

Xing Fei took the second thermos, “En!”

[Death Rays: I’m thirsty = I’m deflated.]

[Xue Lulu: Hahahahahahaha, wearing a holographic helmet and emitting morbid laughter, nearly deafening my own ears.]

  2. Passionate striptease is an amazing way to start construction (灬º‿º灬)♡ I’m just thinking of all the ‘made for the trade’ slogans and the thirst calendar spreads ♡(ӦvӦ。) … Definitely would get me to think more before doing some DiY if that was an option (;^ω^)
