LBRDI Chapter 19

Ying Ying Ying

Bonus ko-fi chapter

Although this “equipment” pocket carries the misery of many young spotted dragons, the large capacity and tight-fitting pockets were indeed envied by many dragon cubs.

Lu Yuan’s pockets contained three storybooks, a large handful of coloured candies, a small box of chocolates, various small cards, and several sturdy toy models. It is simply a small treasure trove that dragon cubs dream of.

Lu Yuan magically pulled out a handful of odds and ends and piled them on the desk, finally emptying his pocket, “That’s it, just this much.”

[A little fence: Darling, how much more do you want to put in, it can already hold more than a girl’s big bag.]

[Song of Rain: This is superb, boys want one too!]

[Under the skydome: Who would carry a bag with this! Wouldn’t it be great to go on a short trip? Don’t even bother hauling a suitcase.]

This was Gian’s first time seeing the full collection in Lu Yuan’s pocket. Looking at the mound on the table, he was momentarily shocked at the capacity, even the tip of his tail stopped swaying.

Shen Mian crouched down, “Does Gian want one?”

Gian touched his belly. Not to mention dragon cubs around his age, but adult dragons and adult humans alike had no resistance1 against these small magical pouches.

Gian clasped his claws and refused with difficulty, “I, I don’t want one.” Actually, he really wants one! He can find one himself.

Shen Mian, “You really don’t want one?”

Gian whispered: “… I want one, but how can I get a small pouch?”

Shen Mian looked at the time and lead the two cubs along, “Then we’ll change the remaining half of the class to crafting class.”

The traditional childcare centres only have half-day classes, four small half-hour sessions that usually include one or two talent classes. The remainder of the day is for the cubs to let off steam so they don’t secretly tear down the house in the middle of the night.

Since Qiming is focused on studies (poor with no hardware facilities), their classes are usually on culture. In addition, the two cubs are obedient and sensible in class and Shen Mian teaches quickly, the cultural class course is a step or two ahead of a normal childcare centre.

So it’s okay to miss a cultural class or two every day.

Shen Mian looked into his own space. There were originally a few pieces of fabric in his space, which he used five packets of instant noodles to exchange for. The ones that were suitable for making clothes have long been distributed, the rest were stuffed in the space without being taken out due to some sort of collection mentality. After going through the space turbulence caused by changing bodies, it was surprisingly not damaged.

Shen Mian took out the fabric, “Which one does Gian like?”

The two dragon cubs laid on Shen Mian’s lap, one on the left and the other on the right.

Gian chose a beige fabric. This was a piece of washed canvas and because of its rough feel, it was not chosen to make into clothes. It was just enough for Gian can make a pouch out of it

Shen Mian, “Lu Yuan, what about you?”

Lu Yuan, “Me? Do I get one too?”

Shen Mian, “Of course, you two both get one.”

Lu Yuan patted his stomach, “I won’t choose one then. It’s fine for Gian and me to have the same kind of cloth and I like this cloth.”

Shen Mian nodded and took out his sewing box.

[Strawberry flavoured nutrient solution: What is this? Is the Dean about to start some advanced operation? Is it necessary to make the bag by hand?]

[Death Rays: It seems that he is actually going to do it by hand! Is there a dean that doesn’t know how to do it? He can fight, looks good, can cook, raise dragons, grow grass and even raise pigs. Can I keep a dean like that?]

[Does your throat hurt today?: It feels a little weird to raise a pig after a dragon, we eat more than a pig.]

[Xue Lulu: When I saw the first half of the sentence, I thought that the throat hurt guy’s head was fine today. The second half of the sentence made me realise that there is still a problem.]

While the audience was in a trance, Shen Mian had already marked the size of the fabric, cut it out and starting to sew the pouch!

Shen Mian had been cold and weary all day long. While others spoke in sentences, he spoke in words and all the housework had an inexplicable contradiction. However, he sat down and sewed the pouch with a cool expression and relaxed posture, calmness was written all over his body. The audience in the live room was also strangely calm, which they took for granted.

Two hours later, Shen Mian had first sewn Gian’s small pouch which had been divided into several small compartments on the inside. The body of the bag was the beige washed canvas, a piece was cut from a dark coffee-coloured single-sided velvet to make the flap cover and the beige fabric was used to make the strap.

Shen Mian pulled up the four corners of the pouch, patted it down a little, and hung it on Gian.

The pretty little jewel cub slung his new bag over his shoulder, happily adjusting the pouch to the front, picking it up and touching it several times, “Thank you, Dean!!”

Shen Mian pet the gem dragon’s forehead, “Go play, come back for dinner later.”

Lu Yuan pulled Gian along, “Let’s go, let’s play in the backyard!”

Shen Mian had just been about to pick a lottery winner. He had been broadcasting for nearly four hours and was about to greet the audience then end the live broadcast. He saw that the barrage was all over the screen, but it wasn’t because of a lottery, it was because of a quarrel.

Shen Mian opened the backstage and flipped forward through the barrage, finding the one that began the war.

[Lucky Number: Um… The anchor is very feminine. His primary gender is male so why does he have to be so girly? Can’t you learn some more manly skills?]

When Shen Ming returned to the live room, Lucky Number’s ID was still there and a new ID came to help Lucky Number speak, which in a nutshell was criticizing Shen Ming for being too feminine.

Shen Mian put on his holographic glasses, the lenses and thin metal rim filtering his cold and sharp gaze.

It’s really funny. Others complained about his facial paralysis and accused him of being inhumane. This was the first time the word “feminine” was used to describe him.

When he was in high school, the school made a big deal about offering a girls’ morality class. There were thousands of people in the school and dozens of guys in their third year of high school2 sat in front of the school in girls’ uniforms knitting scarves, who would taunt them and call them feminine?

Shen Mian, “What is your definition of feminine?”

“Should men play with starship models and women spend their childhood sewing dolls?”

“If you’re that good at defining gender, why don’t you go ahead and call all the omegas to quit the military, the alphas to get out of the nursing profession and the betas to quit leadership?”

The audience in the live room did not expect Shen Mian to directly dislike, they were a little stunned. The barrage’s scuffle subsided and more than 100 000 spectators wearing holographic goggles or holographic helmets, aside from their own breathing, they could only hear the anchor.

Shen Mian crossed his arms, expressionless, “You don’t dare to, so you can only vent your incompetence in the live room.”

The number of viewers in the live room finally exceeded 200 000, but the interface was clean and not a single line of the barrage was seen.

It wasn’t until Shen Mian finished his last sentence that a barrage fluttered past:

[Xue Lulu: Did anyone make a rule saying that alpha men can’t do needlework?]

Immediately afterwards, the barrage that originally seemed like it was turned off finally resumed, the word “No” covering the screen.

After Shen Mian finished his wave of dislike, he just happened to see He Xing coming over, thought about it and also added, “Did you know that those who cry cutely are treated as beasts?”

He Xing just got back and was a little confused when he heard this, “Huh?”

Shen Mian, “Do you know how to cry cutely?”

He Xing thought about it, then decided to abandon all integrity: “Ying ying ying3.”

  1. Pretty sure when they say they have no resistance means that they won’t resist against getting a pouch, meaning they want one. Comment below if my explanation doesn’t make sense.
  2. If you don’t know, in China and some other asian countries like Japan or Korea, secondary school is split into two parts, middle school for three years and high school for three years. The guys are in the high school third grade which is the grade before they graduate and go to university. An equivalent would be year 12, do forgive me if I’m wrong but I think it’s senior year or something.
  3. The crying here is 嘤嘤嘤 (ying ying ying) refers to crying cutely. “It is the exclusive cry of a girl who is cute. The expression of crying is subtle and tender, and provokes love,” as Baidu says.

Gian’s pouch/bag is probably something like this:

Tiktok cringe is making me un poco loco.

  1. It sounds odd when the crying is “bang bang bang” (makes me imagine someone banging a door 💀), so would sound better if it’s “ying ying ying”

    Thanks for the chapters! 🙂
