LBRDI Chapter 25

“No, you can’t.”

Dean Shen decisively refused.

Yan Zhou frowned, “Why?”

Shen Mian made it up as he went along, “I asked him to be the teacher for the cubs, and both Yan Tan himself and his uncle agreed. He will stay in the centre until the end of his vacation.”

The Dragon Empire has a comprehensive set of laws that also explicitly prohibit cubs that haven’t gotten their human forms from working, but it is common in childcare centres to have older schoolboys tutoring the younger cubs. During the long holidays, parents who are anxious about their cub’s grades will also ask the older cubs to tutor their cubs.

After Shen Mian said that, he thought it was a good idea – Yan Tan was an elementary school tyrant1. While he couldn’t get close to a perfect score on an exam paper with objective questions like Gian, his transcript was excellent in all courses. Shen Mian invited Yan Tan to teach make-up lessons, which will not only wear down the energy of the three cubs but also prevents Yan Tan from forgetting what he has learned while on break.

Yan Zhou froze for a while.

It was because he had seen the young dean spoiling Yan Tan in the live broadcast that he hurried over from Imperial Star.

Shen Mian slowly moved himself to give way, “I can take you to see.”

After all, Yan Zhou is Yan Tan’s legal guardian, his biological father, and if Yan Zhou insists on taking Yan Tan away, that will be a problem.

Yan Zhou subconsciously looked at He Xing. He Xing, who had no family status, shrugged, “This is a childcare centre, so just listen to the dean.” The implication was that it’s useless for him to talk.

Yan Zhou, “…”

Lieutenant General Yan was menacing. A little bit of air leaked out when he saw He Xing, a little bit of air leaked out when he heard him speak and now there should be half a can of air left.

Yan Zhou thought that this wasn’t good. He came here to get his cub, It’s all about momentum. If he keeps losing momentum, wouldn’t he lose the battle?

Yan Zhou took a deep breath, but before he could speak, Dean Shen was already impatient and tugged at the door of the nursery, “Are you looking or not? Leave if you aren’t.”

Yan Zhou held the door with one hand, shocked by the strength of the other’s hand, “I am.”

Shen Mian took him into the centre and was about to lead Yan Zhou to the dormitory. Before going upstairs he noticed that the kitchen lights were on and asked He Xing, “Who’s inside?”

Not only was it on, but there was a faint aroma coming from inside as if something was being stewed.

He Xing, “Not sure, I turned off the lights after I washed the dishes.”

The housework robot was being charged, Dean Shen was saving his dragon grass in the backyard, Yan Huan took the three dragon cubs into the dormitory to do something and He Xing did the dishes alone and then went to accompany Shen Mian in the backyard to re-nurture the dragon grass.

When Shen Mian’s light brain received the doorbell notification, he thought another one of He Xing’s subordinate had come and dragged He Xing directly to the centre’s front door to claim the subordinate, but he didn’t expect that the one coming was not a scrounger but came to take his cub.

Yan Zhou’s thoughts were filled with: Why does the crown prince have to wash the dishes himself?

Between Shen Mian’s footsteps, he heard voices talking in the kitchen. The three little dragon cubs’ childish voices were particularly distinct, in addition to this, there was also a very strange and clear girl voice.

So then Shen Mian turned into the kitchen, “It seems that they’re all in there.”

The three dragon cubs don’t know how to cook and Yan Huan was like He Xing in the beginning, he only knows how to eat.

The lights in the kitchen were relatively dim. When Shen Mian first entered, he saw a floating pink apron, squinted his eyes for a moment before seeing that Yan Tan was wearing the apron.

The black dragon cub almost melted into the darkness, the little pink apron seemed to be suspended in the air.

Yan Tan seemed particularly fond of bright colours. He stood at the stove in a little pink apron, standing on a little yellow stool, holding a recipe in one claw and a spoon stirring the contents of the pot in the other.

Yan Huan was leaning to the side with the usual look on his face.

“Salt.”

Little Gian immediately held up the salt jar, Yan Tan carefully scooped up three tablespoons of salt, poured it in and stirred it a few times.

The black dragon cub, “I need two more spoonfuls of wine,”

Lu Yuan held up a bottle of wine, Yan Tan took it and poured two spoonfuls of wine in. The delicious aroma of vegetable soup filled the kitchen along with the heat.

Yan Huan, who was holding his light brain, had noticed the movement at the door and quietly walked towards the door without disturbing the three dragon cubs, explaining, “It was when Yan Tan was talking to Gian and Lu Yuan that he learned that the dragon grass in the backyard was for sale. He ended up stealing so much of it that the dean had to re-catalyse them. So he felt very sorry to the dean and wanted to make a late-night snack the dean and wanted to surprise him when he comes back.”

Shen Mian looked at Yan Zhou. This straight A cancer’s face had sunk and he might enter and forcefully take Yan Tan away at any moment.

Shen Mian began to think: If Yan Zhou has to go in, wouldn’t it be a bad idea to beat up his dad in front of him? Then just beat him a little, but not too violently.

Yan Zhou turned to Shen Mian, “By taking classes, you meant taking these kinds of classes?”

Shen Mian’s face was paralyzed, “Do you have a problem with home economics?”

It was also a bit surprising that such a young cub could cook.

Yan Zhou ridiculed, “I suggest that you review the professional courses as dragon cubs from different species cannot be taught using the same teaching method. Yan Tan is of a species that is naturally gifted in combat so what’s the point in taking home economics?”

He Xing lightly coughed, “Yan Zhou.” Be careful of the dean beating dragons.

Shen Mian lowered his voice but the ridiculing tone did not drop, “Then I also suggest that you go back and review the kindergarten curriculum. The first sentence in the first course: Every child has unlimited possibilities, there is no reason to limit the growth of cubs, except for the law and morals.”

When the doorway rattled, Yan Tan in the kitchen struggled to cover the pot with a lid and as soon as he jumped off the stool, he saw Yan Zhou. He was frightened and took two steps back and hit the stove. His wings touched the pot of soup, the scalding hot soup splashed on his wings.

Shen Mian was stunned, not expecting Yan Tan’s reaction to be so great.

He stepped forwards and wiped Yan Tan’s wings.

Yan Zhou subconsciously took a step forward and forcibly stood still, “Yan Tan, come home with me.”

Yan Tan looked at Shen Mian.

Yan Zhou had a stern posture, “Yan Tan.”

Yan Tan took a step back, “I don’t want to.”

Gian held Lu Yuan’s hand and the two dragon cubs stood in front of Yan Tan.

Yan Zhou coldly asked, “Do you want to spend the rest of your life cowering behind other dragon cubs?”

What he said was too much and Yan Huan patted Yan Zhou on the shoulder, “Cut it out!”

“I haven’t!”

Yan Tan’s emotions suddenly became intense, “I clearly, I clearly did not cower behind the other dragon cubs! I have, I have protected other dragon cubs, I have protected him.”

His sudden burst of emotions stunned Yan Zhou for a moment and he hesitantly asked, “Who did you protect?”

Yan Huan was currently holding Yan Zhou back,

Shen Mian took the tissues that He Xing handed over and wiped Yan Tan’s tears, “Don’t worry, take your time.”

Yan Tanm “Livia, they bullied Livia.”

He Xing crouched in front of Yan Tan, “Who is Livia?”

Yan Huan thought about it, “It’s the dragon cub that Yan Tan met in the combat class, he often talked with Yan Tan.”

“En, my classmate,” Yan Tan tried his best to hold back the tears, “He’s really pretty. He’s a phosphorus dragon cub and looks like a burning gem.”

He clearly cried until he hiccuped, but still didn’t forget to compliment the other dragon cubs on their beauty, so you could tell that he was born with an appearance complex2

As a species of the flame dragon genus, the phosphorus dragon is indeed beautiful and extraordinary, but despite being part of the flame dragon genus, phosphorus dragons are not naturally strong dragons. Their bodies are quite feeble, their flames don’t have a high temperature and don’t have much impact.

Shen Mian and He Xing looked at each other, not knowing what to say for a while.

Yan Tan chocked, “But those dragon cubs mocked him for not being able to keep up with his classes, stole his books, pushed him down while he was training and cut up his nutrient solutions and dumped them on his desk.”

“Every time, every time Livia would resist, but the dragon cubs would get together and lock him in the bathroom and not let him out to go to class.”

Knowing full well that if he retaliated one time, he’ll be bullied even more next time, but he retaliated anyway.

Yan Huan was confused, “Why didn’t you tell the teacher?”

At this level, it can be considered as bullying.

Yan Tan looked at him, “Because it will be dismissed. Even if Livia wasn’t in the wrong, he will be dismissed. Livia told me that the teacher was reluctant to let him in the class because the phosphorus dragon doesn’t have a body that can take the intensity of the training and can easily get injured. He begged many times before the teacher agreed. I have protected him, I really did. I didn’t not do anything.”

“But I can’t beat them either, I’m not like Livia. I know dad prefers dragon cubs like him, but I really can’t. There are too many dragon cubs bullying him, I really can’t beat so many dragon cubs. “

But he could get in front of Livia, even if it meant taking a beating with him and he could drag him through the maze-like classroom over and over again, flying up and landing in a place where no dragon cub would find them.

“I only eat half of my lunch and give the other half to Livia and I will also copy a book he has lost with him. Even if all the dragon cubs ignore him, I will talk to him. I feel sorry for him too, he says I’m his best friend, but that’s all I can do.”

Yan Tan had tears in his eyes, “Livia’s dream is to enter the military academy, so no matter how many times an opponent makes him fall down in class, he will definitely get back up and not make the same mistake the next time. But I really can’t do it, I’m always so stupid. I’m simply not that keen.”

When they escaped, they were caught and couldn’t fight the powerful dragon cubs. Since their injuries were a bit serious, they could only obediently go to the hospital.

“I can’t do it, I’m not a dragon that can be a great general. I’m just a very ordinary dragon cub, not pretty or powerful at all.”

Yan Tan looked at Yan Zhou in tears, “I’m not the kind of dragon cub you want.”

Yan Zhou slowly crouched down and opened his mouth, but didn’t know how to express it.

Facing his crying son, he was in the rare state of being at a loss. He was an overly aggressive father, so much so that he often ignored the cub’s thoughts and refused to even listen to them.

He never knew that his crybaby-like cub had such gentle bravery.

“You aren’t a powerful general, but you are Livia’s little hero.”

Shen Mian gently touched Yan Tan, “Like, in the fairy tale “Traveling the World with the Black Dragon”, the flying black dragons descend from the sky to accompany warriors through one obstacle after another.”

He Xing also slightly smiled, “In the end, the warrior told the black dragon: You are my hero.”

“Heroes don’t do everything, they do their best. You have done that.”

  1. thank you very much for this chapter, and I will not deny that I cried a lot more my tears were worth for this puppy so kind and brave that unfortunately the father does not see, but I still hope with my heart that this father regrets never caring about that son and admire his whole story for being out of his standards and that our Dean still beats this father that he deserves a lot.

  2. heads up, this looks like a possible name typo? “Yan Huan ridiculed, “I suggest that you (blahblahblah dickish diatribe)”” Should be the cancer speaking, right?

  3. When Yan Tan burst out even when he is afraid of his father. I cried and applaud Shen Mian. Why? Because he gave the cub courage. All those time, Yan Tan can’t says those thing, the injustice, the prejudice, the appearance complex. But with just a day with Shen Mian guidance and two cute cubs acceptance, Yan Tan grew this much courage 👏. The dad? He can just roll away back to where he belong I guess.
